THE MANAGER

THE MANAGER

DARREN MOORE Good afternoon, and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium. I’d like to welcome Paul Warne, as well as the supporters, players and staff of Rotherham who have made the short trip over. Today’s game will be closely contested by both teams, we go into the game full of confidence after the wins over Lincoln City in the league and Leasing.com Trophy. Your backing in our matches so far this season has been brilliant, please keep it up and I promise you the staff and players will keep giving their all.

"We have brought in a number of players over the summer to add to the squad, but they have all settled in really quickly and been accepted by the group"

I was pleased to secure the signing of Donervon Daniels this week, he is someone I have worked with previously and will give us real competition for places at the back. We have brought in a number of players over the summer to add to the squad, but they have all settled in really quickly and been accepted by the group - you can see how much it meant to the likes of Niall Ennis, Kazaiah Sterling, Cameron John and Jon Taylor when they scored their first goals for the club. Enjoy the game.

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE

CHIEF EXECUTIVE

GAVIN BALDWIN Good afternoon and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium. I’d like to welcome the owners, supporters, players and staff of Rotherham who have come to today’s game. Tuesday evening’s performance against Lincoln City was one of our best of the season, there has been a real progression throughout each game so far. I’m sure Rotherham will provide a tough test today, but we go into the game full of confidence. Thanks to everyone who came to Thursday’s Meet The Owners event on Thursday. It’s always useful to get feedback on our activities on and off the pitch. Hopefully everyone who came down found it useful. We’ve seen a significant development recently as Club Doncaster Sports College started their partnership with Doncaster College and University Centre.

Tuesday's prformance was one of the best of the season so far

07

The partnership will enable students from Doncaster to study qualifications in sport across both Doncaster College Hub Campus and the Keepmoat Stadium. Club Doncaster Sports College is celebrating its ten-year anniversary this year and the relationship with Doncaster College and University Centre

will launch the next chapter for one of the EFL’s leading educational providers. Enjoy the game.

JON TAYLOR Jon Taylor is a man who knows all about the rivalry between Rovers and this afternoon’s visitors Rotherham United. 09 The winger left the Millers at the end of last season, before deciding to join Rovers after a conversation with manager Darren Moore. While he still has a lot of respect for Rotherham and the impact they had on his career, he is in no doubt as to where his loyalties now lie. “I enjoyed my time at Rotherham but I didn’t have too much time to dwell on things and had to find a club which was right for me,” he says. “I got a lot of criticism from the Rotherham fans for moving to a local rival but I’m here now and I’ll do everything I can for this club. “It did come into my thoughts in terms of how they would react but

it’s a short career and sometimes you have to think about your family and what’s best at the time. “People who aren’t in football have a much longer career with whatever job they choose, but for me I could be done at 35 and can’t have regrets on chances I didn’t take. “Fans are entitled to their own opinion and that’s just football, but I’d like to think they understand my decision and reasoning for signing. “Sometimes you have to take rivalry out of it and be realistic, unless you’re playing at a certain level there isn’t always going to be an option which gets you a good reaction from the team you’re leaving."

Upon signing for Rovers, Taylor made it clear that his patience in waiting for the right club to come along was worth it. He had interest from a Championship club, but the move to remain in South Yorkshire was a simple one once the plans for the current campaign were laid out in front of him. “I love it here and all the lads are great to be around, the gaffer has got everybody pulling in the same direction which is positive to see,” he says. “I signed here on the Friday morning and was involved the day after at Rochdale which meant I didn’t have too much time to think. “I came on and managed to set up the goal so it was a good start, but since then it’s been a case of getting my fitness levels up to where they need to be. “The manager has been good with me and given me the time I need, I’ve not been rushed which means I haven’t been at risk of getting injured. “I’ve only been at the club for a matter of weeks but I know in myself that I made the right decision in coming here. “When I spoke to the manager on the phone his words and his intentions for the club was the main reason I wanted to sign. “He has stuck to his word and since my first training session I have witnessed those plans being put in place.” Having made three substitute appearances in Sky Bet League One so far, Taylor has already made an impact with a goal and an assist.

TAYLOR

His debut saw him set-up Kieran Sadlier’s equaliser at Rochdale, before he came off the bench against Lincoln City and scored the winner with seven minutes of normal time remaining. That finish was the third time Rovers have scored in the last 10 minutes of games so far this season, something which the 27-year-old says is a great display of character “The Lincoln game was the second time I had come off the bench at the Keepmoat and it was a great atmosphere,” says Taylor. “The way the lads play means that the crowd are always on the edge of their seats, and I can see myself scoring a lot of goals in this team. “We’ve got a never say die attitude within the group and there is a genuine belief that we can score a goal at any time of a game. “In an ideal world we would have games won nice and early but it’s good to know that even if time is ticking on that we can provide that one moment of quality to either rescue a draw or sneak a win. “We’ve got a lot of good footballers here and the manager is keen to encourage that we keep trying to play good attacking football.”

With this afternoon’s game having a lot riding on it for both sides, there is more than local bragging rights at stake. The winger says he will thrive on the occasion, whatever the reception he receives from the travelling supporters. “I know what the rivalry is about and it’s going to be exciting, I’m not sure what reception I’m going to get but it could be a hostile one. “Anyone who knows me will know that I will thrive on that, I love big games and it’s what every player is in the game for. “While I was at Rotherham I scored against the two Sheffield clubs which shows that I’m the type of player who wants to be in the mix. “Away from the rivalry there isn’t too much to separate the two teams, and it’s always important to take points off of those around you. “It will be an exciting game and neither team will be holding back, they will come here to beat us and we’ll be trying to do the same to them. “Most of the lads I was with last year have left the club so there won’t be too many familiar faces to come up against. There are only a few still there and apart from that it is a new team and we’ll do our homework on them and work on where to hurt them.”

ROTHERHAM UNITED:

FOUR TO WATCH DANIEL

IVERSEN The young Denmark international impressed while on loan from Leicester City at Oldham last season which earned him the opportunity to come back to League One this time round as part of Rotherham’s quest to earn promotion straight back to the Championship after relegation. He has been handed the No.1 jersey for the new season and has kept one clean sheet from the first three opening games.

DANIEL

BARLASER John Coleman gave Barlaser his first taste of League One football when he was drafted into the Accrington Stanley squad, where he was a significant figure after amassing 39 appearances for Lancashire club. His impressive form driving Accrington’s midfield in the 2018/19 season earned him the opportunity to join Rotherham on loan for the current campaign. He has represented Turkey at U16 and U17 level but switched to England to play for their U18 team in 2015.

RICHARD

WOOD

Wood is one of Rotherham’s longest serving players after signing for the club in June 2014 and he has gone on to rack up more than 100 appearances for the club during this time. The central defender stands at 6ft 2in and will prove to be an aerial threat for Rovers and will be difficult to mark from dead ball situations.

FREDDIE

LADAPO

Ladapo is another one of Rotherham’s new recruits for this season after a prolific year at Plymouth Argyle where he scored 18 times across 45 games for the Pilgrims. His impressive form at Margate earned him a glistering move to Premier League side Crystal Palace in 2016, but after only one senior outing in two years in South London he decided to move on for more game time which ultimately has led to his move to Rotherham.

15

IN OPPOSITION

ADAM COLLIN GOALKEEPER The keeper has had two stints in Doncaster but over that period failed to make one senior appearance. Sir Bobby Robson loaned Collin to Belle Vue in 2004 and following that he made his move permanent that summer but struggled to strip Andy Warrington of the No.1 jersey. After time away at Workington and Carlisle United he moved back to South Yorkshire in 2013 to play under Steve Evans and spent six years with the Millers playing a role in their promotion to the Championship in 2014.

16

DEAN BARRICK DEFENDER The full-back is no stranger to South Yorkshire having spent the early part of his career at Sheffield Wednesday where he attracted interest from Rotherham United who signed him in 1991 – he went on to spend three years at the club making 99 appearances. He represented clubs in the south, Lancashire and Scotland before coming back to Yorkshire when Dave Penney targeted the defender in 2001 and became one of his first signings as Rovers manager. Two years after his Rovers stint, Barrick retired after making more than 500 senior career appearances. He went on to spend two-years managing Hucknall Town. SHAUN CUMMINGS DEFENDER Cummings was a product of Chelsea’s Academy and has represented Jamaica on the international stage between 2013 and 2015 after an impressive spell during his time playing for Reading. After moving to Millwall for two years in 2017 Cummings headed up north after securing a trial with Rotherham. He impressed Millers boss Paul Warne who offered him a contract. After the team's promotion, the 30-year-old was released by the club after making 12 appearances.

SHARED 5-A-SIDE Due to injury problems in Rovers’ defence, Grant McCann drafted the right back in to provide cover on a short-term contract. He left the club in January 2019 and is yet to find a club. MARTIN WOODS MIDFIELDER The Scottish-born midfielder started his career in England and moved to Rotherham after one year on Wearside. He signed for League One Millers in 2006 and scored a sensational goal against Rovers – a game Rotherham went on to lose 3-2. His goal left such a good impression on people at Rovers that he came to Doncaster in 2007, agreeing a four-year contract. He left the club in the summer of 2013 to join another South Yorkshire team in Barnsley. JONSON CLARKEHARRIS FORWARD In the early stages of his career he struggled to gather momentum after spells at Coventry, Peterborough and Oldham led to his eventual move to Rotherham in 2014. The Millers loaned Clarke-Harris to Rovers in 2015 as Paul Dickov aimed to bolster his attacking ranks but after scoring once in nine games he returned back to the New York Stadium. Ultimately Rotherham decided to release the 25-year-old after netting nine times in 71 appearances.

PAST RECORD PAST PASTRECORD RECORD

Rovers and Rotherham have not been in the same division all that much in recent years, with the last time Rovers claimed victory over their South Yorkshire rivals coming in 2007. Paul Heffernan hit two goals to help fire Rovers to a 3-2 success, with Graeme Lee also on target. Former Rovers midfielder Martin Woods scored against his hold side for the Millers, but it was the home side who held on. Rovers have claimed 23 victories in these meetings, all coming in the league. The most recent league meetings between the two sides came in the 2017/18 campaign and could have gone either way. A late Kieffer Moore goal rescued a point for the Millers in a 1-1 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium, while the return fixture at the New York Stadium was also a tight affair decided in the dying stages as the home side claimed a 2-1 success. Rovers’ largest margin of victory was a 4-1 success in Division Three (North) back in October 1924.

IN THE HOT SEAT:

DONCASTER ROVERS MANAGERS FROM 1920

JACKIE BESTALL (1946-1949) After the departure of Fred Emery in 1940, Rovers had no manager for five years while wartime matches were played. However, with the possibility of normal League football resuming in 1945-46, the club appointed Bill Marsden as the new manager. Marsden, a former Sheffield Wednesday and England halfback, combined his duties with running a pub in Sheffield. He appointed Jackie Bestall as his deputy, and when in March 1946 the Rovers directors decided they wanted a full-time manager, it was Bestall who got the job. Jackie Bestall had a fine pedigree as a footballer. Born in Beighton in June 1900 he had spent twelve years with Grimsby Town after a spell with Rotherham United. He was Town’s captain when they won the Division Two title in 1933-34 and he helped keep them in the top flight until 1938 when he retired to become Birmingham City’s chief scout. A small (5 feet 5 inches), skilful inside forward, Bestall won an England cap against Northern Ireland at Goodison Park in 1935. Marsden and Bestall had recruited some fine players, for example Archie Ferguson, Paul Todd, Bert Tindill, Clarrie Jordan and Jackie Thompson. Nevertheless, Bestall could not have quite anticipated what was to come as Rovers stormed to the top of Division Three (North) in 1946-47, winning the title with a then record 72 points. The following season was to be a sobering one: Rovers could not afford to make new signings and the team appeared out of its depth in Division Two. As the season progressed, Bestall signed Alf Calverley, Walter Bennett and his former Grimsby team-mate, Jack Hodgson. In order to

balance the books, Jordan was sold to Sheffield Wednesday. Despite improved results in the latter part of the season, Bestall’s remodelled side was unable to avoid relegation. 1948-49 saw major changes to the playing staff, and Bestall made some shrewd signings, including Syd Goodfellow, Ken Reeve and George Antonio. He also brought Bert Tindill back into the side, and the young winger responded by scoring some vital goals. Rovers went on to finish third in a Division Three (North), where only the champions were promoted. In April 1949 Rovers announced that the Northern Ireland international Peter Doherty would be joining the club as playermanager for the 1949-50 season. This effectively meant the sack for the popular Bestall, although the club softened the blow by paying up the remainder of his contract and allowing him to stay in his club house. Ironically, it was Bestall who had initially persuaded the board to make an approach for Doherty, then playing for Huddersfield Town. The players, who were sorry to see their much liked and respected manager leaving the club, presented Bestall with an engraved barometer. Jackie Bestall was soon back in work as manager of Second Division Blackburn Rovers in June 1949. He remained at Ewood Park for almost four years, during which time the “other Rovers” reached an FA Cup semi-final. He left in May 1953 and later managed non-League Nelson before returning to Belle Vue as chief scout in 1958. He had three further spells in charge of Rovers, the most notable between February and December 1966, when in partnership with trainer Frank Marshall he oversaw the climax of Rovers’ 1965-66 Division Four Championship campaign. He died in April 1985. John Coyle

21 Paul Stancliffe was delighted after his side came from behind to earn a 4-1 win over Burton Albion at Cantley Park. Neither side really got to grips with the first-half but the visitors Burton broke the deadlock. Within the opening ten minutes, Rovers found themselves behind Emmanuel Shittu dinked the ball from the left which Ben Bottomley stopped but captain Tom Armitage was able to stab into the net. Stancliffe said: “We said at halftime we thought we played some really good stuff in the first half but it was just the final little bit around the box, we just needed a little bit of composure from the forwards getting over the ball and bringing team-mates into play. “In the second half I felt we had that and we got our rewards for that. We did really well against Grimsby, Rotherham in the cup, and today against Burton.

“It is always a learning curve for these guys, we went to Notts County and it became a battle but we can’t go around thinking we’re unstoppable because we’re not. We are just aiming to keep improving as a team and as individual players." The U18 boss was full of praise for striker

Watson as the teenager scored a hat-trick in seven minutes, later netting his fourth goal of the game. He added: “Jack has got that in him and he can be very effective for the team, to be fair he was one who we had words with about holding the ball up because he didn’t do that enough in the first-half. “In the second-half he did and look what happened. He is continuing to be rewarded for all his hard work and he his fantastic attitude and application to what we work on.”

DONCASTER BELLES

Belles forward Abby Watkinson was delighted to get off the mark in the regular season after scoring the winner against Solihull Moors on Sunday. Watkinson’s 73rd-minute effort was the difference as the Belles picked up their first three points in the FAWNL Division One Midlands, and she feels there has been a real improvement in the side over the past few weeks. “I think we’ve improved as the weeks have gone on and the performance here showed that really, we just have to take our chances more and more goals will start to come,” she said. “I was happy to get the goal, I’ve had a few shots in the past few games and they’ve not quite come off, I didn’t think one was going to come here but I took my chance when it came, I want to try and get into double figures and do better than last year. “We have to go out and try and pick up maximum points now to try and push us towards the top of the league.”

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:

"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground

• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

SUPPORTERS LIAISON OFFICER

35 Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium and a very warm welcome to all the visiting fans from Rotherham United. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of all of the work that the supporter liaison officers do. The aim of the SLO role is to provide information and guidance to supporters, while also providing a communication link between the supporters and the club management and the club management back to the supporters. I use many different communication links to talk to supporters such as twitter (@SLO_DRFC), Facebook (DRFCSLO), email (dean.medcalf@clubdoncaster.co.uk) and also face to face. So if you see me walking around the stadium at any point please come and have a chat.

the concourses so again if there is anyways I can help do not hesitate to ask. If you don’t see me then I am contactable by the stewards on the radios you can contact me on Facebook or Twitter and I will come and find you. After the game, I will first be outside the away end to again help and talk to any away supporters as they leave the ground and head back to their transport and make sure that they enjoyed their visit to the Keepmoat Stadium. Following this, you will find me located in the Belle Vue Bar to gather any feedback from fans relating to any issues. Following the game I work with the away fans on social media gathering feedback from their visit to the Keepmoat Stadium, this is something that not many clubs do and it allows me to pass information back to the club to see how we can help improve the matchday experience for everyone.

The SLO role is also here to help the visiting supporters who come to the Keepmoat Stadium. When the away supporter coaches arrive I will be waiting to greet them and to help direct our visitors or help in any way I can.

So I hope you find this brief description of what a typical match day is for an SLO and what we are trying to achieve on match days. As always you can contact me on social media or via email, all of my details are above.

Durin home games, I will spend the first half located in the South Stand and the second half in the West Stand. At half time you will find me making my way through

SUPPORTERS CLUB

SUPPORTERS CLUB A big warm welcome to all the supporters for today’s game. A special welcome to the travelling fans from Rotherham - I hope they enjoy the Keepmoat Stadium experience apart from the result. Again this season we will be running coaches to all home and away games, the sheet with times and prices on are included in the programme but are subject to change. We have tried to keep the prices as low as we can but had to introduce a travel policy for under 16s who have to have a responsible adult travel with them. Fans who are 16-17-years-old need a consent form from their parents or guardians to travel. These can be downloaded from the Supporters Club website, on the bus or at the Supporters Club office based in the Club Doncaster Academy. For fans’ safety we will be picking up on the inner circle adjacent to Car Park 2 this season, so you can leave your car there. You can join the Supporters Club on the bus and get discount straight away, or join online or at Supporters shop located in the Club Doncaster Academy. The price is £7 adult and £5 concessions. Call Paul on 07961727769 or Len on 01302 817347 for more details and bookings. As always we will run the home match bus from Retford, Harworth and Rossington Styrupp and Labour club, times are 1pm (6pm) 1.20pm (6.20pm) and 1.30pm (6.30pm). Times in brackets are night games, and there is no need to book. Thanks to the fans and management from Rovers who attended the Main and North branch AGMs recently, both were well attended. Enjoy the game. And get behind the team. The Retford Branch AGM will be held from 7.30pm on Thursday September 19 at Retford United’s Cannon Park ground on Leverton Road. We hope to have representatives from the club’s management in attendance. All fans are welcome. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield

VIKING SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters. The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust. The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

TRAVEL DETAILS

T R AV E L L I N G G U I D E

ON THE ROAD IPSWICH TOWN Rovers travel to Suffolk to take on Ipswich Town on Saturday September 14. Ground: Portman Road Capacity: 30,311 (all seated) Phone: 03330 050503 Postcode: IP1 2DA Travelling by car: Follow the A14 around Ipswich from which the ground is well signposted. The official route takes you from the A14 onto the A1214 into Ipswich. I though prefer to leave at the next junction and take the A137. Stay straight on this road straight into Ipswich and as you cross the bridge over the river, stay in the left-hand lane (marked town centre). Once over the river turn left at the roundabout (signposted Colchester/Bury St Edmunds) passing the Punch & Judy pub on your right. Continue along this road as it bends to the left into Commercial Road, you should be able to see the Portman Road floodlights over to your right. Move into the right-hand filter lane (marked town centre) and continue to follow the road around to the right. As you reach Fitness First/ Staples move over to the left-hand lane and at the traffic lights turn left into Princes Road. Take the next left into Portman Road itself for the ground. As the Portman Road ground is located near to the town centre there is very little free street parking. Along Portman Road, there are three Pay & Display car parks which cost £4 for four hours on Saturdays. For evening games it is less as these car parks cost only £1 after 3pm. On my last visit, I parked in one of these car parks and was pleasantly surprised at the end of the game that it didn’t take too long to get away. There are a number of other car parks located in the town centre which are signposted, plus there is an NCP multi-storey car park located right next to Ipswich Railway Station, which costs £2.70 on both Saturday afternoons and weekday evenings. Travelling by train: The ground is a five-minute walk from Ipswich Railway Station.

COVENTRY CITY Rovers head to St Andrew’s to take on Coventry City on Saturday September 28. Ground: St Andrew’s Capacity: 9,409 (all seated) Postcode: B9 4RL Travelling by car: Leave the M6 at Junction 6 and take the A38(M) for Birmingham City Centre. Take the second turn off, signposted for the Inner Ring Road. The ground is well signposted from here. There is usually no car parking available for visiting supporters other than coaches, but there is street parking available off the ring road and local private car parks. Travelling by train: Bordesley is the nearest train station, with regular matchday services from Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street stations. If travelling from Doncaster you will most likely arrive at the central New Street Station - it is a 10-minute walk or short taxi ride to Moor Steet. Or it is a walk uphill of around half an hour directly to the ground.

Young people from the Doncaster region have continued to flock onto the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme, stating how the nationwide programme is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The NCS programme, which has been running in Doncaster since 2014, has seen a record number of participants take part in 2019, with more than 640 young people expected to complete the programme.

With five out of the six waves already either completed or well underway, participants have been quick to praise the programme, going as far to say how beneficial NCS has been during their summer holiday. Participants have experienced the high-intensity phase one activities across some of the UK’s most scenic landscapes, including the Lake and Peak Districts, Powys in Wales and Shropshire.

Wave 3 participant Kyle, who is currently partaking in his Social Action project, stated how the NCS programme is something “you never get to do” normally. He said: “It’s is a once in a lifetime kind of thing; it gives you the opportunity to make new friends and try new things. “It’s fun, but it also makes you see what you can do with your life.” Worksop College has been the location for all phase two activities, where participants have enhanced skills suitable for their CVs and further strengthened bonds and friendships with other people. Neha, who signed up after first hearing about the programme in school, said: “I never really have the opportunity to do all the things you do on NCS so for me signing up was a no-brainer. “I’ve really enjoyed it. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone, and it’s made me do a lot of things I never thought I could do.”

DATE Club Doncaster Sports College and Doncaster College and University Centre have announced plans to formally enter into collaboration, creating the ultimate learning environment for students in the region looking for a career in sport.

With plenty of Social Action projects going on around Doncaster, participants have taken the time give back to the community, whilst also reflecting on their time on NCS. Asked if they would recommend the programme to others thinking of taking part, the question was met with a resounding yes from the recently graduated secondary school students. Kassandra, a former track sprinter, said: “I would recommend it to anyone because it doesn’t matter if you’re shy or confident, you’re made to feel welcome and everyone gets along. It’s a great atmosphere.” Abhisha, from McAuley Catholic High School, added: “You get to make new memories with friends and different people from your area, while having the best summer ever.” For more information on the NCS programme, please visit www.ncsyes.co.uk

The partnership will enable students from Doncaster to study qualifications in sport across both Doncaster College Hub Campus and the Keepmoat Stadium at Club Doncaster Sports Park. Students will have the opportunity to study BTECs, HNDs and degrees in highquality educational and professional sporting facilities as well being able to have full access to the support services provided by both colleges. Club Doncaster Sports College is celebrating its tenyear anniversary this year and the relationship with Doncaster College and University Centre will launch the next chapter for one of the EFL’s leading educational providers. Kathryn Brentnall, acting principal at Doncaster College, said: “We are proud and excited to be working in partnership with Club Doncaster and to announce our formal collaboration. "Together we will be able to enhance our existing offers of high-quality learning opportunities for students wishing to pursue a career in sport all the way through from level two to full honours degrees. “There are real synergies between our respective values and ambitions for education in Doncaster and this cements a relationship that also aligns with the borough objectives of anchor institutions working in partnership. “With delivery at both the Hub and the Keepmoat Stadium, students will have the opportunity to participate in practical and classroom based learning in exciting environments supported by the shared expertise of our highly qualified staff.”

Adi Turnpenny, Club Doncaster Sports College principal, said: “We are really looking forward to the partnership, to have two leading education providers in Doncaster working together is really exciting. "By combining the strengths of both Colleges, it will be of great benefit to existing and prospective sports students throughout the region."
