A word from the manager
Darren Ferguson Good evening and welcome to Neal Ardley as well as the supporters, players and staff of AFC Wimbledon. We want to finish the season off on a high, with good performances and results tonight and against Wigan Athletic on Saturday. The draw at Oldham Athletic on Saturday moved us on to 55 points, and everyone associated with the club can be proud that we have comfortably secured our place in League One for next season. It was a scrappy game at Boundary Park against a side who were desperate for points to try and stay in the league, so to come away with a clean sheet and see young Danny Amos come through a solid debut are very pleasing.

Danny’s debut caps off a good season for the boy, and the challenge is for him to build on that over the summer and challenge me to keep giving him games. The youth team have finished the season in incredible form, with eight straight wins. Kieran Scarff, John Schofield, Paul Stancliffe and the rest of the Academy deserve a lot of credit for that remarkable run. I hope the players who have been offered professional contracts, as well
as those with us as first and second year scholars next season, go on to push me for inclusion in matchday squads. We have a vision at this club of being able to bring through players consistently. Last week it was confirmed that the club were one of only 10 to be given the gold awards in the EFL’s Family Excellence scheme. This is a great achievement from marketing manager Mark Hughesman and the guys from Club Doncaster Foundation who put so much on in our family area before games. Any players we have who are not in the matchday squad go through and spend time with our younger fans, challenging them to matches of FIFA on the games consoles or taking part in other fun activities. As a club we’ve shown our commitment to engaging with fans, both at the ground and within the community, and it is one of the things that makes Rovers special. Enjoy the game

TOMMY ROWE In two years as a Rovers player, Tommy Rowe has racked up more than 100 appearances, and has his sights set on reaching more milestones with the club. Rowe went past the 100 game mark in Rovers’ win over Braford City last month, and says the achievement meant playing in the game was a bit more special than usual.
everything about the club excites me and I believe we can improve further. “Being one of the more experienced players in the squad makes it more enjoyable because it means I am able to watch the younger players come through and have an impact.”
Having a strong mindset has been the key to Rowe’s success in his career so “Obviously it was nice for far, with a number of me, it’s not something promotions on his I really kept track of CV while working “I needed to find a home personally but to be under manager and I’ve done that now, reminded in the buildDarren Ferguson. everything about the club up meant that I could excites me and I believe we appreciate the game for The No.10 has studied can improve further” what it was,” he says. psychology for the past few years in order to “To get the win on the give himself a different night as well made it even better, it’s challenge once he finishes playing, as a rare thing these days to be able to well as allowing him to deal with testing play so many games for one club so it’s times on the pitch slightly better. something I’m really proud of. him handed the captain’s armband a number of times in the absence of James Coppinger and Andy Butler, and he believes that is a sign of the trust Darren Ferguson has in him.
“It’s always nice to lead the team out, it’s something I did for the gaffer a lot when we were at Peterborough together so I “I have been to the University of Derby and think he knows what he’s going to get really enjoyed the course, there are so from me,” he says. many things to learn from and realise why different mindsets can occur. The fact that Rowe already has plans in place for when playing football is no longer an option is something which many younger players could take and use for themselves, with a career as a footballer not your average career. “I want to have something to fall back on when I finish playing, so many players don’t have that and it can come back to bite them, so I consider myself fortunate,” says Rowe. “There are so many different options or opportunities which may come up, a lot of people go into the media or coaching and that remains something I’d look at. It’s all about having an understanding that it is only a short career for us: isn’t your usual job and doesn’t last forever.” Rowe’s consistent performances during his time in South Yorkshire have seen

“Whether I’m captain or not I still try to play the same way, I will always take responsibility and lead by example wherever I’m playing on the pitch.” The 2017/18 campaign has seen the emergence of some bright talents in the Rovers squad, most notably Alfie Beestin, who has become a key player since breaking into the team in November. Rowe is a big admirer of Beestin, and has regularly complemented the 20-year-old and his ability to earn the team positive results in Sky Bet League One. “I’ve said so many times now just how good Alfie is, the form he’s been in hasn’t changed him as a person but you can see his confidence has grown,” he says. “He’s been brilliant for us and has scored some important goals, his all round
play for someone so young is fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing him improve further. “Alfie is the sort of player who will benefit from the manager and the coaching staff here, they have a proven track record of bring players like him through and developing them into top players.
To continue the interview with the midfielder we asked him a few short fire questions about more quirky topics.

“It’s important for him that he stays level headed, but I think he will because he’s that sort of person. He just takes it game by game and credit to him for that.” As one of the most experienced players in the Rovers squad, Rowe reckons one or two arrivals of the same quality in the summer transfer window may make a difference going into next season.
OR
With two games left of the current campaign though, there is still plenty to play for – with Rowe wanting a good finish to set up next season. “We’re in a position where a few good results would see us go from strength to strength, I think we all know that performances have been good but we want to be higher in the table,” Rowe adds. “We need to take care of what we can have a say in, the manager has set us out a plan and it is important that we stick to that as much as possible. Everybody wants to finish the season strongly, it does give you some momentum during pre-season as you’re used to winning games and performing well as a team.”

Hello everyone,
GRACE RYAN
Welcome to our Egame against AFC Wimbledon and thank you to everyone for being here today. Haydon the Womble could not make today unfortunately. We tried to play this game on Easter Monday, but it rained cats and (Donny) dogs! I stayed in my kennel to keep dry! I hear lots of you have renewed your Season Memberships for 2018/19.!
