A word from the manager
Darren Ferguson Good afternoon, and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium. I would like to welcome the supporters, owners, players and staff of the visitors who have come up from Milton Keynes. I expect a reaction from the players today, we have bounced back well this season and everyone is working hard to ensure we get consistent results. There is a real unity and sense of purpose which runs through the club, from players to backroom staff to everyone who works at the ground.
Today sees a lot of events before the match to mark the official opening of the new 4G pitch which adds to the facilities we have here at the Keepmoat Stadium. The facilities we have here at Club Doncaster Sports Village are a real help when it comes to developing the younger players in our Academy system, and it is a testament to the vision of the owners that they are pushing for investment which can bring real long-term rewards. Enjoy the game.
The support for the team in recent weeks has been incredible, and has really helped us as a team. That was particularly evident against Rotherham United in our last match at the Keepmoat Stadium, with close to 12,500 in the ground which created a great atmosphere.

you. Deep!)
Good afternoon, and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium. I would like to welcome the supporters, owners, players and staff of the visitors who have come up from Milton Keynes. Tuesday night was frustrating for anyone connected with Rovers, but we have been brilliant at bouncing back from setbacks this season and there is every reason to expect a reaction from the players today. Those of you who were at the Keepmoat Stadium earlier today may have seen the official opening of the new 4G pitch, as we continue to expand the facilities of Club Doncaster Sports Village. We now have three floodlit full size pitches in addition to the main Keepmoat Stadium pitch, as well as eight floodlit smaller pitches. This is another milestone towards delivering the owners’ vision for Club Doncaster, where we are a hub for elite sport in the town and region. Rovers’ Academy programme will make good use of these facilities, which are also available for hire by the general public.
Rovers’ first year scholars are taking part in the next NCS programme, which is delivered by the Foundation. NCS really helps young people develop life skills – which will help us ensure anyone who comes through our Academy is as fully rounded an individual as we can. Since the last home game, we’ve announced concerts from pop stars Steps and A-ha who will perform at the Keepmoat Stadium in June. Again, these show the pulling power and ever growing reputation we enjoy. We were able to negotiate an exclusive presale period for DNA Card holders, who also saw booking fees waived. Tickets for the concerts are available from our Box Office now on 01302 762576 or tickets. clubdoncaster.co.uk. Concert tickets would make great Christmas presents, while our marketing team will spend the rest of this week finalising offers for an exclusive advent calendar of Club Doncaster deals to run from December 1. Keep your eyes on our website and social media for details. Enjoy the game
Another aspect of Club Doncaster we are proud of the success seen by Jan Budtz and his National Citizen Service team, who have continually brought in record numbers of participants.

MATHIEU BAUDRY Mathieu Baudry has had to endure the frustration of injury ruling him out both the two pre-season schedules since signing for Rovers in the summer of 2016. But, despite that, on both occasions he has slotted straight back in to the heart of the defence upon his return, with his unique style becoming integral to the way Rovers play. Baudry has been added to a back three after the early season pairing of Joe Wright and Andy Butler flourished, and he is enjoying being out on the pitch with the both of them.

had a run together last season and we know each other’s strengths so that’s something we try and work on. “It’s been nice to get back out on the pitch, it’s been a long road for me with the injury and a few setbacks along the way so it’s been a lot of hard work.
“It was frustrating having to build up to playing 90 minutes, but it’s part of the process and it’s important that we manage the recovery.” “It was frustrating having to build up to Manager Darren Ferguson playing 90 minutes, often spoke about having but it’s important we to hold Baudry back from manage the recovery” returning too early.
“It’s been a bit different for me as I’ve had to adapt to playing on the left side of a three which is totally new to me,” he says.
The central defender says that was all down to frustration of not being able to help the team through a tough spell in Sky Bet League One.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS things aren’t going well, I like to take responsibility on the pitch so you feel useless when you can’t play,” says Baudry. “It was hard to be patient and the gaffer has said a few times that he had to hold me back, which was a good thing in the long run as it means I’m in a better place now. “I’m back in the rhythm now and have a taste for the flow of the game so I’m happy to have been playing 90 minutes in the past few weeks. “I’ve been lucky that we’ve had some good results since I returned, I feel like I add something to the team and really enjoy being out there with the lads.” As a defender, your job first and foremost is to keep the ball out of your net and provide a solid foundation from which to build from. For Baudry though, he sees himself as an asset to the team at both ends of the pitch with his flair and creativity something which makes him stand out on the pitch.
into defence, centre back is a difficult position and I feel as though sometimes my defensive work can be overlooked.” The 29-year-old is now with his third English club after spells with Bournemouth and Leyton Orient, but feels it is at the Keepmoat Stadium where he has been allowed to express himself the most. “The manager here is the first to really embrace the way I play, he wants me to improve and create things from the back which is one of the biggest reasons why I signed,” Baudry says. “There is a philosophy of playing expansive football, I like the way the gaffer sets up as he wants to create lots of chances and score goals which is good to be a part of. “We’ve got a good balance in the team with the system we’ve used in the past few weeks, we’ve got some good defensive minded players but we have a lot of creativity in the team as well.”
With the average age of the Rovers squad now in the low-to-mid-20s, Baudry is seen as one of the more senior figures in “Playing out from the back has always been how I play, it’s a mentality I have that Darren Ferguson’s starting XI. by example and take responsibility with others around me,” he says. “I respect everyone whether they are young and old, we’re all at different stages in our career so if I can help the younger players here then I’ll do everything I can.
To continue the interview with the defender we asked him a few short fire questions about more quirky topics.

“There are players in the team who get recognised more by the fans than I do but that isn’t something which is a problem for me, I’m happy to let others get the attention. “Copps and Butts are loved by the fans and that’s something which I would like, so I’ll keep doing my stuff and playing my football.”

Baudry and Rovers are starting to find their feet in the third tier of the EFL, with a busy schedule coming up in Sky Bet League One along with games in the FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy. “The league was always going to be tougher this season, the gaffer is building the club and you can see where the club is going throughout the whole structure,” he adds. “League One is getting better, there is so much investment in the leagues above that better players start to filter down to this level which makes it harder. “From when I signed the club has improved massively both on and off the pitch, we have a great team spirit now and the fans are behind us every week.”

Defender Joe Wright says the current Rovers formation helps him add an extra dimension to his game. Wright has accompanied Andy Butler and Mathieu Baudry in a back three and the Welshman says having those two alongside him helps develop as a player. “Myself, Butler and Baudry are building up a strong relationship up at the back, the wing-backs help us out too and it is a formation that is helping to get the best out of us going forward,” he said. “Having someone like Butler in your ear helps, it helps the whole team actually and that can only be a good thing, Jordan Houghton and Rodney Kongolo provide that extra cover as well. This formation allows you to add an extra dimension to your game, it allows you to do some 1v1

defending which is good sometimes and it is really helping me develop as a player.” Darren Ferguson’s side became the first team to stop Fleetwood scoring at home in Sky Bet League One this season on Saturday, and Wright felt Rovers were unlucky not to pick up all three points. “We had the best chances in the game and I think they only created chances through some of our mistakes really, but overall we cancelled them out,” he added. “John Marquis never stopped chasing their back line down, he ran himself into the ground and you could see at the end of the game that he was tired to be fair to him. Their keeper has pulled off two fantastic saves in the second half to deny John, he was unlucky and on another day he probably scores both of those.”
In an EFL first, clubs across the country will unite in their support of LGBT+ inclusivity by turning their corner flags rainbow coloured to raise awareness of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign. The bespoke rainbow coloured corner flags sit at the heart of a wide range of activities that the EFL and its clubs will be undertaking as part of the Rainbow Laces campaign between today and December 3. In a show of solidarity to support lesbian, gay, bi and trans-gender fans, players and staff across the game the EFL will change its logo to a bespoke rainbow coloured version while clubs have also been provided with rainbow laces, captain’s armbands and programme adverts. Match officials have also been provided with rainbow coloured laces for
EFL matches. Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign aims to make sport everyone’s game with national teams, leading clubs, professional players, fans and grassroots players from across football showing their support for LGBT+ people in sport. The EFL’s support for Rainbow Laces forms part of its wider LGBT+ work delivered in conjunction with clubs through its Equality Code Of Practice. This includes delivering activities, setting policies, and advising on recruitment and education at Clubs. Shaun Harvey, EFL chief executive said: “We are proud to support Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign again for this season. The EFL and our Clubs are committed to providing a positive experience for all that stretches well beyond the 90 minutes of play.”

Pick from a quality line up
Rovers have added to their schoolboy teams after successful open trials this autumn. Riley Scott, Lincoln Gledall, Finely Soffe, Theo Roberts, Liam Thompson and Josh Parkinson have all joined Rovers’ U10 side.
The success of these players highlights the focus placed on youth development at Club Doncaster, which was again in the spotlight before today’s match with the official opening of the new 4G pitch at Club Doncaster Sports Village.
George Smith has joined the U9s, while Harry Higgins has been added to the U11s and Ben Stobart is linking up with the U12s.
Club Doncaster chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “We now have three floodlit full size pitches at the Club Doncaster Sports Village in addition to the main Keepmoat Stadium pitch, as well as eight floodlit smaller pitches.
Isn’t it time you joined the team?
Ben Mawson, head of coaching and development, said: “This is great news and showcases the pathway that exists within the Development centre.
“This is another milestone towards delivering the owners’ vision for Club Doncaster, where we are a hub for elite sport in the town and region.

Former England youth international Nicholls has firmly established himself as Milton Keynes’ first choice keeper this season.
A former Manchester United youth academy captain, Wootton signed for Milton Keynes last summer on a two-year deal.
Nicholls came up through the ranks at Wigan Athletic, but made just 12 appearances in his seven years with the Latics.
Wootton made only a handful of appearances for the Red Devils, spending time out on-loan at Tranmere Rovers, Nottingham Forest and Peterborough United, before signing with Leeds United in 2013.
He spent most of his time with Wigan away from the DW Stadium in various loan spells, notably with Accrington Stanley, Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers. He arrived in Buckinghamshire last summer, signing a two-year deal with the club, and this season took over the number one shirt at Stadium MK.

He scored on his debut against Rovers in the League Cup in a 3-1 win, and went on to make 74 appearances for United. His first season with Milton Keynes was injury-hit, and he made only one appearance in the league, but has been a key member of the squad this term.
MIDFIELD MAESTRO
DEADLY STRIKER
Another former England youth international, Upson is in his second season in Milton Keynes.
Everton youth product Agard has been one of Sky Bet League One’s most revered strikers in recent years.
Upson began his career with Ipswich Town, winning the FA Youth Cup with the Tractor Boys in 2005.
Picked up by the Toffees after seven years with Arsenal, Agard made a move to Yeovil Town in 2011, but the forward struggled to find form in Somerset.
A move to Yeovil Town then saw him make a name for himself, becoming a club legend during his four years with the Glovers. He was a part of the side that won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs at Wembley Stadium in 2013, before making a move to Millwall the following year. Upson spent three seasons at The New Den, before making the move to Buckinghamshire in June 2016.

It was with Rotherham United, however, where Agard was at his most prolific. He scored 27 goals in two seasons as he helped the Millers to back-toback promotions up to the Championship. One season later, he fired Bristol City to the League One title, before moving to Milton Keynes last summer.

We will play rush keepers again, with MacKenzie having to step back when needed. Began his professional career in his home nation of Scotland where he played for Rangers between 2004 and 2006, making just two appearances. After a four-year stint at Dundee, Mackenzie then made the move down South and into England where he made 63 appearances, scoring three goals for MK Dons. He later left Stadium MK in 2013, where he went on to play for both Blackpool and Bradford City before joining Paul Dickov’s Rovers team in the summer of 2015 where he made 12 appearances in the same season Rovers were relegated to League Two and Mackenzie moved onto St Mirren - where he still playing now.
Came through the academy at Aston Villa before moving to Southampton, where he broke into the first team in 2008. To continue his development the Saints sent him out on loan to MK Dons where he played in the league, contributing to their 12th place finish in League One that season. Former Rovers manager Paul Dickov then brought the midfielder to the Keepmoat Stadium on loan from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Queens Park Rangers, Gobern went on to make five appearances before having his time in South Yorkshire abruptly halted as he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury. At this moment in time Gobern is a free agent after leaving Ross County earlier this year.
MIDFIELDERS Michael McINDOE Started his career in 1998 at Luton Town, McIndoe spent two years at the Hatters before spending brief spells with Hereford and Yeovil. After his time with the Glovers in 2003, he joined Rovers under Dave Penney and went on to make 122 appearances, scoring 28 goals during that period. During his first season with Rovers he made it into the PFA Team of the Year for Division Three as well as featuring in Rovers’ famous Carling Cup run where Rovers beat Aston Villa and Manchester City – scoring in both games. After leaving Belle Vue in 2006, McIndoe went on to play for Barnsly, Wolves, Bristol City and Coventry. He had a loan spell at MK Dons, making seven appearances for them before ending his career the following year back at the Sky Blues.

STRIKERS Lewis GUY
Guy (pictured) spent two spells with Rovers in his career. He began off in 2005 on loan from Newcastle, scoring three goals in nine appearances. He helped Rovers to a comfortable eighth place finish in League One which was enough to convince Dave Penney to make his move permanent to Belle Vue, where
he stayed for five years making 139 appearances and scoring 15 goals during that time. For his last two years he went on loan at Hartlepool and Oldham respectively. Guy then transferred straight from Rovers to MK Dons in 2010 where he stayed for two years, playing 35 games before joining St Mirren.
Jay EMMANUEL-THOMAS The striker started his career in north London at the Arsenal Academy. While with the Gunners, Emmanuel-Thomas had a short loan spell at Blackpool, before having another short loan spell with Rovers in 2010. During his time at the Keepmoat Stadium he scored five goals in 14 appearances helping Rovers finish in a stable 14th place in the Championship under Sean O’Driscoll. He is now is at Queens Park Rangers and during his second year at the London club he moved to MK Dons on loan for a short period of time where he featured in four games, but failed to make a great impact, so returned back to QPR before joining Gillingham on loan for the 2016/17 season.

MY WEEK: HEAD OF ACADEMY Overseeing Rovers’ young players right up to first-team level is a demanding task, Kieran Scarff talks us through his daily actions MONDAY I get up at 5.30am and aim to be at the training ground by 7.30am. The day normally starts with a gym session, then I am in the office from 8.15am onwards. At 8.45am we have an Academy management team meeting, which sees us planning for the week ahead. That involves coaches not just from the youth team, but down all the age groups as well as the education, recruitment and admin staff. Hopefully I can be out on the training pitch later in the morning, though there can often be other meetings at the club. The youth team players spend their Monday afternoons at college, and it’s usually a time where I can get a bit of paperwork done. Then we have evening training for 9-12 age groups at the Keepmoat Stadium and 13-16 at Cantley Park. TUESDAY This is pretty similar, though the y outh team train in the morning and afternoon. The 1316s also have training in the evening, so I try to take in some of that and if the first-team are at home I’ll go
22
down to support them. Sometimes I also need to go and watch games elsewhere if needed, either for the Academy or first-team. WEDNESDAY This is a day off for staff, which I often spend doing quite a lot of admin at home. The youth team are in college all day. THURSDAY The usual morning
routine, but we’re into game preparation with the youth team. Our analyst John will have prepared some clips so we have a video meeting, either just before or after the first team before training. The youth team train in morning and afternoon, with more schoolboy sessions in the evening.
so I leave them to it before and during the match. During play I tend to stand a little bit away from the pitch to get a better picture of what’s going on. I can feed my thoughts back in through the coaches, but we’re very fortunate to have experienced staff.
FRIDAY This is a shorter day, and the youth team train only once as they will have a game on the following day. Again, the focus is on preparation for the weekend game.
1.15pm: If we’re at home and the first team are, I get to the Keepmoat Stadium about now. The gaffer and his staff are very interested in how we did, and likes to get feedback on the team’s performance straight away so we have time for a chat over a coffee in his office. If we’re away I’ll call the gaffer as soon as the game has finished.
MATCHDAY 9am: If the youth team are at home I get in before the players report in at 9.30am. If we have an away match the timings will vary depending on the distance needed to travel. 11am: The game kicks off. We have staff who have responsibility for the team,
3pm: I tend to watch the game from the TV gantry at the back of the West Stand, alongside our first-team analyst Adam. If needed, I may go to watch younger players who are out on loan. For example, recently that has included watching Reece Fielding and Tyler Walker who have been on loan at Biggleswade Town. SUNDAY I am back in Doncaster to watch the schoolboy sides play, there is roughly a 50/50 split between the age groups who are playing at home and those who are away. I think it is really important to see what is going on. I enjoy Sunday mornings, they are quite relaxed and I take in bits of all the games I can.

Paul Stancliffe was delighted with the reaction from his players as they secured a 1-0 victory over Lincoln City U18s. A second half strike from Lewis Scattergood was enough to separate the two sides on the day and Stancliffe was pleased to be back to winning ways. He said: “It’s always important to win and we make sure the players know that, it is part of what we want them to get out of it, but we still can’t get away from the fact that we are looking for performances and player progression, that’s the most important thing. We were bitterly disappointed with the result against Blackpool but that’s gone and we had to move on – and that’s exactly what they’ve done. “Credit to the players though, they’ve worked ever so hard and they tried to play some good stuff at times, which wasn’t easy as it was a bumpy a pitch.”

TEN YEARS AGO: DONCASTER ROVERS IN SEASON 2007-08. Part 10 After the disappointing home reverse to Yeovil Town, manager Sean O’Driscoll rang the changes for the visit to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday December 22. Out went Mark Wilson, Martin Woods and Lewis Guy, with Paul Green, James Coppinger and J. J. Price coming in to the starting XI. The changes had the desired effect and Rovers produced a much more energetic display, inspired in particular by the tireless running of Green. After Price had seen a shot blocked on the line by Baudet, he gave Rovers the lead after 38 minutes after James Hayter’s pin-point through ball sprung Crewe’s offside trap. Five minutes into the second half, Price repeated the dose, again beating a static defence to shoot past Williams for 2-0. Crewe were further hampered when Roberts was sent off for a second offence, fouling Green with ten minutes remaining. Rovers took advantage in the dying moments when first Green, following a defensive mistake, and then substitute Guy completed a 4-0 win. The win at Crewe sent Rovers and their fans into Christmas in a much happier mood and there was a good crowd of 7,046 at the Keepmoat Stadium for the visit of Northampton Town on Boxing Day.
26
Mark McCammon (pictured) replaced James Hayter, who dropped to the bench. The change paid dividends after just 11 minutes. A sweeping move ended when Coppinger’s cross was helped on by Green and finished at the back post by McCammon. Rovers doubled their advantage after 28 minutes when Adam Lockwood glanced in Brian Stock’s corner at the near post. Rovers suffered a blow early in the second half when left-back Sean McDaid came off injured to be replaced by the fit-again Gareth Roberts, but despite this setback they dominated the half and could have added to the 2-0 scoreline, Steve Roberts twice heading against the Town crossbar. McCammon, deployed in a wide role on the left and Coppinger on the right both had fine games and constantly stretched the Northampton defence. Despite failing to score again, Rovers had secured their first home League win for almost two months and had moved up into sixth place. On Saturday December 29, Rovers hosted their final League One game of 2007, with Southend United the visitors. Gareth Roberts for the injured McDaid was the only change from Boxing Day as Rovers sought a third win in a row.
In front of an improved crowd of 7,163, Rovers took the lead after seven minutes with almost a carbon copy of the second against Northampton, Lockwood heading in a Stock corner. Rovers were well on top and it came as a surprise when Southend equalised after 18 minutes, McDonald heading in Gower’s centre. Rovers were back in front on the halfhour, again from a Stock corner. Price’s initial shot was blocked but the ball fell to Green who lashed home. Another corner produced the third goal, after 41 minutes, when goalkeeper Collis’s punch fell to Gareth Roberts who volleyed in from 15 yards. Despite the introduction of Guy, Woods and finally Hayter, another scoreless second half followed, but Rovers had completed their third win in a week and O’Driscoll’s changes had proved to be fully justified. Rovers headed into 2008 where they wanted to be: in the League One play-off zone and with the impetus to push for an automatic promotion place. They would start the New Year with a visit to Walsall followed by a home game against fellow promotion challengers Carlisle United, then the muchanticipated trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United. NEWS
Hello everyone, Welcome to our game against MK Dons. I am really excited that Cooplands kindly made us some little dog biscuits which went down a treat at our last game. I can confirm they were gingerbread as some of you looked a little concerned! Hello to all my friends visiting from Auckley School, Barnby Dun Primary & Bentley High Street. I hope you enjoyed meeting the players last week and you cheer them on loudly today! Players visited primary schools across the region last Monday as part of the Rovers Roadshow. John Marquis, Alfie May, Rodney Kongolo, Alfie Beestin, Marko Marosi and Tyler Garratt popped into Auckley Primary, Barnby Dun and Bentley High Street schools in visits organised by Club Doncaster Foundation. The players answered questions from pupils focusing on resilience, as well as explaining how hard they had to work to become professional footballers.
28
Club Doncaster marketing manager Mark Hughesman said: “We have pushed to get more players out in the community than ever this season, and it was great to be able to stop off at three primary schools.
Enjoy the game!
Donny DOg
“The questions were brilliant and you could see the pupils really engaging with the players. “We also left letters with free tickets for our next home game against MK Dons, so I hope to see a few of the youngsters again then.”
Enjoying some gingerbread! 29

The latest from the
Communications team SOCIAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS On Monday afternoon I was privileged to join Andy Butler in stopping to see a young Rovers fan called Stan Green. Stan is a pupil at Bessacarr Primary School, who the Club Doncaster Foundation work closely with. His school told us he was due to go into hospital to have a brain tumour removed, and wondered if we may be able to send something to help cheer him up. We can do better than that. Andy volunteered to visit Stan as soon as I told him and after training on Monday went to say hello. Stan was recovering after the operation, and was remarkably unaffected by it all in the way only a child can be. He quickly challenged Andy to a game of Fifa 18, where both played as Rovers. Remarkably, both managed to get Joe Wright sent off and the game finished level to ensure honour. Taking players into the community is always satisfying, whether it is a full squad visit like our summer trip into Doncaster Market or taking a couple of players into a primary school. The previous Monday we took Marko Marosi, Tyler Garratt, Rodney Kongolo, Alfie Beestin, John Marquis and Alfie May into local schools to answer questions. The visits were organised with Club
42
Doncaster Foundation’s partner schools, and it is something we plan to repeat before as many home games this season as we can. As an added bonus, every child at the school was entitled to a free ticket to an upcoming game – so hopefully there will be a few new faces in the Club Doncaster Foundation Family Stand today. The trip to Rochdale on Tuesday will be a groundbreaking one for Rovers, as it will be the first competitive match has been streamed online for domestic users. All Sky Bet League One games have been available for overseas iFollow Rovers subscribers this season, but all our remaining Checkatrade Trophy games from now until the semi-final stage will be available to watch live on iFollow Rovers. The best bit is we have decided to allow this to be free for anyone who currently pays for a monthly or annual susbcription - if you do not have this, you can pay a one-off £5. We will also have audio commentary available from the Crown Oil Arena if you prefer to follow through that, but it is a taste of a service that the EFL and ourselves plan to extend further next season - with league games available for live streaming for fans in the UK and Ireland rather than just those overseas. SUPPORTERS Official Supporters Club A good afternoon and a big welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium to MK Dons. 480 Rovers fans made the trip to see us gain a valuable point at Fleetwood, If anything, we deserved to nick all three points. We went into Fleetwood’s club pre match and was made really welcome, well worth a visit, and their SLO Adam looked after us well. The next away game is at Rochdale in the Check trade Trophy on Tuesday night, coaches will leave Retford at 3.55pm, Harworth 4.10pm, Rossington 4.20pm Infirmary 4.30pm and the Keepmoat Stadium at 4.45pm, its pay on the day at the turnstiles for this game. This is followed by Oxford United on Saturday 9th December: bus times are in the programme, please book early, so we know how many buses to book. Prior notice for the game v Bristol Rovers on December 23, we are hoping to stop of at Cirencester on the way down so the bus times will change. Please book early if you intend to travel, and let us know if you need cancel your seats, When parking at the Keepmoat Stadium for away games, only use car park 2 unless notified by the club or Paul, as the other car parks are now monitered and we don’t want anyone ending up with a parking fine. Our North Branch run coaches to most away games from

Carcroft, Adwick, and points along the A19 , a good active branch, it makes it much easier to travel if you live that way on call 07780316923 for more information. We also run coaches for certain games from the Sprotborough area, and the travel club have pick ups in the Hatfield area. Don’t forget we do run a bus to all home games from Retford to the Keepmoat Stadium, stopping at Harworth, Rossington and along the main route down Bawtry Road so put your hand up to stop us – fares are very reasonable too. You can join the Supporters Club on the away coaches or at the Supporters Club shop which is situated in the Club Doncaster Academy before home matches. You can also book on the coaches there or call Paul on 07961727769, or you can download a form at doncasterroverssupportersclub.com. If you need any old programmes from any Rovers games, the Supporters Club shop has a vast variety stretching over the past 40 years. Rovers till we die Paul Mayfield
Viking Supporters Co-Operative About 12 months ago two football supporters, one from Liverpool and one from Everton, were travelling back from a football supporters type meeting that had been held that day in London. As they sat on the train heading northwest they were discussing ideas for football supporters to utilise their strong community roots and to somehow help those who were less fortunate than themselves: #FansSupportingFoodbanks was born. The success they have enjoyed since that day has seen many hundreds of families benefit from the football community coming together and showing their support for their fellow man rather than just their football team. The idea has grown to a point where they are a key contributor to the foodbanks within the Liverpool area and their ongoing work has attracted a lot of interest and support from around the country.
92 clubs in the Premier League and EFL could mirror this very same idea and use the community spirit in such a positive way. So, supporters at Doncaster Rovers are also keen to join in this football community driven idea and very shortly a collection point will be established at all DRFC home games. Many families in the Doncaster area need the help of foodbanks, let us, as DRFC supporters, show that the football community can help them in times of need. Please help by supporting the foodbank, or giving up some of your time and volunteer a few hours on a matchday to help those who need it. If you wish to help call Martin on 07825 632516. Martin O’Hara
Newcastle United’s supporters trust replicated the idea and has also proven to be an ongoing success. Huddersfield Town have also started to follow in the same footsteps as their bigger brothers and hope that they can be as supportive of their local community. At a recent meeting held in Newcastle an idea was floated that supporters from all

The group, who struggle with mental health issues, have learnt how to safely ride a bike on the roads, which not only improves their health but also reduces their carbon footprint when making journeys. They also hope the new skills acquired during the bikeability course can give them an advantage in their quest for employment. Jackie Thompson, the building manager at PFG said: “It’s amazing that Club Doncaster Foundation have offered this opportunity to them, it really it helps with their confidence, health and with life skills. A lot of our members cant afford bikes, so the fact they

Club Doncaster Foundation’s Scott Copeland said: “Participants have varying levels of competency and experience on a bike and this lead us to deliver a bikeabilty course for those who weren’t as confident. “We are looking at delivering the next stage of the course in the new year to further develop participants’ skills and encourage them to make short journeys safely by bike.”

CLUB DONCASTER The Keepmoat Stadium will host two of pop’s greatest comeback stories in June 2018 as A-ha and Steps perform concerts at the venue. A-ha will perform their biggest hits on Thursday June 14 as part of their 2018 Summer Electric tour. Then Steps will take to the stage on Sunday June 17 on their Steps Of Summer tour, which is part of their 20th anniversary celebrations. The band said: “We can’t wait to play outdoors across the UK next summer. The appetite for Steps has never been stronger, and we are thrilled to continue performing. We promise to deliver a massive party at our summer gigs. – we cannot wait to see you there.”

DONCASTER ROVERS BELLES Morten Harket, of A-ha, said: “It’s exciting to play outdoors and take our music to locations which are not traditional Arena touring places. We are very much looking forward to playing in Doncaster.”
Monique Watson bagged her first senior goal as the Belles overcame tricky conditions to go top of the FA WSL 2 table.
Tickets for Steps are priced at £39.50 (bronze), £45 (silver), £50 seated and £65 (golden circle). Booking fees apply.
A first half own goal and Jess Sigsworth’s bundled effort game the Belles the half-time lead, before Watson and Christie Murray sealed the game for Kate Rowson’s team.
Tickets for the A-ha concert cost £45 (silver), £50 for seated and £65 (golden circle).
Wendy Martin grabbed a late consolation for the hosts, but it was not enough to deny the Belles a convincing victory.
You can buy tickets now from the Club Doncaster Box Office on 01302 762576 or tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk.

Scotland international’s goal was also ruled out. Kirsty Hanson continued her great form this season with a burst run into the box before her cross was turned home by defender Ryah Vyse. And it was two not long after when Hanson again caused problems for the Spurs backline and found Sigsworth to bundle the ball into the net. Half time saw the introduction of Watson, and it wasn’t long before she was in on the action. Watson showed great composure oneon-one with Toni-Anne Wayne in the Spurs goal to slot home, then Murray sealed the game when she smashed home a bullet diving header.
