Darren Ferguson Welcome to Martin Allen, the players, directors, staff and fans of Barnet. Martin’s sides are always among the most hard-working around, so we know we will have to put a real shift in to get something from the game.
Their goal knocked us a wee bit, but for the last 20 minutes of the first-half and most of the second-half we played some really good football. It just shows we have some really good players at the club to bring through. They have done really well in both our Checkatrade Trophy games this season – Derby’s front four is worth millions, but we handled them well.
Tuesday was a real test because of the quality Derby had in their team, and their early goal knocked us a little bit. We had 14 U-21 players in the 18 so the changes to the tournament have not hindered our development, the only thing I am interested in is winning matches and going as far as we can in the tournament – and we now have a good chance of progressing from the group. Enjoy today’s game.

Confidence among the players is high, and we had good results in our past two matches against Portsmouth and Derby County. We dug in deep at Fratton Park for the win, and followed that up with a good showing against Derby back at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night.
I couldn’t have asked for more in terms of getting young players a game, and also a run-out for players like Mathieu Baudry, Paul Keegan and Niall Mason coming back from their injuries. I now know they are back to full fitness and ready to go. It makes it harder for me when picking the team now, but that is exactly what I want.

Gavin Baldwin Good afternoon, and welcome back to the Keepmoat for today’s visit of Barnet. I’d like to welcome the directors, staff and players who have made the trip up from London, and wish them a safe journey home afterwards.
Then it was another good performance against Derby County. The changes to the Checkatrade Trophy this season have proved controversial, and we did not support them. EFL clubs recently voted against allowing B teams into the league, which many feared was the ultimate aim of these changes. We are committed to listening to feedback from fans – and I’m sure it will have been discussed at our regular Supporters Board meeting before today’s match – about the tournament.
It is pleasing to see tickets selling well for the senior women’s international we are hosting on Friday October 21, when England take on France in a high-profile friendly. Don’t forget that our season ticket holders can attend for just £5/£2.50. The standard prices are £7.50/£3.50, with discounts for groups and Charter Standard football clubs. You can get tickets by calling into our Box Office, from our website or by calling 01302 762576. Finally, I'm pleased to be able to inform fans of discussions for Rovers to go on a pre-season trip to Thailand, which would run from July 13-22 2017, in partnership with our kit suppliers FBT. We expect to have more details about the trip, which would include packages for fans, as soon as we can.
Gavin
07 Chief Executives Comments
The character shown by our players in the past two games has been phenomenal. The win at Fratton Park on Saturday moved us up to second in the table and made the round trip of more than 500 miles worth it for everyone who went down – and it was a great effort from almost 500 supporters who were there backing the players.
From a playing perspective, though, it has worked out well for us in the sense that it has allowed us to give young players like Alfie Beestin and Liam Mandeville some valuable experience and ease our players who are returning from injuries back into the squad.

Club Doncaster Foundation hosted the National Citizen Service summer graduation at the end of last month to celebrate the success of those who completed the programme. Almost 500 participants arrived at Doncaster Deaf Trust to celebrate their hard work and collect their certificates for various achievements as part of the NCS graduation ceremony. The evening recognised a summer of physically and mentally enduring challenges at an outdoor residential, which included a voluntary 30-hour community social action. Doncaster Rovers players Joe Pugh and Ross Etheridge were in attendance to show their support as well as the Deputy Civic Mayor, Councillor George Derx who was on hand to congratulate them for their success. Delighted with the outcome of the evening, NCS Programme Manager, Jan Budtz said: “It was great to see all the graduates receiving their certificates and letting their hair down after a summer of hard work; they can be so proud of their achievements.” “The voluntary 30-hour community social action stands out for me, they have made such a significant difference across the Borough of Doncaster as well as building up invaluable life skills to take into the future.” While on the programme, the young people complete a series of adrenalin filled activities and complete courses such as first aid training to further enhance their life skills before they aid the community in a social action plan. NCS is open to all 15-17 year olds in the region and the Club Doncaster Foundation will begin recruiting in November for the next set of adventures taking place in spring 2017 and summer 2017. Club News England Women will take on France at the Keepmoat Stadium as they begin their UEFA Euro 2017 preparations.
“We’re pleased that France have agreed to come over and play us. We haven’t beaten them for a long time so we’re looking to change that.
The Lionesses will entertain France, third in the FIFA world rankings on Friday 21 October (8pm).
“They are the third best team in the world so it is a great test for us and if we’re going to do well at the Euros we’ll have to beat teams like France on the way.
Tickets for the game are on sale priced £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for concessions. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is available at £15 and group booking and Charter Standard discounts apply.
Tickets can be purchased via the Club Doncaster Box Office in person, by calling 01302 762576. The two sides last came together in March, in a closely-fought 0-0 draw at the SheBelieves Cup. England have already sealed qualification for next summer’s tournament, which will take place in Netherlands, following a 7-0 win over Serbia back in June. England head coach Mark Sampson said: “We want to focus on playing European opposition between now and next summer’s Euros. ”There are some excellent nations who will be at the tournament and the more experience we can have playing them, the better prepared we’ll be.
“We’re looking forward to playing at Doncaster. The area has such a big women’s football history and the Keepmoat is a great stadium so it will hopefully make for a great game.” Gavin Baldwin, Chief Executive of Club Doncaster added: “We are delighted to welcome Mark Sampson and the England Women’s team to the Keepmoat Stadium as they take on France in what should be a fantastic game. “Our area has a long association with the women’s game, with the Belles side one of the most iconic names since their formation in 1969. I am delighted that we can build on that by hosting this game and hope we get a good crowd to support the Lionesses.”

The role includes the responsibility of keeping accurate staff records on sickness and annual leave as well as updating policies and procedures as required by the CEO and College Principal.
Liam Mandeville is aware the form of John Marquis and Andy Williams means he has to be patient in the search for first-team football. Mandeville has scored twice this season, against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup and Derby County in the Checkatrade Trophy. “Every year I just want to get more. John and Willo are on fire at the moment and I know that it’s difficult to break through so I want to learn off them and take my chance when I come on and hope I do well.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea but I’d have a go at trying to whip it in to the top corner,” he concludes light-heartedly at the conclusion of an interview with RAW which emphasised how seriously he’s taking his chance between the sticks right now.

“I wouldn’t say I was first choice,” he reminds us in the face of competition from Ross Etheridge. “I keep my feet on the ground. I try to stay as humble as I can, that’s the way I’ve been brought up. My dad always told me to have patience, that’s the most important thing. If you have that then it’ll come to you, stay positive. “I’d played a couple of games in three years but I don’t think there was a day where I didn’t want to be here. I see it as a challenge, I want to show people that I can do it and I do belong here and I’m still trying my hardest and improving every day with Gez (Paul Gerrard). “No, in truth (I didn’t think I’d leave in the summer). To be honest, I always thought my time would come if I waited and stayed positive.” Both parties agreed, in light of last week’s impressive win at Portsmouth, built on some sturdy defending, that it was only right we

“First half I thought we did really well, we scored two early goals which is important especially against a team like that and how many fans they had. I thought we defended really well, there was a lack of concentration and it led to their goal but second half – when we knew they would come out guns blazing – Andy (Butler) and Joe Wright dealt with them really well. Andy had a clearance off the line which was amazing, it looked cheeky, but I thanked him for it. That’s what it takes, we look after each other, we work hard for each other but overall I thought we defended really well and deserved to win.
“To be perfectly honest with you, I haven’t been following it – I don’t have a clue who they have. I watched the Slovakia v England game, it was disappointing to get beaten in the last minute but that’s football, it happens, even at the top level. I haven’t been following it at all, I’ll flick through the news for the football and will probably come across it but I’m trying to concentrate on myself and get a rest when I need it and learn where I can improve.
“We went there and knew what they were about – what the fans were like – it’s loud and we knew that if we gave them a hard time, the fans would turn on them and they did. In League Two, to have a bigger attendance than some Championship clubs is amazing, it’s great to see and it’s a great experience even if you can’t hear each other speak on the pitch and for confidence it’s huge, you want to do well every game but there was a little ‘kick’ to it which made it extra special. “I usually watch my clips over on Sunday morning when I get up first thing and look at the things that I’ve done, every time I’ve touched the ball, and pick out things I can improve on – there’s a lot! After today’s game, some fans will jump in their cars and switch their radios to England’s World Cup Qualifier against Malta, yet the Slovakian stopper admits he’s too
“We want to keep our home form going for as long as we can. We want to win every game. We’re not always going to play perfectly. For example at Portsmouth we weren’t perfect but we won the game. We work as a team and work tremendously hard, starting with the front two and it spreads through the team. “I think it’s important to keep the home run going. We want to strike fear in to the opponents. They’re going to come to the Keepmoat and if they want to come out with anything, they’re going to have to play us for those points because we’re not going to give them anything. That’s what we’re trying to do; make it a horrible place to come to. We want the opponents to fear us. I think it comes from the winning mentality in the team; we want to do the best we can. We’re confident but we know there’s still a lot to be improved upon but we’re all on the same page. I think the gaffer wants us to be like that as well, we want them beaten before

Famous for being the youngest ever FA Cup finalist in 2004 when he came on as a substitute in the final for Millwall against Manchester United. Allen has been back at Barnet since March 2014 for the fourth time of a varied managerial career. ‘Mad Dog’ guided them to the National League title and has done a good job of keeping them competitive in the fourth tier. His playing career saw him make over 100 league appearances for QPR and West Ham which was followed by spells with Portsmouth and Southend. He began his managerial career at Underhill in March 2003 in the Conference prior to departing for Brentford. Spells with MK Dons, Leicester and Cheltenham followed before a return to Barnet in March 2011 for three games during which the Bees were unbeaten. After a spell with Notts County, Allen returned to Underhill for his third spell with the Bees and he guided them to safety on the final day of the 2011/12 season securing a 2-1 win over Burton Albion. He then led Gillingham to the 2012/13 League Two title but seemingly can’t resist the Hive.

Good afternoon. Today we welcome Martin Allen, his team, staff and fans to the Keepmoat Stadium. The Bees have experienced a mixed bag of results so far this season with two wins, five draws and two losses. But, in this league, a couple of wins would see them right back among it.

Rovers 0 Mansfield 1 REPORT
Rovers were extremely unfortunate to lose to a Mansfield team that had won five and drawn one of their games this season. The Rovers youth team, containing only three second year scholars, with two under 16 players dominated the game for long spells, showing composure, energy and some excellent spells of possession that caused frequent problems for the opposition.

“They certainly need to be more ruthless, but their ability to dominate a strong side for long spells was very promising. Developing consistency will now ensure they are developing in a way that will create opportunities further down the line.” The youth team are back in action when they host Notts County on Saturday (KO 11am), with spectators welcome to join us at Rovers’ Cantley Park training ground.

Kieran SCARFF As I have said we are extremely fortunate to have a club, a first team manager and a first team coaching staff who are extremely pro-active in the development of our Academy and Development Centre programmes.
•
•
•
First Team coaching staff working with youth team players on a daily basis. First Team Manager and staff watching coaching sessions for 9s-16s players. Academy and Development Centre coaches having an open invitation to observe first team and youth team sessions. This supports our view of a one club model and that we view all our coaching staff as part of one big coaching team.
Our coaches CPD programme being supported by the delivery and attendance of the first team manager and his staff.
•
Six youth team players being part of the first team match-day squad on occasions this season.
The environment we have in place for players and coaches has enormous potential. It provides enormous potential for players to develop and ultimately play in our first team. Quite simply that is the aim and purpose of any academy programme. The great thing about Doncaster Rovers is that the aims are very realistic and the purpose receives the full support of the whole club. All our staff are proud and excited to be a part of this and are all working together to maximise the opportunities for all the young players in our development and academy programmes. Good luck to the gaffer, staff and players this afternoon. Kieran

Examples of the pro-active nature are: • Meetings at board level to discuss what and how the development centre and academy programmes can be supported and developed. This is done to ensure the ethos of the whole club is aligned.

THE RECORD BREAKERS: DONCASTER ROVERS 70 YEARS AGO. Part 6 - By John Coyle
50 Box Office: 01302 762576
Saturday October 19 1946 offered a rare opportunity for Rovers fans to enjoy an away day. For the visit to meet York City, the railway company LNER put on a “Soccer Special” from Doncaster, with 1,000 places available at a cost of seven shillings and eight pence. The success of the Rovers meant this train service was heavily subscribed and Bootham Crescent was packed by a crowd of 15,504, a record for the ground. Rovers kept the same XI that had edged out Bradford City the week before: Archie Ferguson; Ernie Swallow, Jim Wooldridge; Cecil Stirland, Sid Bycroft, Bob McFarlane; Jackie Kirkaldie, Jackie Thompson, Clarrie Jordan, Paul Todd, Ralph Maddison.
Non-British players were unusual at this time and the fact that York included Eryk Kubicki, a Polish soldier, on the left wing, was a cause for some interest. Rovers were ahead after three minutes: Kirkaldie’s cross was cleared but only to McFarlane whose lobbed ball was headed in by Jordan. A mistake by the York centre-half, Park, who under-hit a back-pass, allowed Jordan to slam home his second after 16 minutes. Rovers held their 2-0 lead until the break, and increased it after 53 minutes. Kirkaldie’s centre from the right was helped home by Jordan, who thus completed his second hat-trick in successive weeks. York pulled one back on the hour when Allen was fouled in the area and Pinder beat Ferguson from the penalty spot. However, five minutes later Todd restored Rovers’ three-goal lead when he wriggled his way through the home defence and fired high into the net. That completed the scoring and travellers from Doncaster had certainly had their money’s worth. The win over York left Rovers two points clear of second placed Chester, with Rotherham, who had a game in hand, back in third place. Tranmere Rovers, struggling in the lower reaches of the
Division Three (North) table, were the visitors to Belle Vue on the final Saturday of October. Manager Jackie Bestall was able to name an unchanged side for the third game in a row. Despite the counter-attractions of a race meeting across the road on the Town Moor, a crowd of 14,008, the best of the season to date, turned up to watch the League leaders in action.
With both Chester and Rotherham gaining wins away from home, Rovers still led the division by a mere two points. Chester were in fact unbeaten since Rovers had won at Sealand Road

in the first week of the campaign. As well as Rovers being on top their leading scorer, Clarrie Jordan was on top of the Football League’s scoring charts. His 16 goals put him one ahead of Stoke City’s England international Freddie Steele. Jordan had also scored in six successive games, in which time he had amassed a total of 12 goals, including three hat-tricks. It was proving to be a very impressive season for both the club and its talismanic centre forward.
Box Office: 01302 762576
Those expecting either a goal-feast like the last home game against Bradford, or a comprehensive victory were to be disappointed. In a desultory first half, Rovers struggled to create many clear-cut chances. When they did they found the visiting goalkeeper, Lloyd, in fine form. After a goalless first period, Rovers finally got their noses in front after 57 minutes. Jordan’s pass found Thompson and his shot beat Lloyd and bounced over the line via the crossbar. There were still some nervous moments for Rovers until Jordan scored a second after 80 minutes to secure a 2-0 victory.

Rovers Family Doncaster Rovers Supporters Club A warm welcome to all the Barnet fans who have made the trip up the A1 for today’s game. It was great being second in the league, after the Newport victory, so we travelled to Kenilworth Road quite buoyant. For the first 20 mins we pummelled Luton but after Copps scored, and Scott Cuthbert received a nasty neck injury (glad that he is now ok), we just seemed to switch off and eventually got beat 3-1. We had another good following of 557 fans who were made very welcome at Luton, the police were also very helpful and friendly.

The match against Carlisle was an enjoyable 2-2 draw which saw us drop to third in the table.
