This "Cabinet of Curiosities" and contemplation space emerged from a linear process of form-making inspired by Eames' "Powers of Ten." Students zoomed-in past the economic, political, and racial complexities of Martin Luther King Blvd in Saint Louis to frame a myopic consideration of the site. I propose a space implied by a wooden fabric as broken, disjointed, and interwoven as the city of Saint Louis. On a street like MLK, transparency, light, and the security of leaning against a wall seem essential elements of a peaceful space.

observation space: two thirds of a prairie bio mass exists underground. while the upper layer offers a diverse array of opportunies for exploration and discovery, no doubt what lies beneath mus remain in mind. 60% of a prairie's biomass exists underground.k this semester explored mapping as a process to develop concepts. studies in phenonmenology helped us see closely our site and develop a strategy to approach our architecture.

premise: design an urban scene within architecutre using a modular system. how can one piece of structure perform a variety of tasks and come together in a cohesive place? site: Carondelet Park, an urban public park. concept: this project is about trees and light. the relief gives a formal language to the density at multiple scales of light falling through trees in the park. materials: precast concrete, steel columns, glass, soil, wood, water, cypress trees. process; site, map, relief, models and drawings, design the ground, design the roof.

we propose a study abroad in the city. delmar draws students, young and old, from all over the city. as one of america’s best streets, it has a life of its own. an art school on a busy street is a much different enterprise than an art school in the monestary of the university.

axe is terrible and i resented having to give them money. i thought i’d bring the company’s degrading advertising into the spotlightt with my concept: axe: keeping dirty boys clean since adam lost a rib. our process was one of drawing, analysis, and production. from the original soap botlle object, into a nurb surface, into a 3d model, back into real life through digital fabrication.

12 students expanded the 2011 Learning Landscape at the Patrick Henry Elementary school and rendered an asphault parking lot fit for people. Yurina Kodama, Parker Keyes, and I worked to add human scale and finer detail to the masterplan. We rescued wood logs from the chipper to build over 50 pieces of furniture at a total cost of $777.77
