JANUARY 10 - 12 | TRAIL CENTER, GUNFLINT TRAIL

The epic Norpine Fat Bike Classic returns for the 4th year in a row with a new course and a new racing host venue! Challenge both your endurance and the weather in either the long or short course that this racing event offers. The course will run on the Norpine cross country ski trails. Be a part of the bold few that can say they’ve experienced what this race has to offer. This event is in cooperation with and under a Special Use Permit from the U.S. Forest Service, and produced by Visit Cook County operating partner Superior Cycling Association

The Gunflint Mail Run Sled Dog Race is a continuous race consisting of two legs of equal distance, separated by a mandatory layover. There are two classes in the race: a 12-dog, 100-mile race and an 8-dog, 65-mile race. Races start and finish at Trail Center. To see the dogs on the trail, head for the north end of the trail to the Old Blankenberg Pit, where the 12-dog teams turn around. Viewing is also available at Big Bear Lodge and Rockwood Lodge.
