Park and Planting Design Modeling, Mixed Media Design
Individual Work
Description Enclosed on three sides by residential properties and on side commercial, our goal was to create a design and model that could accommodate all users within a 240’ by 240’ city block. We were also required to provide plan views of the Fall and Winter Seasons and to create a scaled model of the park with plants that have matured for 5 to 10 years.

Japanese Garden Design Modeling, and Design
Individual Work
Description The garden’s theme is based on a saying, it goes as follows, “It is in the void that things become understood.” Following a curved path, you walk through Tori gates, pass by the Japanese garden parables of the Bodhisattva stones, the dragon and the turtle and moss gardens. At the climax of your journey you arrive at the meditation house. Its roof allows in light and the raised floor also allow light to flow over black and white granite sands to finally reveal the form of the garden, the Double Helix also known as life..

Campus Courtyard Design Digital Modeling, Campus Design
Group Work
Description Building 17 is also known as the Media Arts building. It consists of 3 levels and has 2 of it’s levels below the main level of campus. Here we designed a playful UV led lit green wall crushed green glass gardens and water restored water uses through innovative water catchment and distribution. I was in charge of creating, animating and rendering the 3d model in Google Sketchup and Twilight Renderer. Our final design included Solar Tubes to distribute solar light below the concrete decking, LED cubic prism chandelier, Kinetic rain sculptures and rock sculptures from glass sheets all proposed to be designed by LCC Fine Arts students in a campus competition. I was solely in charge of the Sketchup Model creation and rendering, Some components of the model were produced by Jeffery Luers and Madeline Wayham. The overall design was a collaboration between us.

Sustainable Cities Initiative Planning, Mixed Use Design
Individual Work
Description We were asked to redesign the old Booth Kelly Mill site in Springfield, Oregon. Next to the current Mill Race restoration we had to design for alternative egress routes, a potential site for a high speed rail station, and keep existing uses; while allowing for additional Light Industrial, Residential, and Commercial Uses. My design sought to connect the site to 29th Street, and redesign the front along A Street for a formal plaza in front off the proposed rail station and allow Springfield Farmers Market to have more space. Ultimately there were remnants of old buildings and technology left throughout the site to remind Springfield and its residents of the sites history.

Description In late 2006, This 3.5 mile section of the original Coastal Drive section was shut down, due to geological failures. Our site varied in elevation by over 600 feet from high point to low point, from North to South and from East to West well over 1,000 feet. It was our duty to give the National Park Service, “Ideas they don’t normally receive, in house.” It was our duty to negotiate issues of: historic preservation, tribal relations, national and state park relationships and deal with natural systems. My plan for the park created, dedicated hiking trails, scenic and cultural outlooks, road bike and pedestrian paths, and protect tribal resources. My ultimate design solutions, restored natural hydrological flows, buffered and educated the users about sacred/ historic sites and resources and crated dynamic systems that allowed multiple trail loops and experiences.

Description It was our design challenge to take a state recreation Area and turn it into a state park. This entailed us creating a master plan, management zones, suggesting land acquisitions, trail design and orchestrating a design that could be utilized based on the Curry County Master Plan needs. We studied many parks in the area and came up with a cohesive park that would fit into the greater coastal park matrix. I was in charge of creating a trail system and doing a few photo renderings of what people could expect to see, feel and do in the park. The image above orchestrates how I laid out and studied each trail segment, created hiking loops and how the park would cater to a variety of users, both seasonal and year round.

Farmers Market Design Modeling, CAD Design, Construction Documents
Team Work
Description The Eugene Farmers market asked Ron Lovinger and Brad Stangeland for ideas for a new Plaza to be placed on half of the lot in downtown Eugene known as the “Butterfly Lot. Our charge was to take one of two designs and produce construction documents for those designs. Both Jeff Luers and I, decided to take elements out of the designs and create our own. We gave it a Pacific Northwest flair with basalt and native plants throughout. I made the model based on Ideas from Jeff and I and our final design can be seen above in the site plan. I created and drafted a stone layout amongst many other elements. One of my favorite elements to design was the lighting plan and photometrics layout that could not fit on this page.

Using GIS, We had to solve the following problem statement: “Locate potential residential development sites with minimal slopes, access to good solar aspects, in the urban growth boundary and on Vacant or Industrial land.” In the end it was found that based on the information that there were parcels in the Eugene Metro Area, that could house an adequate amount of parcels that could house residential densities needed to accommodate future growth.

3D CAD Designs 3d AutoCAD and Rendering
Individual Work
Description Designed entirely in AutoCAD, Our midterm project in AutoCAD III was to create a regulation pool table. We had the option to either draft a standard pool table or to create something new. I choose to create a pool table that had an element of sculpture. I received an ‘A’ on the project and still enjoy looking at this design.

3D CAD Designs 3d AutoCAD and Rendering
Individual Work
Description Designed entirely in AutoCAD, the final project was to design, create materials, add lights and render an entire chess set. This was a large task and took researching the different types of pieces and chess sets to arrive at the final outcome. This chess set was made entirely out of glass. The different colors of glass had different levels of translucency and was meant to sit on a lit based. I received and ‘A’ in the course and on this project.

Hand Drawing Charcoal and Graphite Media
Individual Work
Description These images represent a small selection of hand drawings in graphite and charcoal that I have done. These images are all less than 8.5” x 11” and most of them are drawn on a 6.5” x 5” sketch book usually in the field or waiting for the bus. I tend to like grayscale when sketching and appreciate graphite and charcoal for its layering qualities.
