Treehaus Housekeeping Team Guidebook Expectations and Duties Open and Honest Communication Our aim is to do our best to support you to make sure taking care of Treehaus is as simple and streamlined as possible for you! Honesty about any mistakes made is paramount (they happen all the time) but lets figure out together how best to solve it and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Likewise let me know if there is anything I can do to make your job easier, or you a happy person! Privacy and Discretion Please do not let anyone in that wants to take a look around, only Airbnb guests or visitors that have been previously approved are allowed into the property. Treehaus doubles as our family residence and we take our privacy and safety seriously. We also ask absolute discretion about our guests, our availablity, the house contents, procedures and key codes etc. Standards We have the highest of standards at Treehaus. Our guests are not paying for a cheap and cheerful experience, they expect the best and we aim to deliver. Which is to say a perfect clean and precision styling. Treehaus needs to be styled as per the photos and the clean needs to be spotless. Guests can be ruthless about cleaning in their reviews, cleanliness is the first thing that gets noticed and we aim to keep that beyond reproach. Dialogue between each stay As part of the management team it is important to communicate well. We tend to the maintainence ourselves, but please do not
hesitate to mention if something needs attention or has been overlooked. Its a full time job! From a broken hook in the bathroom to a wobbly handle or you notice mould growing in an abandoned corner. Likewise let us know if something looks amiss in the grounds. If there is any damage from guests - stains, breaks etc please take a photo and get in touch with me directly about it. If the place has been left in a particularly clean state (likewise messy) its great to give me a heads up to help me in writing the reviews. I love to mention our gratitude when we have great guests as we want those ones to come back!
Between each guest Our
turnovers need to be exceptionally clean. We have superhost status and all guests review cleanliness specifically so it must be sparkling clean every time. Upon Arrival A basket containing linens and things left for guests will be left for you as per previously co-ordinated instructions at the main house. Keycode is 1409 Please do a little walk through and take in the general state of things as to report back for reviewing. Photograph any damage and take note of anything out of the ordinary. First up check the dishwasher - often times this is loaded but hasn’t gone though. Put this through first so it has time to finish before the end of the clean. I find it most efficient to move completing one room at a time, startring with the bedroom and ending in a full house mop. In this way I usually manage to get the clean done in about an hour.
1. Bedroom • Wipe down all surfaces for dust - the side tables and bed head especially get dusty as does the dried leaf above the bed. Check if the fan needs dusting also. For this reason strip the bed after dusting, (as dust can fall on the sheets). Unfortunately living on a dirt road means this is our biggest battle. • Strip and Re-make the bed as per photo. • Spray/sanitise high touch areas such as light switches, door handles and air con remote. Wipe down any figerprints or grubby walls/corners that may show up. • Check wardrobe is clear and there are coat hangers on the rack. Check if robes have been worn - if so add to washing basket • Vacuum chair and refold blanket over the side. • Leave neatly folded (or rolled) 2 x towels, 1 hand towel and 2 x face cloths with a flower or a chocolate (or both) on top. 2 beach towels in Skygrazer bags can be left out also in summertime. • Vacuum the floor and rug, paying careful attention to build up of dust at the top of the bed and behind the bedside tables. Periodically • check windows for cleaning • fan for dusting • walls for dusting/wiping down • skirting boards for dusting • top of white blinds wipe down (about every one - two weeks this needs doing)
2. Bathroom • Start by rinsing down the bath with the shower head. Almost every guest takes a bath and uses a bath bomb so this needs to be rinsed out. • Then with a large rag dry off the bath and sides, before spraying with shower cleaner and once again wiping down both the tub and tiles. The sink hole needs careful attention, a scrub and careful removal of hair (sorry) to stay white. The plug gets left on top of the drain. • Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash get wiped down and lined up either on side or rear of bath. Spouts clean and pointing forward - we want it to look like this is the first time they are being used for the guests. Take note of levels. • Spray and wipe down the vanity, and sink, paying attention to under the plug. Clean then dry polish the brass tap. There is often water build up underneath the candles, so remove to wipe down and dry out. Take note of candle levels. • Marble hand gets wiped out, and either soap, bath bomb or flower put in. Hand soap gets the same treatment as the shampoo etc (wiped down fresh, clean nozzle). • Spray and clean the mirrors as required. • Shelf above toilet gets sprayed and wiped, new toilet rolls in basket. Toilet gets thoroughly cleaned and scrubed, this needs to be immaculate! Toilet paper folded into guest triangle. • Although we ask guests to take out the bins they often forget the bathroom bin, so you might need to do this one. This then gets sprayed/sanitised and just a paper towel placed at the bottom. • Lastly this needs a really thorough vacuum. Lots of ladies hair here, make sure our next guests don’t find a single strand!
3. Kitchen • We ask guests to take out their own trash, but please check as often this doesn’t happen. Bins are by the mailbox. Spray down the containers + lids and make sure the rubbish bag is replaced. Bags are in the topmost (hidden inside) drawer by fridge. • Spray and wipe down the bench tops, take off all chopping boards as little bugs get trapped around here. • Clean then dry polish the kitchen sink + gold tap. Bottles on left. • Coffee machine gets wiped down, disinfect the top button. Remove and clean out drip tray. Empties need to be put into an old plastic bag for me to recyle. Make sure there are enough capsules in the white cannister. • Gas stove top gets very greasy, so careful attention to make this spotless, inlcuding the knobs. The kettle on top gets wiped down and handle sanitised. Any burn marks come off with Jiff and the kettle looks brand new again. • All dishes to be washed and put away. Although it is rare that a guest will leave their dirty dishes. Please check the dishwasher. • Fridge/freezer gets wiped down, handles sanitised, the shelves spotless. Any perishibles left by guests can be taken home by you, left to us, or given to Nellie depending on the state of them. • Table wiped down. Candle parallel and centre. Welcome pages on top with 2 x Treehaus bikkies. • Clean the kitchen windows if needed - these can get full of bugs. • Check inside the draws to make sure no spilled food etc. Wipe down the front of kitchen drawers - they get lots of fingerprints, especially the pulls of the drawers.
4. Living Room • Water the plants - just a little. Wipe down the leaves of the larger ones if looking dusty. Add fresh water to anything in a vase. Replace any dead leaves or flowers with new ones. (I just go cut leaves and flowers from outside). • Spray and sanitise all door handles and light switches. • Remove all pillows from sofa and vacuum with brush attachment. Then follow up with lint roller (in kitchen draw). Its really important no hairs are left on the couch (common problem). Arrange pillows and throws as per pictures. Chop middle pillow. • Check the leaf on the side table and if looking sad, replace. Clean out insence tray and replace with a fresh stick. If guests are arriving same day, light another stick of incense in the potplant letting it burn as you go, the place will smell like a holiday for guests to enter into. • Magazines get stacked or slightly fanned in centre of table. Any dirty or old ones taken out. • Rug needs a thorough vacuum, both on top and underneath. • Take note of any candles that might need replacing. • Lastly the whole place gets a vacuum (if not already done) and a hot mop ( a trick is to wear old socks when mopping so there are no footprints!)
Outdoors • Bang out the cushions, brush off the chairs. • Wipe down the coffee table • Roll up the picnic mat it is has been used and leave on the coffee table • • Sweep off the deck, and clean off any bird poop. • Check BBQ for use and old grease, wipe down if not cleaned from prior guests (we do ask them to do this but it pays to check). There are disposable BBQ wipes beside the weber. • Check firepit, empty any water from rain overnight. Make sure there is a little stack of firewood under the stairs (firewood kept under deck - padlock 1409)

Occasionally the gas bottle will need replacing. If this happens when you are on duty there is a spanner (lefty loosey- righty tighty!) by the gas bottle itself and spare full bottles are kept in our car port. But we try to keep on top of this so its rare that this will need to be changed.
