What does attract you as an artist? It is a great question to answer. Due to big differences in taste, style and etc. of modern people, it may be obvious to mention, that different people assess items, places and other people, differently. In our essay, we will try to describe not only the place we found in our university, but also the reasons why it attracted us so much. The place we found may not attract other people as it did with us. However, we will try to share our emotions and gained experience as much as we can.
The first and the main reason – is atmosphere that devoured us from the moment we entered the -1 floor of building C, for the first time. The main building of our university is modern and equipped with Hi-Tech, so the first thing we noticed in the basement was the walls and the corridors being non-repaired, so it adds a drop of oldness in its aura. For instance, there are several old enough letterpress machines, which are still used by its purposes. Furthermore, strange shape of the ceiling, paint splats on the old wooden tables, and a bit of mess all around the corridor creates a nice cocktail of emotions that is served for you right in the basement.
Next point is works of students. The workshop room in building C is the place, where those works catch your eye with their atmospheric and abstract content. The type of making art works “alive” on letterpress machine in corridor, therefore, it excited us a lot. Almost all of the works are done with usage of “Relief Painting” technique. The only two colors that present in those artworks are black and white, that is why they look very breathtaking. In addition “Relief Painting” is one of the most eye-catching types of printed art, thus, it is worth to visit that place.
The contrast in atmosphere, created by difference in modernization between the buildings of PJATK, allows young generation of our academy to see the “Coin named: Art” from both sides- present and past. Unforgettable impression of artistic and a little bit messylooking atmosphere is reached by works of students and interesting looking appearance of corridor. As a result, there a lot of places to see, but sometimes three or four minutes spent in this basement, will be paid off by nice emotions and inspiration.
