resulting in a unique, Sativadominant hybrid producing vibrant, long-lasting highs with significant healing properties.

JAMIE KRAUS
The flavor profile for this top shelf breed is very indicative of a Sativa-dominant hybrid. The sweet and sour citrus taste blends well with its piney, minty aroma. Notes of lemon and anise come through on the exhale, and its fresh, earthy scent makes for an herbaceous exhale leaving a mild menthol aftertaste.
LOOKS This robust strain can be identified by its lime green coloration, tan to orange hairs, and broad constellations of frosty, crystal-capped trichomes. Crisp to the touch without being too brittle, it boasts dense, well-cured buds with just the right amount of firmness.

Created by pastry chef Michele Fishman of Love’s Oven, the Red Velvet cookie brings the aroma of cocoa, the sweet snap of chocolate and the buttery, luxurious texture of its namesake cake. White chocolate chips fleck the crimson-colored dough, a contrast that evokes the distinctive, classic red velvet layers. Since the cookie’s conception in November, each small batch of Red Velvets has been baked with an artisan’s care at Love’s Oven Bakery in Denver, Colorado. Since its founding in 2009, Love’s Oven has remained committed to sourcing local, organic and all-natural ingredients to craft its more than 20 varieties of scrumptious infused

trained pastry chefs who can infuse each creation with the utmost quality and care – and love, of course. The Red Velvets available at Denver’s L’Eagle are infused with their own organically grown L’Eagle Sativa blend, using the Love’s Oven proprietary chemical-free heat-extraction process. A package of 10 individually wrapped cookies, at 10 smooth milligrams of THC each, retails for about $20. Don’t follow your nose to the Love’s Oven door; this is a wholesale-only bakery. Look for Red Velvets in discerning dispensaries and shops across Colorado.

Coffee shops that sold cannabis and allowed consumption on their premises proliferated over the last several decades. If only for a short while, one could leave the horrible weight of prohibition behind for a special moment along the canal, smoking a spliff of blueberry haze or eating a space cake. Flash forward ten years since my first adventure in Amsterdam, and cannabis has come a long way! Hash oil, concentrates, BHO, dabs; these are the next generation of refined cannabis products. They can be used to infuse edibles, tinctures, salves, and other medicinal products, and they are also completely illegal under Dutch law, carrying penalties more akin to hard drugs. Upon heading back to Amsterdam for the first time since 2006, I had many heightened expectations.

After landing and meeting with friends and locals at a seed store, we excitedly pulled out our Motherships and torches! Dabs in the Dam! Promptly, I was educated by a local regarding the current reality of the Netherlands pot laws. Cannabis concentrates are equally illegal to using or processing heroin, or other hardcore drugs, as they do not fall under the cannabis laws and there is zero tolerance for hard drug use in the Netherlands. Apparently Girl Scout Cookie was a big success as well and was hailed by the host as “tasting like S’mores”. Yum…. Next up on this podcast was a discussion of the Denver hash scene where Matt and Diane explained what hash really is and how it’s being made, even pointing out how some cultivators are growing bud specifically to create hash products. The band can be heard “dabbing around” in the background in preparation for their appearance, adding to the preconcert, party vibe. After a healthy round of hash for all involved (I know, I know… this reporter’s job is full of sacrifices), Debauchary Tomorrow was introduced and proceeded to accentuate the already great vibe everyone had going. I found myself wondering if this might be what the 60’s were like, and I feel grateful in 2015 Ivita Wellness in Denver is facilitating the magical blend of music and cannabis for others to witness.

COMPLETELY L’EAGLE “We Are the Conversation”
“DO YOU WANT THE QUICK 5-MINUTE TOUR?” Thus begins an hour-plus adventure through the showroom and grow room of the illustrious L’Eagle, alongside energetic founder John Andrle. The list of “onlys” starts in the retail space, as one-byone, Andrle pops open labeled mason jars and shares the distinctive aroma of each strain. “We’re the only facility in the state that notes the harvest date on the jars,” he says - easy to track, because L’Eagle strains are all painstakingly cultivated and dried in-house. “The longer (it’s dried) the better – it makes for clean, smooth smoke.” All L’Eagle edibles, on bright display, are made with the company’s own marijuana. “That is the safest, most wonderful thing about us,” Andrle says. “All of our food is pesticide-free.” Even L’Eagle’s hash is extracted – safely and chemical-free – with ice water. The water evaporates, leaving behind the “best hash in the world,” according to Andrle and a number of critics. The store has never and will never
sell “that bunk bullshit trendy hash” made using propane, hexane or butane, packed with unsavory residual chemicals. Profiles of each strain hang on clipboards across a wall. “We’re the only facility in the state that has its own on-site testing lab,” he adds, and as we pass into the office he explains the thin-layer chromatography L’Eagle uses to heat its cannabis and test THC percentage. Behind the scenes, professional horticulturalists oversee a massive multi-room cultivation facility, monitoring the health of each and every plant from cutting through maturity, mixing the organic soil nutrients, and cloning, transplanting, pruning and harvesting by hand. “These are all scientists,” Andrle says. “They’re not pot growers, they’re not artists – they’re scientists.” Long banners still grace the walls; this once was an Olympic licensing facility, printing schwag and souvenirs until L’Eagle’s arrival in 2010. “Amazing Awaits,” the banners promise, à la Beijing 2008. L’Eagle does not disappoint.

On the topic of cannabis legalization: We never really thought about it because we never thought there was nothin’ wrong with it. It’s not bad. It helps people with all kinds of ailments and helps people find peace. What’s not to like about it? And why it’s such a crime has always seemed stupid to us. Their thoughts on cannabis consumption: We enjoy big fat cones and spliffs, but Miles likes the glass bong. Edibles can knock your dick in the dirt, so we prefer to smoke it--Cactus Cooler, Tokyo OG, Grape Ape and Wet Dream. But you really can’t go wrong with a weed crispy treat, reefer peanut butter cup, or some stoneos.
Which state has the best weed? “Everywhere has good strains. We’re from Cali though, so we’re spoiled and we know it.”
A few words on cannabis culture:
“We’ve seen a lot of stoners and appreciate them all; except that one guy.” If there’s one take-away from our sit down with Slightly Stoopid, it’s the concept of community that cannabis irrevocably brings to the world. Their embodiment of this culture of sharing and caring reserves their place as icons of the cannabis movement. And with these musicians both willing and able to keep spreading the good word, both our ears and our lungs will be thanking them for years to come.

DENVER CONSULTING GROUP Come Grow With Us

AS THE wave of legalization seems to spread across our great nation, the ‘green rush’, as it has been coined, is drawing lots of attention from entrepreneurs and investors. Due to marijuana’s national status as a Schedule I controlled substance, one would imagine that a large number of these people have not had extensive hands-on experience with the cannabis industry. That’s where Denver Consulting Group comes in. They offer anything and everything that a cannabusiness owner would need in order to operate according to the law and create a quality product. And not just in Colorado – they offer services in every state with legal or medical pot. A true one-stop shop for all your cannabis consulting needs. The six-person ownership group at Denver Consulting led by Greg Gamet and Justin Jones have all been heavily involved in the Colorado cannabis scene. They opened their first dispensary, DANK, a grassroots dispensary, in September of 2009, as well as being among the first groups to open a recreational shop on January 1st of last year. They have seen it all firsthand and will be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have about setting up marijuana business no matter what it is whether that be compliance with the constantly changing laws, how to track your inventory, implement new software, experts in MERTC and much more. “With the team of real industry experts we have assembled here at Denver Consulting Group we can help you get started and run your marijuana business no matter what facet of the industry you want to operate in.” states Greg Gamet co-founder of

THE first thing that stands out upon opening The Cooked Book are the striking

Each
piece seems to be leaping off the page; so frantic with action and prolific detail that there is a feeling that there is not enough canvas in the world for Trog and his neo-psychadelic posters. Many of the artworks in the book are posters for weed related events such as Seattle Hempfest, HempCon, and the Hash Bash, along with many others. Hailing from Australia, Trog does a lot of work for bands like The Offspring, Kottonmouth Kings, and Slightly Stoopid, grounding him strongly in the West Coast cannabis scene. The art has an anti-authoritarian, counter-culture bend to it, reminiscent of classic psychedelia of the 1960’s, with a modern twist. There is enough going on in every page that you can come back and look through it time and again, finding new pieces that you may not have appreciated fully the first time. There is very little text in this book, other than a tongue-in-cheek reminder on page 63 to load another bowl before you finish the rest of it. A great coffee-table book for anyone who wants to zone out, relax, and check out some groovy art, the mind of Trog abounds with creatures, characters, and many assorted substances (a perfect present for your friends who hate the man and drink a lot of 40’s).

EYCE MOLD What’s cooler than being cool? Eyce cold!
WRITER
R.Z. HUGHES

ALLIE BECKETT
THE Eyce bong is one of the most innovative pieces we have ever seen. It comes with a mold, mouthpiece, downstem, and attachment – none of which can be smoked out of right away. The Eyce bong is a process, a journey, an adventure, and one you’ll be happy to have taken when all is said and done. In order to make this work, you’ll need a large freezer, with at least a foot of free vertical space to stand up the mold, and some patience. The mouthpiece is placed at the bottom of the mold with the downstem in the middle, then fill the mold with water and place it in the freezer. Once it’s entirely frozen (this will take longer than you think) then it is time to take it out, rinse with warm water, and let it sit for twenty minutes. After this, you should be ready to unsheath your new creation, and if the job has been done right, enjoy your fancy looking bong that keeps the hits cool and refreshing. As your new pipe is literally made of ice, do not handle it more than necessary or keep in room temperature for very long. It holds its shape surprisingly well and if it doesn’t melt too much you can always throw it back in the freezer for later use. Best of all, there’s no cleaning involved. Once the fun is over or it gets a little dirty, just shatter it on the sidewalk and make a new one. To Purchase Visit www.eycemolds.com $89.99

Possible New Species in Australia
R.Z. HUGHES
AUSTRALIA CALIFORNIA LEBANON USA
An entirely new species of cannabis has been found deep in Australia’s In late December, California 3RD District Court ruled that concentrated forms of cannabis are indeed covered under the Compassionate Care Act as part of the plant. The case started when a twenty two year old with a medical recommendation, also on probation, was found in possession of .05 grams of hash oil. The judge found this in violation of his probation, even though the weed he had on him apparently wasn’t an issue. Upon appeal, however, the court decided that extracts are indeed covered under the law, so oil makers and consumers in California can rest knowing their part of the market is now protected.

Testing revealed that the plant was indeed cannabis, although it barely resembled it. The strain is resistant to freezing temperatures, which has pricked up the ears of breeders across the globe hoping to make outdoor growing possible

motivational enhancement therapy, or the MOMENT app, intervenes in real time when triggers to indulge in cannabis are experienced. The idea behind this is that young people respond strongly to stimuli, emotional states, and social contexts, and kids who use cannabis may be deterred with a simple text message of motivation. It seems laughable, but perhaps DARE school assemblies just aren’t as effective.
Cannabis farmers and hash producers in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley have recently taken up arms as a clash with ISIS seems imminent. While officially illegal and not common in Lebanon outside the valley, families have been producing hash in Bekaa for centuries, even using it as currency in the time of Ottoman rulers. As recently as 2012, however, they have had to deal with eradication efforts by the state which has caused many of the farmers to heavily arm themselves in order to protect their livelihood and culture. As ISIS wages war against villages just thirty minutes away in Syria, burning cannabis farms to the ground, the Lebanese farmers are ready for anything and have arsenals of RPGs, mortars, AK-47s, and even rocket launchers to help the fend off the extremist scourge.
her deluded, half-baked, incendiary viewpoints across the television sets of America. Grace recently debated cannabis legalization with hip hop artist 2 Chainz and was left looking out-oftouch and confused over simple facts of reality. Her sentences were fragmented, her accusations loud and silly, and she didn’t appear to understand her own points past the idea that ‘it’s bad for the kids’. After this 2 Chainz, always the gentleman, politely outlined how it is wasteful of taxpayer’s money to prosecute people for weed possession (to which she even agreed!). He then went on to point out how smart drug policy could help balance our national budget. Even the ostensibly pro-Nancy Grace crowd proceeded to call her out in her live Twitter feeds, with her hashtag #pot2blame definitely NOT trending.

INCREDIBLE EDIBLE MEDIBLES If I’m out of RSO and a tincture just isn’t enough, I’ll reach for a medible. Eating cannabis is a different kind of feeling – especially for depression. It’s also perfect for those needing extended relief with a slower release, and those who prefer to avoid smoking. Ingesting medibles can be tricky as the recipes and strengths can vary depending on the type of cannabis strains used. The rule of thumb is, eat a small amount initially, then wait an hour before eating more. As you continue to ingest your tolerance will build and the THC won’t affect you as strongly.
hUse this budder as you would butter in any cooking recipe, using the stepup dosing method of taking a small amount initially, waiting an hour, then dosing again. If you ingest too much lay down and take a nap. Sleeping is part of healing.
BUDDER • 1 pound of butter • 1 ounce of trim (leaf, stem, smalls or use whole bud for a stronger dose) • 1 quart water Simmer in a crock pot for four hours on low. I let the mixture sit overnight, and then turn it on again in the morning, checking strength. Put the entire mixture into the refrigerator. The plant material will separate from the budder in the water, with the budder forming a solid on top. The green of the plant, or the bitter taste, will be absorbed in the water and the budder will have a light green color.
CANCER DOSE… The treatment for putting cancer into remission is 60 grams of RSO in 90 days, with a step-up dosing regimen allowing the patient to get used to the concentrate slowly, as it is extremely strong. Patients who take too much can end up in the emergency room and are often treated with a Valium induced sleep. Unlike opiates and other prescription meds, cannabis will not stop your heart and only affects the central nervous system causing paranoia and shakes when taken in excess. Patients discover (as I did) that while doing the treatment symptoms from other ailments fell away. The oil is said to help

The combined healing properties of Empower™ are amazing, as all of the ingredients have medicinal properties, not only the cannabis. It’s these multiple ingredients working in tandem that provide significant relief from pain, inflammation and skin traumas. There is no psychoactive effect from any products in the Empower™ Bodycare line, even though there are cannabinoids in the oil. For more information, I would encourage you to scour the well-built and educational Empower™ website. Empower™ Therapeutic Soaking Salts left me feeling refreshed, pain free, relaxed, and I dare say, empowered, and in a significantly improved mood.
Empower™ Oil is a synergistic blend of therapeutic essential oils, the highest quality carrier oils, and a proprietary combination of cannabis strains to provide relief on many levels at one time. Empower™ uses only the best ingredients, chosen for their similarities to skin’s natural oils to create an excellent blend that is non-toxic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic, and nourishes your skin!*
