The Dordt Difference Dordt College is one of only a handful of Christian colleges in North America to offer an accredited four-year agriculture program. The diversity of agricultural opportunities near campus makes Dordt an ideal setting for both on-campus and off-campus study in agriculture. Our view of agriculture rests firmly on our understanding that “the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). We’ll challenge you to think about issues such as stewardship, agricultural policy, environmental health, rural community vitality, and animal welfare from a Christian point of view. Because we believe that God calls us to care for his creation wisely, you’ll learn about the connectedness of plants, animals, business, economic infrastructure, and the natural environment. You’ll learn to evaluate choices about food and fiber production, processing, distribution, marketing, and disposal from a God-centered point of view. You’ll explore how production and marketing decisions in one part of the world affect the health of global and local environments and economies. Our agriculture students come from every region of the United States and from many Canadian provinces. This diversity helps faculty members maintain a working understanding of agricultural systems throughout North America.
