What is the Aspire Program? The Aspire Program is for motivated students who do not meet Dordt’s regular admission standards but show potential to be successful at Dordt College. The program helps students develop new strategies and skills for learning. Acceptance into the Aspire Program is determined by Dordt’s vice president for enrollment in consultation with the director of the ASK Center (Academic Skills Center) and is based on high school grades, courses, and ACT/SAT score. Applicants who did not meet one of the following general admission entrance requirements may be granted admission with special provisions into the Aspire Program: • A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.25 • A minimum ACT composite score of 19, or a minimum SAT composite score of 1330 on the three-part test

A one-time fee of $50 will be charged to cover the costs of the reading assessment, Campus Toolkit, and meals during the one-day orientation.

ASPIRE BENEFITS AND SUPPORT Assessment of reading and learning skills A mandatory one-day Aspire Program Orientation preceding the Week of Welcome for incoming first-year students A reduced course load in the first semester of enrollment with a maximum of 12 to 15 credits (including credits for athletics, music ensembles and lessons, or involvement in theatre arts) Enrollment in an academic success seminar Placement in one or more college competency courses for students whose ACT/SAT scores in English/ writing and/or mathematics are below general admission requirements Campus Toolkit, an interactive, web-based resource that addresses many issues common to college students A personalized learning agreement outlining strategies to assist students toward academic success Tutorial assistance in most courses Weekly conferences with an academic coach August 2015
