The Dordt Difference You’ve changed since you walked across the stage at high school graduation. If the course you plotted then doesn’t seem to be taking you where you want to go, we invite you to visit with a Dordt College admissions counselor and make the change you need to reach your goals and aspirations.

Each year Dordt College helps students move from other institutions into one of our fully accredited programs. Dordt College ranks highly among Midwest Regional Colleges by U.S. News & World Report, and the Princeton Review places Dordt on its “Best in the Midwest” list. We offer a distinctive Christian educational experience to approximately 1,400 students from 35 states, eight Canadian provinces, and 20 foreign countries.

We’ll work with you to transfer credits you’ve earned so that you can qualify as a student with advanced standing. We’ll also show you how to apply for financial aid and scholarships and help you through the admissions process in a timely and professional manner.

THINGS TO DO AND KNOW APPLYING Complete the application for admission.

Ask your high school to send an official high school transcript to Dordt (see www.dordt.edu/admissions/apply/us_canada/transfers.shtml for a request form).

Ask your current and any previous colleges to send official academic transcripts to Dordt.

Send your ACT or SAT score report to Dordt.

TRANSFERRING CREDITS College credits presented by transfer students are evaluated for the quality of the student’s work and the relationship of the subject matter to Dordt’s curriculum. A minimum grade of a C is required in each course to receive credit. A maximum of 61 semester hours of academic credit is granted to graduates of community colleges. After the application materials have been evaluated, you will receive notification of accepted credits, student classification, and academic status.

GETTING FINANCIAL AID U.S. students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before April 1. Dordt College’s Title IV Code # is 001859. If you have already completed the FAFSA, add the Title IV Code # to your list of colleges so that we recieve your information electroncially. Dordt College also uses a Supplemental Data Form (SDF), which gives us a clearer picture of your financial information. This form may be completed online at www.dordt.edu/cgi-bin/admissions/financial_aid/sdf/index.pl.

Canadian students should file a Canadian Financial Aid Form (CFAF). This form is found online at www/dordt.edu/admissions/financial_aid/. Be sure to complete the form that applies for the year you are planning to transfer to Dordt College.

How do I know Dordt College is right for me?

Plan a visit so that you can meet faculty, take a tour of campus, mix with students, and get a feel for the college. If you can’t come to campus, visit www. dordt.edu or www.youtube.com/dordtcollege.

Where do I start?

Contact the Admissions Office to talk with an admissions counselor who can assist with questions you may have as you begin filling out the application form, obtaining transcripts, meeting deadlines, and getting financial aid.

Do my credits transfer?

Our staff will evaluate your transcripts. Specific questions regarding transfer credit can be directed to the Registrar’s Office at (712) 722-6030. In many cases your previous work will transfer for full credit. You’ll be informed which classes you’ll need to take to meet our requirements for graduation.

What kind of college is Dordt?

We offer a place to grow spiritually, academically, and socially. In addition to excellent academic programs, we offer retreats, chapels, praise and worship services, outreach programs, and other opportunities for spiritual growth. Participating in clubs, intramural activities, and social activities are other ways to grow and find new friends. Here, you will be a part of an enthusiastic community of believers.

How about financial aid?

Getting an education at Dordt College is probably more affordable than you realize. We will make sure that you have access to the financial aid resources you need to attend Dordt College. As a transfer student, you may be eligible for Dordt College Academic Scholarships as well as grants and loans. Whatever your situation, we’ll do all we can to put together a financial aid package that makes Dordt affordable for you.
