You see a hat is just an accessory, but our millinery community is fostered by the artisans that hand make our hats, local shops that display our creations, and our customers’ stories who wear them with distinction. This is coupled with our relentless commitment to service”stilled by our founder, Jack Dorfman. MEET THE DESIGNER
I graduated from NYC’s FIT-Fashion Institute of Technology’s Millinery department in 1984, and I have never tired of introducing American ladies to the fun and mystique of wearing romantic hats. Be it at the beach, a special occasion, or as a protection against the elements, a SCALA hat adds a sense of style and mystery.
After graduating, I initially set up my workshop in NYC, where I have made hats for NYC Opera’s repertoire like Rigoletto (1988), various Broadway shows, and movies such as Working Girl (1988) with Melanie Griffith, Eight Men Out (1988) and it’s stellar ensemble cast, Sommersby (1993) with Richard Gere and Jodi Foster, and The Birdcage (1996) with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane – to name a few!
In 1995, I joined Dorfman Pacific Hat Company (now Dorfman Milano) as their first in-house designer. I have endeavored to use my design experience to design on trend, wearable, and sellable hats.
At SCALA Hats, we know our customer and we design with her in mind. She is understated and chic. I like to design hats that are elegant and timeless, not overly cluttered with excessive trims and ornamentation. I strive for clean silhouettes that enhance the wearer’s confidence and style. A SCALA hat should enhance, not distract, from the wearer’s beauty.
A hat is a very special accessory. It delivers instant glamour. I love that hats can say many things about the wearer from “look at me” to “leave me alone”. What will you say?

These sweatbands are made of a DuPont® fabric with the capability of moving moisture away from the skin, keeping your forehead dry.

RECYCLED
Recycled PET materials use less energy than creating virgin polyester yarns, create 75% less CO2 emissions,and help lower our overall carbon footprint.

These hats will keep their shape when rolled for packing and traveling. Many”clude an elasticized loop that helps keep your rolled hat secured.

TERMS: F.O.B. Stockton warehouse. Approved credit application required for all Net 30 and C.O.D. company check orders. All other orders shipped prepaid credit card. American Express, Discover, Master Card and VISA accepted. All orders are subject to shipping and handling charges. Past due accounts are charged a monthly 1 1/2% service charge.
MINIMUM ORDER (New Customer): $450 - may have split delivery dates but must be booked at one time.

DAMAGES AND RETURNS: All claims for damaged cartons and carton shortages must be filed with carrier within 10 days after receipt of merchandise. All Inner box shortages must be reported to Dorfman Milano within 10 days. All returns must be prepaid and authorized by the home office. Call 800-367-3626 for authorization. Our RA# is required on all cartons shipped back for credit. Returns may be subject to a 10% restocking charge, $25 minimum charge. Credit will be issued upon receipt and”spection of merchandise only.
