personal social relational
I have good socialization skills, both at the professional and recreational level, with people of different ages and cultures. Strong inclination to build co-operative relationships and to maintain an active multi-channel communication. I am quite willing to take leadership roles within the working team, skill acquired throughout the years social in social circles. I show good autonomy traits in managing my work duties and responsibilities with a strong orientation to achieve the best result. I took part for seven years to a theater course at the Teatro Sociale of Como, which helped me establishing a high level of self-confidence and a natural propensity to socialize and communicate with other people. My personal interests range from music to cinema, from the theater to literature, from swimming to cycling. My favorite books are the classics (in particular French and English literature), and modern and contemporary poetry.

May in Milan has always been a special month because it hosts Design Week! The city fills up with creative hipsters, tourists and designers, all curious to discover the novelties of the industry. It’s one party after another TEXT: Dorin ROSSI, PHOTO: courtesy of press offices

here is only one moment a year when Milan becomes particularly special. The industrious city of the north transforms itself into an animated and vivid place, where roads teem with people and stores change their look completely. This is the moment in which the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone arrive. The theme chosen this year was, due to the arrival of the huge event of the EXPO 2015, “Feeding: nurture new ideas in the industry of furniture; a new conception of living”. During the Press Conference of Internals, the Design Week organizer, the theme was well expressed even by the art critic Philippe D’averio, who said that “design is a link between utopia and reality”, alluding with that to the extraordinary capacity that design has to finish and make possible conceptions of living that a few years back were only possible in the imagination of the artists’ minds. First of all the Fuorisalone. The pulsing heart and location of where these ideas and visions were synthesized is the Public University of Milan. Here small pavilions and installations have filled the university’s beautiful fourteenth century courtyards and have seen
busy architects and artists trying to make all this a reality; from the Escher stairs up to the mirrored paths of a futuristic world where the historical city breaks through and reflects through light telescopes. Then there are the institutional sites. The Brera Design District, where Fashion & Beauty attended by the Eponimo stand, which is a very interesting Italian brand. There were many noteworthy installations, such as the one by Lombardi Real Estate, in Corso Garibaldi, in the centre of the Milanese nightlife. It’s an incredible space full of flying fish and signed by the artist Annapaola Cibin. Then the Tortona district, near the subway station of Porta Genova, which also began to rediscover lost or forgotten places such as the botanical garden. In this angle of the rare beauty of the city, installations from the architect Piero Lissoni, that with his poetic gesture has not only made, once again, this beautiful city area accessible but has also allowed the quality to be appreciated. There was a small wooden pavilion created for only one concept: observation. The interior decoration was edited by Living and the prestigious pavements by Laminam have

completed and accompanied this light structure and gave it absolute elegance. A space that was equally important of the Fuorisalone is the Triennale. Here the reissue of the Design Museum allows admiring the biggest art pieces in design history, which are also flanked by recent creations. In this location was the space from the famous timepiece brand Citizen, that surprisingly invited one to follow through a labyrinth made of thousands of wrist watch boxes suspended in the air, and a video showing the history of the brand. In the Tortona district, the lowest common denominator has been the magical union between engineering and fantasy. For example? 3D printers that make vases and tools live, making possible forms that would be otherwise difficult to accomplish. Another significant space was the Peugeot showroom that offered a piano concert in an enormous space of multicolored lattice wires. For the more reflective, there is the installation by Michelangelo Pistoletto which is situated on the Superstudio Piu’s ceiling. The Rossana Orlandi space was a location of

quality craft and of “one-piece” design. Quite interesting was the presentation of machinery created especially by the artist to allow the shaping and creation of vases that are, in fact, unique. Finally one should consider the Lambrate area where we find exhibited an excellent selection of prestigious and original works of northern design. Apart from the Fuorisalone, an official exposition was held in the exhibition halls of the Rho fair. Of particular interest was the pavilion number 7 where the best of Italian design was exhibited, a stand of rare beauty. Other engaging areas were the Lema space, the furniture company was founded in 1977 by the Meroni family; the Porro stand, where beside all their products you could see perfect traditional novelties; and the Calligaris stand, which this year presented a collection completely made by young designers. Surely this was a successful and high quality event. An excellent way to fight back the crisis and to “nurture” the spirit and soul with new visions and a new way of living. fashionandbeauty . it

Renowned architect Piero Lissoni shares with us about his thoughts on Milan as the world capital of design

P
iero Lissoni has a versatile talent. At home and abroad he is known as a furniture and interior designer and architect. He is also the art director of several large Italian companies. One of his latest works is an installation in the Brera Botanical Garden, which he calls the “Geometric Park.” Clearly defined

shapes added a touch of elegance to the space and created the illusion of a labyrinth. This project was presented during the Design Week. We met Signor Lissoni to talk about his work, present day Milan and the evolution of architecture. Your park has made a great impression on visitors. What inspired you to create it?
Botanical gardens are a creative playground. There are no limits here, as rain and wind get into the pavilion. It was an absolutely open space. The geometric shapes perfectly fused with the plants.
Do you think that forgotten and abandoned places in Milan should get a second life, or would designers be better to focus on something else?
PIERO LISSONI
Milan?
First of all, I would mention the must-not-see places. If you want to plunge into the real haute couture world I would not recommend going to the

famous Quadrilatero della Moda (Fashion District). Or at least check it out late at night when the flocking tourists will not distract you!

I guess they should drift together again. I never liked the idea of a clear separation. I believe in blending and intersection of these worlds. To this extent, I support romantic ideas of the Milanese school.
Are you talking about the years of your studies?
Our faculty has always prepared excellent professionals who can go far in any field of architecture and design. I think we need to go back to this good tradition.
It’s so simple. Milan is a kind of fore-side. It reflects all that happens in the design industry. Milan is a platform where the whole country can show its achievements and successes. Everything flies around this city. For example, there would be no furniture exhibition without Milan, its industry, production and artisans.

Everybody is looking forward to the World Expo 2015. Do you think this event can spice up the polemics about the future of Italian architecture?
This is a temporary exhibition. Millions of visitors from all around the world head to Milan. I hope that they will come not only for the Expo, but to see the city as well. And not only the city but also the whole of Italy. As for the debates, I would leave this topic until the show starts.

Famous critic Philippe Daverio once said that design is halfway between reality and utopia. Do you agree with that?
TIPS FROM PIERO LISSONI to see in
In your opinion, does architecture and design have a lot in common or are these two concepts that need to be clearly distinguished?
I am sure that such corners should definitely get a second chance, not only in Milan but in other cities as well. We need to stop our constant search of new places and finally start to use existing ones. Why don’t we turn abandoned land into architectural sites?
Founded his own office in 1986 and worked with companies like Alessi, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Flos / Antares, Kartell, Frau, Porro, Riva 1920. Lissoni is also engaged in villas, museums and boutique designs.

Absolutely! Philippe Daverio seized the point. Very often design tries to be something really important in human life and change our views and nature in some way. As for me, I’ve always believed that our purpose is different. Every item that I create has to perform its function well, be practical and comfortable, but it shouldn’t effect its owner’s mind.

Creators of this installation hint at the fact that lately we’ve been missing something really important. Film frames flash before
the visitors’ eyes reminding them of ancient Roman suburbs and Italian villages. Now let’s move to the other countries’ pavilions and start with the Celestial Empire. Here one can sip a cup of traditional Chinese tea f lipping through the books about major stages in the architectural development of this country. The hall decoration combines typical Asian style and hi-tech elements. Part of the exhibition is devoted to Beijing. Visitors can see the 3D models of the capital’s seven districts, and the way they’ve been changing over time. >

The exhibition offers to trace the way architecture has changed over the last 100 years. According to the promoters, a meaningful f lashback will help to envisage the future of art. It’s the f irst display devoted to architecture, not to certain architects’ creativity. Despite the fact that the Venice Biennale
