Sizzling Summertime Hazardous To Your Pet?

This is the time of year to get outside and go adventuring with your fuzzalicious fur-kids. However, with the soaring Mercury some outdoor activities can present hazards for your pets. To ensure a pawsitively purr-fect vacation for you and your pets this Summer we suggest the following: •SHADE: Keep your pets in the shade and OUT of cars. •Say "NO" to certain “people-foods” and beverages”: Barbecue scraps, chocolate, grapes, caffeine, onions, garlic and alcoholic beverages can cause serious digestive distress, coma or death for pets. Cooked eggs, fruit, cottage cheese and veggies are acceptable to sneak under the table, but keep table scraps to less than 10% of your pet’s daily caloric allowance. •GO GREEN With Pesticides: Commonly-used flea and tick products, mouse/rat baits and lawn/garden insecticides can be harmful to pets if ingested. Keep those products out of reach and when possible please only use organic. Here are a few brands to look for: EcoSmart available at Home Depot, Dr. Earth by VITACOST (www.vitacost.com) and here is a link for 10 HOMEMADE ORGANIC PESTICIDES that work www.Globalhealingcenter.com

• H20 WATCH!

Do not leave pets unsupervised around a pool or in the ocean. Not all dogs are good swimmers and rip tides can be strong. 

FIREWORK FESTIVITIES:

Never use fireworks around pets. Exposure to fireworks can potentially result in severe burns or trauma to curious pets. Even unused fireworks are hazardous. Most fireworks contain toxic substances such as Potassium Nitrate, Copper, Chlorates and Arsenic.
