This exhibition is the story of an intrepid Dorset woman, Mabel Annie St Clair Stobart, who led a women-only medical team to Serbia between April and December 1915. She became caught up in the tragic Serbian retreat from German, Austrian and Bulgarian enemy forces during the First World War. Hers was a feat of incredible endurance. Stobart’s dramatic time in Serbia was recorded in a series of eloquent andpowerful photographs, taken by Stobart herself and by others attached to her unit.
