#032 August 2018 Dorset County Museum Volunteer Newsletter Welcome to Issue No.32 of DCMVOX…
Tomorrow’s Museum for Dorset—Update Following on from the announcement last month that the museum building will close on 1st October, thank you to you all for your support over the last few weeks. There’s a lot of work to do, but we will get there!
Tea Room Exhibition Photographs by Louise Fuller Louise is a photographer with a keen interest in geology and fossils. She began as a fossil hunter at the age of five.
A move to the beautiful (but almost entirely fossil-free) Isle of Mull on the West coast of Scotland triggered Louise’s interest in photography. Louise quickly discovered that even a tiny part of an image has the potential to be very beautiful. So started Louise’s interest in abstract, close-up and macrophotography. In 2015 she moved to Charmouth and fell in love with the Jurassic Coast and its fabulous fossil beaches and beautiful scenery. You can contact Louise on: Louisefullerphotography@gmail.com and see more of her work on Facebook: @louisefullerphotography, Instagram: @ammonitelou and www.etsy.com/shop/ imagesbylouise
We have acquired a second unit on the Marabout Industrial estate as well as two locations in Dorchester for offices. Full details will be given out once confirmed. You will know that the archaeology dig within the museum’s ancient grounds is now open to the public and is being well visited. Thank you to the volunteers who are helping to inform our visitors. If you haven’t already done so, do go and see the Roman road which has been uncovered!

Museum on the Road Once the museum building is closed, the Museum will be going on the road. Our first Pop-Up Museum will be located in Brewery Square until after the February half term. The Education team will shortly announce the plans for school engagement which will continue throughout the building closure with a new outreach programme. If you are able to offer to join the Education team, or indeed help out with the dig, please do let Jill Minchin know [volunteering @dorsetcountymuseum.org]
