E11. Glas-Haus
11. Glas-Haus focuses on the creation of a relaxing work space and guest home. The terrace stretches across the hillside, and features a pond framed by an enclosed rectilinear gallery space. The interior space has a large elongated working desk area with built in bookcases allowing for a large working area. The reflection of the water in the rectangular volume creates a sense of dematerialization and floating. A sense of peace comes over the resident. The structure incorporates the use of light through funneling and reflecting off water and an intimate rock garden. Which furthers the experience of absolute focus and tranquility.

I N S P I R AT I O N P H O T O S The goal of design is often to create something new and impactful. Exploring the limitations of what any certain object can become. Trying not to overwhelm but insinuate and draw the viewer out visually. This is best seen in the Guggenheim museum created by Frank Lyod Wright. The chair design creates a dynamism that opposes the common rectilinear frame seen within most seating. The design addresses the use of shape while also experimenting with a form in a minimalistic way that intertwines with the rigid steel frame. With the creation of tension between two dimensional and three dimensional shape the chair allows for a visually pleasing and comfortable experience.

Through the elongation and enclosure of the chair arms the user is hugged without being restricted. The arms of the chair emulate the circular volumes of the museum further showing the inspiration behind the shape
Asymmetrical Intersection
The structure of the chair follows a square grid allowing for fluidity within the curvature and breaking up rigidity. the chair is covered in a tweed material allowing for comfort and flexibility in decorating within spaces. Through the incorporation of the distinct curvature and metal framing. G.1070 is a diverse and functional chair that encompasses shape and form in addition to functionality.
