FAU SoA Project of the Year Located at the intersection of Sistrunk Boulevard and Third Avenue, the epicenter of the Flagler Village Neighborhood, Modulus merges urban and suburban lifestyles while contributing to the current momentum of redevelopment in the neighborhood. The terraced housing typology at the upper level creates “urban yards that bring the qualities of outdoor living in a subtropical climate by extending modest interior square-footage. These terraced units also create spectacular views of the downtown Fort Lauderdale skyline. Units below the terraced types include studio and one-bedroom along a single-loaded breezeway providing a range of unit types for different age and income levels. At the ground level, Modulus provides retail and shared amenities while creating connections to the community garden and Peter Feldman Park across the street. Modulus was chosen by the faculty for its exemplar depth of looking at multiple scales, easy to understand graphics and comprehensive approach.

THE BIKE STOP ////////

SITE PLAN - Proposed Bike Stops

Fluorescent Light Bulbs create a “Stage Effect” exposing the Bike Parking Area & increasing street security at night.

Side View - Self-Service Repair Station

LED Lighting for Artistic & Commercial advertising + Augments Visual Exposition against bike theft Direct visual contact between the people sitting on the bench & the parked bikes discourages bike thefts

Rear View - Bike Rack

Side View - Bus Seating - Bike Rack

///////////////////////

Existing Local Bus Stop

A Self-Repair Bike Station can be found on the structural core. With space to hang your bike to the against the at wall & permanent equipment to innate bike tires.

THE BIKE STOP is an innovative BikeRack concept that multifunctions as a Bus Stop, an Informational Hub for turistic and cultural purposes, and a waiting stop for commuters that need to get picked up. The core concept is to make the

“bike parking hub” visually exposed to

different layers of indirect security, whether it is from pedestrians passing by and looking at the LED advertising, the people sitting waiting for the bus and to be picked up, or the drivers waiting on the stop signs and lights, all in order to discourage bike theft.
