We’re activating 6 million young people (and counting!) to do good in every US area code and in 131 countries. Using our digital platform, members join DoSomething’s volunteer and civic action campaigns to make offline impact at scale. Our members have clothed half of America’s homeless youth. They’ve cleaned up 3.7 million cigarette butts. They’ve run the world’s largest youth-led sports equipment drive. And more! Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re Changing The World One Campaign At a Time
A campaign is a movement that young people join to make a positive impact in a specific cause space. Each campaign includes a problem, solution, and a call to action - this can be anything from sharing a tip about anti-bullying to running a voter registration drive. Campaigns give our members the tools, resources, and guidance they need to be agents of change in their own communities. Here are some of our favorites!
Some Recent Campaigns That Crushed It Brake It Down In 2016, 2,820 teens died in motor vehicle crashes. By increasing road safety and reducing speeding, we could save up to 400,000 lives per year.That’s why we partnered with Chevrolet to create a road safety guide, which has been shared by 1,291 DoSomething members less than a month after the campaign launched.
Grab the Mic Civic engagement is important to us and our members, so we created DoSomething’s first ever year-long campaign to ensure that young people’s voices are heard at all levels of government. Each month, 200,937 members receive calls to action on a specific issue, ranging from making Ramadan cards to supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
You’ve Got the Power Bullying affects 1 in 5 students in the U.S. and stops within 10 seconds of someone intervening, but 85% of the time no one intervenes. We teamed up with Saban’s Power Rangers to create an anti-bullying campaign, and 38,427 members have stepped up to share their tactics for overcoming bullying!
Do Something About Gun Violence There are an average of 13,000 gun homicides in the U.S. every year and over 1,500 mass shootings have taken place since the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. 193,242 members signed up to take action against gun violence by calling their representatives, registering to vote, and helping their friends learn more about gun laws.
Defend Dreamers Immigration has been a pressing issue lately and is one that we take seriously! Over 800,000 young undocumented immigrants (aka Dreamers) could be deported pending court decisions and legislation, and over 2,000 immigrant children have been separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. 92,136 young people have stepped up to our call to action by contacting their representatives, registering to vote, and attending protests in support of immigrant family reunification.
Lose Your V-Card One of DoSomethingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s biggest initiatives this past year has been voter registration because we believe in the power of young people to make a difference in local, state, and federal elections. Over 69 million young people are eligible to vote in 2018 and registering to vote only takes 2 minutes! Since we first launched this campaign in September 2017, 62,578 members have signed up to run an online voter registration drive.
Sincerely, Us Hate crimes against Muslim-Americans have reached alarming levels, and we at DoSomething firmly believe that Muslim-Americans deserve the same respect as any other American. In 2017, we asked our members to make Happy Ramadan cards to send to every mosque in the country, and they certainly stepped up to the plate, making a total of 41,287 cards.
A Few of Our Greatest Hits Teens for Jeans Over a million young people experience homelessness in the US every year. One item they often request? A pair of jeans. DoSomething members collected over 1 million pairs of jeans, enough to clothe half of all homeless youth in the U.S.
Power to the Period Many of the over 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have extremely limited access to period products (pads, tampons, etc.). In fact, period products are some of the most needed items in homeless shelters across the country. In the firstever national period product drive, members donated 592,005 period products.
Thumb Wars We know texting and driving is dangerous and dumb. Yet, everyone has a friend of family member who does it anyway. In fact, 2 in 5 high school students text behind the wheel. Since 2010, over 1 million members have signed up to remind their friends not to text and drive.
Love Letters Over 15.5 million seniors live alone and face isolation due to location, disability, or language barriers, which can lower self-esteem and increase chances of depression, anxiety, and alcohol/drug use. DoSomething members have sent 940,041 Valentineâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Day cards for seniors living in isolation to help them feel connected and loved.
Grandparents Gone Wired Loneliness can increase stress levels and, therefore, chances of disease in older adults. But smartphones can help! They can improve the health of older adults but 77% of seniors need help getting started! Members helped 11,753 older adults learn to text, email, video chat, and use social media!
Feeding Better Futures Today, 1 in 8 people on earth struggles with hunger, including 13 million kids and teenagers in America and 2.5 million Canadians who live without access to secure food. So, thousands of young people came up with over a million solutions for our food system addressing issues like food waste, hunger relief, access to healthy food (food deserts), and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, one of DoSomething’s members actually won a $50,000 scholarship from General Motors, the sponsor of the Feeding Better Futures campaign!
Rinse, Recycle, Repeat Nearly half of Americans don’t recycle their beauty and personal care products. That’s a major reason these bathroom empties take up so much space in our landfills. DoSomething members made a huge impact by creating 3,090 eye-catching bins to encourage friends and family to recycle their empties! Tons of members went above and beyond by collecting 10+ pounds of empties that can’t be recycled curbside! They mailed these beauty and personal care products to TerraCycle, which turns plastics into things like picnic tables, benches, and garden beds!

The Hacienda
Want to write out a brainstorm on an idea wall? Looking for a soft place to sit and do your work? Need a big hug from a giant bear? Look no further! The Hacienda is our multi-functional corner space best used for a brain break in the form of games, scooters, and a big chill.
The Pit
Equipped with big blue couches and all our best ideas, the pit is where we gather to socialize, have staff meetings, and watch blooper videos from when Aubrey Graham (known to some as Drake) was featured in our PSAs.
Our Superhero Headquarters
We already know that we are super, and we want our spaces to match! Each of our conference rooms and tools are named after different superheroes or superhero related things. Our most recent room is Wakanda, after the country from â&#x20AC;&#x153;Black Panther!â&#x20AC;?

We Live Our Mission After working at DoSomething for two years, our staff earns the incredible (and paid!) opportunity to spend one month volunteering anywhere in the world. As much as we love our NYC office (and trust us, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s awesome), here at DoSomething we know how important it is to spread those activist wings, help communities in need, and expand our knowledge of social impact by working with local not-for-profits. Our staff return to DoSomething re-energized, equipped with new ideas, and ready to take the org to the next level.

BEN KASSOY AFRICAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA For my second sabbatical, I worked at the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in Johannesburg, South Africa. ALA is a two-year boarding school for teenagers representing 40 different African countries, and I helped them create a web publication highlighting the writing, photography, and artwork of students, faculty, and alumni.â&#x20AC;?
KARY PEREZ AGRUPACIร N XANGO, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA I spent a month in Buenos Aires, Argentina volunteering with a racial justice organization named Agrupaciรณn Xango. Racial justice and equality are incredibly complex, and each country has a different historical context, is at a different point of progress, and has a different way of moving forward. So mostly I learned to listen a lot and to ask questions without bias.
MARIE PEDERSON YCAB FOUNDATION, JAKARTA & SAMARINDA, INDONESIA I got to travel with my Indonesian coworkers to a remote part of the island of Borneo to run a career day. It was amazing to 1) be part of a career day for high schoolers in another country 2) see how Indonesian people do business trips and 3) get to travel with a new group of people.

SPIRIT FRIDAYS If you were a champion of high school spirit weeks or picked your Halloween costume in January, DoSomething is the place to be. During the summer we have a different theme each Friday. Whether it’s “Fandom Friday” or “Throwback Friday,” everyone is expected to participate!
BAKE OFFS What better way to celebrate Pride Month or Shark Week than by hosting a baking competition? Each summer we pit staff against each other to bake their hearts out in a cutthroat competition for the GOLDEN WHISK!
MOUNTAIN DAY DoSomething celebrated itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s first Mountain Day! We traded in our Flatiron office for hiking and apple picking in Upstate NY!

Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re Building a Generation of Changemakers DoSomething.org hosts bootcamp events across the country to engage with young people IRL about social impact. Our bootcamps bring together 150+ incredible students and gives them all of the tools they need to create their own movements for good in their communities. Bootcamps include training sessions, engaging speakers and panel discussions, plus the opportunity to connect with other incredible change-makers in various communities. And free swag, of course!
DoSomething.org staffers who have expertise in a particular field, from social media to civic engagement, run the training sessions. The DoSomething.org Annual Bootcamps also give staffers an opportunity to interact directly with hundreds of young people, who are at the core of everything we do.

Powered DoSomething’s Team Up, Dream Up campaign where members celebrated their friends through holding up a sign saying "I’m on your team. Keep on..." and write in something that their friend is passionate about.
Feeding Better Futures, powered by General Mills encouraged members to share an in-action solution to 1 of the 4 food system issues that they see in their communities and the communities around them.
CVS’s Save the Mascot campaign activated members to post a picture with their school mascot and tag their school imploring their campus to go tobacco-free.
DoSomething members encouraged friends to recycle their bathroom empties by creating recycling bins through Rinse, Recycle, Repeat, powered by Garnier.
These MVPs are improving youth access to sports through the nation’s largest sports equipment drive. And we’re shredding hate and bullying.
We’re in it for the long haul to fight Big Tobacco. This year we exposed predatory marketing tactics of tobacco companies and mobilized young people to fight back and not get ‘got’!

Besides being our best sounding board, ON helps us grow through more calls to action and international expansion.
