CAPE TOWN TO WOLF’S FANG: PLAN YOUR ANTARCTIC ADVENTURE JUTTING OUT FROM THE ICY LANDSCAPE OF NORWEGIAN ANTARCTICA, Wolf’s Fang Mountain is one of the few geographical features that interrupt the frozen canvas; a fitting namesake for the second high-end outpost from Antarctic travel company White Desert. Situated near the foot of the peak, which rises up 1,000m above the ice, Wolf’s Fang is an adventure base camp for groups of up to 12 intrepid travellers at a time, accessible via a private jet transfer from Cape Town, where guests usually spend a few days before their adventure begins. T h e n e a r b y p e a k s a ff o r d e n d l e s s opportunities: ice-climbing and abseiling on the frosty mountains, fat-biking across the frozen landscape or hiking to distant summits, all led by expert guides from White Desert. LINGER LONGER IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK AFTER A LONG FLIGHT, NO ONE LIKES HAVING TO WAIT AROUND for a few hours before checking into a hotel or resort, especially if you’re staying somewhere as incredible as Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. That’s why Wilderness Safaris Bisate Lodge has unveiled the new Bisate Kwanda Day Lounge, a gorgeous hand-crafted space where early arrivals or late departures can relax and unwind before checking in or leaving for the airport. The lounge features four en-suite bathrooms where guests can freshen up pre- or post-flight – especially useful for those who have been on a gorilla trek in the national park on the morning of departure – as well as tea and coffee making facilities, a spa treatment room and comfy leather armchairs around the traditional central fireplace.

HYDE HOTELS PREPARES FOR UAE DEBUT DUBAI’S BUSTLING BUSINESS BAY IS SET TO WELCOME the first international outpost of Hyde Hotels, Resorts & Residences later this year, when the US-born lifestyle brand makes its Middle East debut. The five-star Hyde Hotel Business Bay will be home to 276 rooms and luxury suites, each with its own private balcony looking out towards the Dubai Canal, Burj Khalifa or the iconic Dubai skyline. Striking design will play an important role throughout the hotel: guestrooms, public areas and Mediterranean restaurant Cleo will be designed by Milan-based design duo Ciarmoli Queda Studio, while the über-cool pool and lounge, contemporary Japanese restaurant Katsuya and upmarket burger joint Hudson Tavern, will be envisioned by Cape Town-based design firm Tristan Plessis Studio. Hyde Hotel Business Bay will be the fourth property operating under the Hyde brand – recently acquired by Accor as part of its acquisition of sbe’s hotel brands – when it opens in Q4, following on the heels of existing hotels in Miami and Florida. The hotel is being developed in collaboration with Emerald Palace Group, the company that owns the soon-to-open Raffles the Palm Dubai; previously Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai. Set on the

Deep in the heart of Switzerland, Engelberg is a picturesque resort town overlooked by Mount Titlis, a soaring alpine peak that’s home to ski trails in the winter and a web of hiking and biking trails in the summer.
