The dictionary definition of ‘island’ throws up words such as enclave, haven and sanctuary, each helping to conjure up that sense of escapism, where the surrounding waters of an island act as a force field safeguarding you from the unwanted intrusions of daily life.
That force field works on over-drive in the Maldives to ensure the power of laptops, phones and other plugged-in paraphernalia doesn’t overshadow the adventure.
