Welcome to Fitch and McAndrew Online III. My goodness, a lot has happened since our online exhibition, this time last year. In recent months we’ve moved production home to a newly built workshop in our garden. To work from home has been a dream that we have shared for all of our potting careers. The pots featured in this year’s exhibition were all made here, at Auchenvey Pottery in Corsock, surrounded by the beautiful and inspiring Galloway landscape. In January, we welcomed our son Fred to the world. He and Pippin are our daily companions in the workshop, Fred frequently viewing proceedings from a sling on one or other of our backs. Pippin, now two and a half, has started to make her first pots on the wheel. It’s inevitable that slip will run through their veins and we are pleased that they are learning about this ancient craft at such a formative age. Although this year has been a challenge at times, working in to the early hours to get everything done, while sharing the child care, it has also been truly wonderful. It is a great privilege to be able to spend our days together as a family, doing the thing we enjoy most. We have put every bit of love, care and energy in to making this as good a batch of pots as we have been able. They are joyful pots, born of complete contentment; we hope that you enjoy viewing them. We will allocate pieces strictly in order that the emails arrive and update the catalogue shortly at regular intervals after sales are confirmed. Postage will be at cost. We try to use as many recycled materials for packaging as possible. We can acquire a quote prior to purchase for overseas buyers, as the rates are much more variable than within the UK and we aim to provide the best value at time of dispatch. For UK delivery use the initial after the item price as a guide to postage costs: A: £8 B: £12 C: £15 D: £18 Payment can be taken by cheque (in Sterling), Direct Bank Transfer or Paypal. We will send the pots out as soon as we are able to. Visitors are welcome to come and view the pots at the workshop, just drop us a line to arrange a mutually convenient time. In order to get the high gloss finish on our pots we like to glaze thickly. Our glazes are fluid so on occasion we will grind back excess glaze from the foot of the pot to ensure that the piece will sit properly on a flat surface. We only grind the glaze however, not the body of the pot. Should you be unhappy with your purchase for any reason, you may send the piece back and we will offer a refund upon safe return of the work. In this instance, postage costs are covered by the purchaser and we would ask if you contact us before returning any pieces. Of course we hope that this won’t happen and that you will be delighted with your new purchase.
