Page 1

Using iMovie to select, edit and compose films Stage Import the film footage into iMovie. You need to import the clips you want to use into iMovie始s events library. You can then select and sequence them from there. You can also import directly from a camera - including the web camera on a Macbook. Events can be ordered by date and into groups/folders so that you can see find things easily.

Import photographs into iPhoto. If you want to use photographs in iMovie it is easiest to import them into iPhoto and then access them from the photo library in iMovie.

Create a new Project and give it a name You need to create a new project which you will create your film in. Give it a name you will remember and recognise.

Select and Compose Select the parts of the film clips and photography you want from the Event library, and place in the sequence you want them in the storyboard. Things can be undone and moved around once you have placed them.

Edit and Trim the Clip Once the clips are placed and sequenced, you can tweak the start and end points with real precision so that each one begins and finishes at just the point you want.

Adjust the video and audio for each clip. You can adjust the sound and video quality, as well as the duration of the clip from the Adjustment s menu. You also rotate any film, or crop it to cut out or focus on particular parts.

Adjust any images youʼve inserted. This way you can crop any photographs youʼve used, or change the start and end point of any ʻKen Burnsʼ setting. This is when the ʻcameraʼ pans and zooms across a still photo to create a sense of movement.

Add transitions between the clips and adjust their duration. There are a range of different transitions that you can just drag and drop. Select the transitions button from the grey menu bar, and then drag and drop the transition you want across.
