Introducing Mr Neil Dix-Picott Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care Sauveterre
I aim to encourage students to maximise their potential through unique experiences that Downe House offers.” “
Introducing our newest addition to the Downe House School faculty – a seasoned educator with an impressive 16-year tenure at a co-educational boarding school in Cambridge. Neil is an experienced professional who seamlessly blends teaching and pastoral responsibilities, having served as Housemaster and Head of Digital Learning. With expertise in French (up to A Level) and Spanish (up to GCSE), our new teacher holds a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Exeter, complemented by an impressive year at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour in France and an MA in European Languages & Cultures.
Diving further into academics, Neil possesses an MSc in Practice-based Research related to educational technology from the University of Hertfordshire, along with Undergraduate Certificates in English Medieval History from the University of Cambridge. This rich educational background underscores Neil’s commitment to both traditional and innovative approaches to learning.
Originally from the East of England, our new teacher’s
international experiences include studying abroad in France and Spain. Recently married in a ceremony in France, Neil and his spouse have relocated to the enchanting Château de Sauveterre. With shared interests in sports, including cricket and rugby, as well as a love for the outdoors, they have acquired a home in the Pyrénées Atlantiques for skiing in winter and hiking in summer alongside this.
In his role as Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care at Sauveterre, he aims to craft the development of our boarding provision by seamlessly integrating key aspects of French culture into the pupils’ experiences. He hopes that by recognising the historical and cultural significance of the Château and its location, we can foster a learning environment that not only respects but celebrates its heritage and that of Downe House. From the curriculum to co-curricular activities, the goal is to infuse elements of French language, cuisine, art, and history, allowing pupils to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of French culture while ensuring that they feel secure and supported.
“‘By nurturing a deep appreciation for French culture within the boarding community, I aspire to see the pupils continue to excel academically and develop into culturally aware, globally minded individuals.” - Mr Neil Dix-Pincott
