Struck weeks before Caesar’s death!

Sure to elevate any collection to a new level, this immensely rare silver denarius was one of the last coin types of iconic Roman ruler Julius Caesar, struck a matter of weeks before he was assassinated in March 44BC.

Struck in Rome in January and February of 44BC, the coin was issued under the authority of Marcus Mettius – a close ally of Julius Caesar, and a key player in the Gallic Wars. Upon the obverse of this crucial ‘lifetime issue’, we find a fine portrayal of the iconic Roman dictator, with Venus the Victorious depicted on the reverse.

A truly great Roman rarity in any condition, the Julius Caesar (M. Mettius) 44BC Silver Denarius seen here is graded Very Fine.
