Genuine coins of Julius Caesar!

A landmark opportunity, we are proud to present a selection of genuine coins from one of the most famous figures of global history – Julius Caesar.

Born into the ruling classes in 100BC, Caesar entered Roman politics in 73BC. Caesar’s political star rose quickly, and by c60BC, he formed the First Triumvirate with Crassus and Pompey. Although this unofficial alliance held firm for several years, Pompey and Caesar were increasingly drawn into conflict, leading to Caesar’s rebellion in 49BC.

Following victory in ‘Caesar’s Civil Wars’ (4945BC), Caesar was master of the Roman world. When he declared himself dictator for life, a group of Senators plotted Caesar’s murder and, in March 44BC, he was stabbed to death. Rather than ‘save the Republic’, as they hoped, the conspirators set Rome on an inevitable path to autocratic empire. Caesar’s assassins also failed to sully the reputation of a man they saw as a power-hungry tyrant and an enemy of liberty.

A military genius, brilliant politician, clever populist and shrewd reformer, Caesar is considered one of the greatest Romans, and one of the most crucial figures in the course of recorded history. To own a coin of Julius Caesar is to reach one of the highest peaks in numismatics.

Rare Caesar & Antony Double Portrait type!

An important, highly desirable Roman rarity, this coin portrays two of the world’s most famous figures – Julius Caesar and Marc Antony.

When Caesar died in 44BC, Antony portrayed himself as his natural successor, rather than official heir, Octavian. Seeking to create a strong connection with Caesar, Antony had this coin struck by a mobile military mint in Gaul in 43BC during his conflict with Octavian. Uniting Antony and Caesar’s portraits, this richly symbolic type is extremely rare in superior grade.

Struck by a mobile military mint during Caesar’s Civil Wars, and depicting an elephant trampling a serpent, this famous Roman type is a rare relic of Caesar’s march to power.

Celebrating Caesar’s triumph in the 58-50BC Gallic Wars, and rare in premium grade, this coin was struck by a mobile mint during the Civil Wars between Caesar and the Pompeians.

Depicting Julius Caesar, with contemporary banker’s marks, this rare posthumous type gives you the chance to own a genuine portrait coin of one of the world’s most famous figures.

Issued by Q. Voconius Vitulus, and bearing Julius Caesar’s portrait on the obverse with contemporary banker’s marks, this excessively rare Roman type is graded near Very Fine.
