Nestled on the historic riverfront, Marquart's Landing is not just a restaurant and bar, but also an integral part of Washington's illustrious history. With its prime location offering the best view of the Missouri River, Marquart's Landing invites you to experience its excellence in drink making, extensive food menu, and unwavering commitment to service and hospitality.
Stepping into Marquart's Landing is like taking a journey back in time. Built in 1855, the establishment was known as the Pacific House, a name derived from the new railroad line. The purpose behind its construction was to meet the needs of the growing population flocking to the area due to the Pacific Railroad. In its early days, the majority of guests were employees of the railroad, seeking refuge and sustenance after a long day of work. Throughout the years, the building has consistently served as a tavern and hotel, preserving its historical significance. At present, Rick and Karen Marquart proudly continue the tradition of their predecessors, honoring Washington's rich heritage.
Directly across from the Amtrak station, Marquart's Landing offers a full menu that caters to every palate. From savory soups and refreshing salads to mouthwatering sandwiches and their legendary pizzas, the options are boundless. Their weekly specials are undeniably a must-try, showcasing the culinary creativity of the chefs.
One of the standout features of Marquart's Landing is its selection of amazing drinks. With three fully stocked bars, visitors can choose to unwind indoors, find shelter in the covered Patio Bar, or bask in the open and spacious outdoor patio. The mixologists at Marquart's Landing are
truly skilled artisans who craft specialty drinks that delight the senses. Additionally, the bar offers a wide range of draft beers and a tempting array of bottled beverages. To elevate the dining experience, patrons can complement their drinks with tantalizing appetizers such as hot wings, cheese balls, toasted ravioli, and famous French Onion soup.
Marquart's Landing has received numerous accolades, and perhaps one of the most notable is their recognition as the fourth best "Missouri Restaurant with The Most Amazing Outdoor Patio You'll Love To Lounge On" by Only In Your State. And it's not difficult to see why. The enchanting outdoor patio with its illuminated trees creates an ambiance that is nothing short of magical. Adding to the charm are the sports events projected on large outdoor walls, ensuring that patrons never miss their favorite games. Complete with a bandstand for local musicians, evenings at Marquart's Landing come alive with live music. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Missouri River to the North and the grandeur of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church to the south, the atmosphere transcends beyond lively, becoming truly breathtaking.
Marquart's Landing artfully combines the charm and nostalgia of the past with modern-day pleasures. While indulging in the sumptuous offerings on the patio, train enthusiasts can relish the sight of trains passing by or eagerly await their own Amtrak journey. Whether seated inside or outside, sports fans can catch the hottest sporting events, broadcast live for an immersive experience. Visit Marquart’s Landing to experience good food, great drinks, and much-needed relaxation!

The story of Exit 11 Coffee began in 2015 with Angela Garland’s vision of creating a welcoming space for connection, collaboration, and creativity. What started as Exit 11 Workspace, a vibrant coworking center at the corner of 14th and Jefferson Streets, soon expanded to include a cozy coffee house in 2016. This inviting space quickly became a local hub where professionals, students, and coffee lovers could gather to work, unwind, or simply enjoy a great cup of coffee.
As customer demand grew, Angela and her husband Scott saw an opportunity to bring their coffee to even more people in a fast and convenient way. In 2018, they took a bold step forward by opening the first Exit 11 Coffee Drive-Thru just one block away. Designed with efficiency in mind, this innovative drive-thru allowed baristas to serve vehicles on both sides simultaneously. The concept was an instant hit, with the location serving over 60 cars an hour at peak times.
By 2024, Exit 11 Coffee had blossomed into eight drive-thru locations and a dedicated Coffee Roastery, where they could oversee every step of the roasting process and ensure that each bean met their high standards. Among their standout products is the signature WashMO Coffee Blend, featuring unique artwork lovingly created by Angela’s father.
At Exit 11 Coffee, quality isn’t just a priority, it’s a promise. Every drink and food item is crafted with care, using fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, small businesses, and specialty vendors. Their coffee beans, hand-selected from farmers committed to excellence, are both Organic and Rainforest Alliance Certified, ensuring sustainability and superior flavor. Roasted in small batches at their Washington, Missouri roastery, these beans create a rich, satisfying coffee experience that keeps customers coming back for more.
But what truly sets Exit 11 Coffee apart is its incredible team of baristas. Known for their warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism, they take pride in delivering outstanding service with a smile and a sense of urgency. Whether greeting a regular by name or helping a first-time visitor discover their new favorite drink, they embody the heart and soul of the Exit 11 experience.

East Central College Foundation
Scholarships continue to make an immediate and enduring impact on both students and the broader community.
“By donating to East Central College’s annual Friends of the Foundation scholarship campaign, you can make a positive difference not only in the lives of students but the entire region,” said Bridgette Kelch, Foundation Executive Director.
“As our students graduate, earn certificates, or complete training, they enter the local workforce with the skills necessary to succeed, which benefits all of us,” Kelch added. “ECC also lays the foundation for those students who want to continue their education at a four-year college, preparing them for their next step.”
More than 400 scholarships totaling $585,000 will be awarded in the 2024-25 academic year to students at East Central College. “Since its inception in 2002, the ECC Foundation has awarded more than $3.3 million in scholarships to students in need, all made possible by the generosity of our donors,” Kelch shared.
As the sole institution of higher education based in Franklin County, ECC serves thousands of students annually.
"We invite everyone to join us in our mission to transform lives through education," Kelch said. "By providing students with a promising future, they, in turn, contribute positively to our communities, companies, and lives."
"Every dollar dedicated to the ECC Foundation plays a crucial role in fortifying our communities for the benefit of all," she added. "Ultimately, it enhances students' lives
indefinitely."

Dr. Jon Bauer, college president, highlighted the growth and continuing need for community colleges.
“Community colleges are serving an increasing number of students in Missouri. For the first time, more first-time, full-time undergraduates in Missouri are enrolling at community colleges than at four-year institutions,” he said.
“As president, I am committed to ensuring that we continue to provide not only the best value in higher education but also the highest level of academic quality and student support,” he added.
East Central College was created and is locally supported by residents of the college district. The East Central College District includes six public K-12 districts: Crawford County R-1 (Bourbon), New Haven, St. Clair R-13, Sullivan C-2, Union R-11, and Washington; as well as four public K-8 districts: Franklin County R-2, Lonedell R-14, Spring Bluff R-15, and Strain-Japan R-16. Are you a true sports fanatic looking for the ultimate game-day experience? Look no further! The Draft Room is the undisputed champion when it comes to watching the big games.
William Wolf constructed the Wolf Hotel in 1869 for lodging purposes alongside the railroad in downtown Washington. That original year is still the building’s namesake. Rick Marquart, Karen Marquart, and Alan Breid took this staple, vintage building, synonymous with Washington and renovated it with a blend of rustic aesthetics and a modern, high-tech entertainment system for an utterly amazing venue offering an experience unlike anything else in town. They definitely have the sports and cold beer covered with 30 beer taps, more than 30 TVs, and a kitchen that stays open late. But they didn’t just stop there. In addition to tons of sports, beer, and great food, they’ve got spirits, wine, and regular activities to keep you entertained. All this coupled with outstanding customer service, the Draft Room is your new home for sports!
One of the notable features of the Draft Room is its breathtaking view, particularly from the patio overlooking the river. This scenic view adds to the venue’s appeal, creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meals and drinks.
It's not uncommon for historic buildings to undergo changes and adapt to modern needs, and the Draft Room has successfully evolved into a place that meets customers’ needs, providing a diverse menu and a delightful setting for patrons. Visit 1869 Draft Room, where every day is game day!
Gary R. Lucy Gallery
Visit Gary R. Lucy Gallery and step into the world of an egret enjoying a mid-morning snack; a steamboat churning upriver in a historic race; or a near collision of boats on a foggy morning. The river comes to life, both past and present, with the stroke of Gary Lucy's brush. Whether working on his floating river studio, the River Rover, or in his home studio on the Missouri riverfront in Washington, Missouri, Gary Lucy captures the beauty and ruggedness of nature and river life.
Strolling through the Gallery gives you an appreciation of the various towns and ports along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers during the 1800s.
Lucy has spent 52 years at the easel and continues to pursue his art up and down the river and into the pages of the past. He says he’ll never retire but admits to enjoying a bit of semi-retirement. “I paint on rainy days, cold days, and extremely hot days. On the nice days, I enjoy getting out and swinging the golf club. This old man can still play a pretty fair game.”
The Gallery offers professional custom framing services plus home decor, tabletop, and gifts. Tabletop brands include Lenox, Wedgwood, Waterford, Vera Wang, Mariposa, Noritake, Mikasa, and Wilton Armetale. A Wedding Registry is also offered, which provides "small-town personal service".
Whether it's historic art, tabletop, or home decor you and your family will find Gary R. Lucy Gallery an enjoyable stop during your visit to Washington. The Gallery is open Monday-Saturday at Main and Elm Streets in Historic Downtown Washington.
