Why York? What made you decide to move here or stay here?
My mom started the business 10 years ago as Cherie Anne Design, and her establishing the business in York City allowed me to discover all of the good stuff it had to offer. I fell in love with the people, businesses, and diversity. When I took over business, I didn’t even consider moving because of how Downtown York grew over the last decade and I wanted to be a part of the continued potential.
What do customers love about your business?
Customers love that this is a family business. We have a loyal customer base. Our customers are friends. People appreciate the care and attention that goes into the products. The teas are hand blended and packaged, and carefully selected. A customer favorite is our Fairy Dust Tea with edible glitter in it.
What are you most excited about for the future of Downtown York?
The aesthetic of Downtown York and the expansion of what each district has to offer. I am excited about all of the people that have invested in Downtown York, and all of the energy in making it better. We are aware of where we have been and we have a vision about where we want to go. The people as a collective are willing to do the work to get there.
How would you describe York in one word?
Blooming. The seeds have been planted over the last decade and we are just starting to see the effects of that. I think we will continue to see the residual effects of all of the efforts of individuals, businesses, and creatives that have come together.
Favorite spot to eat Downtown?
Tutoni’s (108 N George St) - the Short Rib Gnocchi is my go-to!
What is your favorite place to visit in Downtown York?
The Appell Center for the Performing Arts. I enjoy taking my daughter there to see live shows and movies on First Fridays.
Over the years, what has been your proudest moment while in Downtown York?
Our resiliency through COVID. I took the opportunity to rebrand and invest that time to making that come to fruition. I found silver linings by reaching customers through social media/website, made products available through these platforms, and took advantage of what was available and capitalized on that.
Where would you tell someone to visit if they are planning a trip to Downtown?
I would suggest they visit the museum and stroll around and view the great architectural history.
What about York's past and present or future inspires you?
Downtown York looked very different 10 years ago. We are on an upswing within the last decade. There has been so much improvement, and so many new businesses and investment in the city. I only see it continuing to progress and improve. There are so many great people working on the city to improve it.
