YOU'VE SPENT 30 YEARS BUILDING YOUR NEST EGG. NOW COMES THE HARD PART: MAKING IT LAST ANOTHER 30. The challenges facing today's retirees are unique. Low interest rates, sky-rocketing healthcare costs, longer life expectancies, and complex Social Security rules all make much of the conventional retirement wisdom of the past obsolete. In this new era, it's crucial that you take a fresh look at the challenges ahead and create a comprehensive plan to address them. For 25 years, we've been working with people like you to address the challenges of the transition from accumulating their nest egg to using it to support their retirement lifestyle. Get in touch today to schedule a complimentary consultation.

WELCOME FROM THE MAYOR It is my great pleasure as your new mayor to welcome you to DPAC! Like so many Durham residents, I recognize the jewel that DPAC is to Durham and the Triangle region. Though we’ve endured a few changes for everyone’s safety as we’ve attended shows recently, attendees have supported the health-related actions and worn their masks cheerfully. That’s the true spirit of Durham. I’m thrilled to say that DPAC, after more than a decade, is continuing to showcase the energy, the passion and great entertainment with a list of performances that people will travel from miles around to see. The awardwinning HAMILTON is set to return for three dynamic weeks in May. If you have seen it before, now is your time to see it again. If you’ve never seen it, trust me and hundreds of thousands of others who have seen the show, you are in for a treat. There are other shows and artists I’m sure you won’t want to miss, including RENT, a perennial rock musical that premiered on Broadway in the 90s, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Hadestown, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, the renowned astrophysicist and author. Those are just a few of the superstar performances that are featured this season. And as usual, all the trappings that come with seeing a Broadway show or concert at DPAC still await you, starting with the beauty of the theater and DPAC’s legendary customer service. A visit to DPAC is an open invitation to experience Durham. It’s as easy as parking and walking to downtown restaurants, or taking a short drive to nearby malls, museums, or historical sites. As your mayor, I’m so excited that one of my duties is to officially welcome you to perhaps one of the greatest theaters in the world! But don’t take my word: Just last year, DPAC was ranked 4th, 6th, and 7th by national theater reviewers and magazines, including Pollstar, Venues Now and Billboard Magazine. Thank you for choosing DPAC and Durham. Now settle into your seats to enjoy your DPAC experience and an unforgettable show. Sincerely,
Mayor Elaine O’Neal

WELCOME FROM GENERAL MANAGER Welcome to DPAC! Or maybe better said … welcome back to DPAC! On behalf of my team at DPAC and our parent companies, Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management, we feel incredibly fortunate to once again be welcoming guests to DPAC, not only for great Broadway shows, but for all of the 200 performances planned for this season including world-class concerts, superstar comedians, and the many special events including speakers, holiday performances and family shows. The future looks very bright as all of Broadway’s biggest hit shows have DPAC in their plans, not just for this 2021 / 2022 season, but also for next season and beyond. As we planned and prepared for our reopening, your safety and peace of mind remained our highest priority. Our comprehensive Safety First Commitment is designed to protect guests, staff, vendors, and visiting shows, while maintaining the legendary customer experience for which DPAC is best known. We also want to recognize and thank the City of Durham for their commitment to safety with an investment of over $250,000, which enabled DPAC to add state-of-theart air purification systems, new touchless cleaning and disinfection equipment, touchless restroom fixtures, contactless ticket scanning equipment, contactless food & beverage payment processing, over 150 hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipe dispensers, and more. More than anything we want you to know how important you have been to DPAC as we have been planning and preparing to reopen for live events. Throughout our temporary closure, just 5% of our members contacted us to return their season tickets. Knowing that so many of our members and fans of DPAC events were cheering us on, gave the team here the extra fortitude needed to keep working toward the goal of being among the best prepared centers for live entertainment in America. And now the day is at hand for when we can once again say; “Welcome to DPAC, we’re glad you are here.” Sincerely,
Bob Klaus General Manager

MOBILE ENTRY AT DPAC Your Phone is Now Your Ticket
Mobile entry is a safe, easy, convenient, and contactless way to access and manage your tickets all in one place. Safety is every venue’s #1 priority and mobile entry gives DPAC a better understanding of who guests are prior to every performance through this new adaptation. Now, more than ever, it is critical for venues to know who is in possession of each ticket in order to be able to share important information with them regarding health and safety measures before the doors open and the show begins. With mobile entry, which is powered by DPAC’s official ticketing partner Ticketmaster, there’s no need for direct contact or physical exchange of your ticket. Mobile entry guarantees a quick and safe ticket scan straight from your phone. Our secure ticket technology reduces the risk of ticket fraud, eliminating the possibilities of theft or counterfeiting. Once you’ve purchased your mobile tickets on Ticketmaster, you can always rest assured you’re getting the seats you paid for. Always be aware, though. WHO’S WHO IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY A guide to the characters that inspired Hadestown.
ORPHEUS—Son of the muse of epic poetry, engaged to marry Eurydice. With his golden voice and lyre, Orpheus charmed all living things, even rocks and stones. EURYDICE—A dryad, or tree nymph, engaged to marry Orpheus. On the day of their wedding, she was bitten by a poisonous snake, died, and descended to the Underworld.
HADES—God of the dead, ruler of the Underworld, sometimes called “the Wealthy One.” He fell in love with, abducted, and married Persephone. Her mother, goddess of the harvest, refused to bless the earth while Persephone was below. PERSEPHONE—Goddess of the seasons, flowers, fruit, and grain. By arrangement, she spent half the year with Hades in the Underworld, causing fall and winter above. The other half she returned to her mother, bringing spring and summer with her. HERMES—Fleet-footed guide, messenger of the gods, and conductor of souls to the Underworld. In some tellings, it was Hermes who taught Orpheus to play the lyre.
FATES—Three goddesses who together determined the destinies of mortals, measuring their lifespans and apportioning their suffering. CHORUS—In ancient Greek theater, the Chorus sang, spoke, and danced in unison. Often representing the voice of the citizens, the Chorus commented on the actions of characters and served as an emotional conduit for the audience.

GUEST ETIQUETTE At DPAC, we’re committed to Guest Courtesy. Please remember to be a good neighbor to those seated around you. AFTER THE PERFORMANCE
Yes, the lobby gets busy and the parking lots can be tricky, but please remain at your seats until the houselights come up. As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, DPAC asks that you do not rush for the exits prematurely at the end of the performance.
ENTERING AND EXITING THE SEATING AREA
Please time your exits and re-entry to the seating area to occur only at intermission or breaks between songs. This is a courtesy to other guests around you who will appreciate you keeping these disruptions to a minimum.
KIDS AT DPAC
Please note that all guests require a ticket, regardless of age. Children under the age of 6 are not allowed at most DPAC performances including Broadway, Concerts and Comedy shows. For some shows, DPAC will make recommendations on the appropriate minimum age based on the content and the length of the event. Parental discretion is always advised and judgment of the appropriateness of the content for each show should be made on an individual basis prior to purchase. Children must be able to sit quietly in their own seat without disturbing other guests. As a further courtesy to our guests, DPAC recommends one parent or chaperone for every one child in attendance.
IT CAN WAIT.
Please save texting until AFTER the show. The light from phones is distracting to others throughout the theater. Please keep them turned off.
IT’S SUPERSTAR ENTERTAINMENT, NOT A FOOD FEST
Small snacks and drinks are welcome in the seating area, but as a courtesy to those around you, eat and drink as quietly as possible. Please know that odors and noisy wrappers can disturb others. We also ask that you finish sandwiches or other large food items before entering the seating area.
PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEO RECORDING USING MOBILE PHONES
At DPAC, each event that we host determines their own policy on photography and video recording using mobile phones. Please note that GoPro’s, tablets, and cameras of any kind are prohibited at all DPAC events. All Broadway shows prohibit photography and video recording.
QUIET PLEASE.
Once the show starts, please let the stage be the center of attention. We ask that you turn off all cell phones and limit conversation. If children are attending this performance with you, please exit the theater immediately if they become restless or talkative.

DISCOVER BROADWAY Help local students experience their first ever Broadway show! Discover Broadway offers Truist Broadway members a way to donate tickets so their valuable seats do not go unused.
Thanks to the generosity of DPAC’s Truist Broadway members, hundreds of tickets have been donated to deserving students from high schools and universities located throughout Durham. For many, these seats provided oppor tunities for students to experience their first ever Broadway show. By donating the tickets you cannot use, Durham students will receive the oppor tunity of a lifetime.
Here’s how you can donate: • If you know in advance that you cannot attend a show, or even if one member of your party will not be joining you, simply contact DPAC at :
DiscoverBroadway@dpacnc.com
• You will receive an acknowledgment from DPAC that your unused tickets will be reprinted for donation to an area student. • DPAC will handle all other details and provide instructions to the recipient on how to access their tickets. * Ticket donations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the performance date. Discover Broadway donations do not provide tax donation receipts.

DPAC’S LOCAL HERO SPOTLIGHT Sharing the Magic of Live Entertainment Each year, DPAC’s Local Hero program provides VIP experiences to the most deserving community members who make a difference for others in everyday life here in the Triangle. Community members selected for this honor receive a DPAC VIP experience, including premium seating to a select show, VIP parking and access to DPAC’s President’s Club hospitality area. It is our hope that recipients, many of whom may be first-time DPAC guests, have the opportunity to enjoy the magic of live entertainment at DPAC as a small reward for their service in our communities. Want to nominate someone? Visit DPACnc.com for more information.
