MONDAY, JUNE 19 - FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 Durham Parks and Recrea on (DPR) summer camp programs offer a safe, inclusive environment where all children are encouraged to par cipate. We are commi ed to the development of our campers’ life skills through group ac vi es and exposure to diverse athle c and educa onal experiences.

GENERAL INFORMATION Camp begins Monday, June 19 and ends Friday, August 18 | Camp Hours: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. (except where indicated) Camps are closed on Tuesday, July 4, for the holiday.

YOUTH CAMPS | AGE: 5-12 (except where indicated) TEEN CAMPS | AGE: 13-17 (except where indicated) Child must have completed kindergarten and turned five by September 1, 2016, and cannot be older than 12 years of age by September 1, 2016.

Teen must be 13 by September 1, 2016, and cannot be older than 17 years of age by September 1, 2016.

Proof of age (birth cer ficate) is required for all camp registra ons.

FEES

SLIDING FEE SCALE (SFS)

Per child, per week (unless otherwise indicated) City Resident: $132 Non-City Resident: $157

A sliding fee scale scholarship may be used to reduce the amount paid for childcare programs including summer camps, a er school programs and intersession. The scale ranges from 10-100% pay and is based on income, number of members per household, and special circumstances affec ng the applicant’s ability to pay.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

To apply for this program, please complete a Sliding Fee Scale applica on and submit it at any recrea on center. Applica ons are available online at dprcareprograms.org, at the administra on office or any recrea on center. If approved, the reduced fee is valid for one year.

In order to reserve space, please be prepared to make a $25 payment per week at the me of registra on. Sliding Fee Scale and mulƟ-child discounts may apply.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a new SFS registrant or your current applicaƟon is expired or will expire soon, you must submit a new applicaƟon by February 24 to ensure that it is processed and approved by the March 13 summer camp registraƟon date.

Failure to do so will result in the par cipant being withdrawn from ALL sessions of summer camp and the loss of any deposits paid. For registra ons that take place a er June 2, 2017, these forms must be turned in at the me of registra on. These forms can be found at dprcareprograms.org.

On December 1, DPR rolled out a new online registra on system. If you have not yet accessed the system, visit durhamnc.gov/976/Register-Online for instruc ons on how to set up your account. Instruc ons are available for both exis ng and new customers.

Registra on for East Durham, W.I. Pa erson, Eno Discovery Camp, and Adventure Camp will not be held onsite. Registra on for these sites will be accepted at any open recrea on center, the administra on office or online.

It is recommended that you complete this process before March 13 so that your registra on process goes smoothly. Adventure camp is geared toward youth who love the outdoorscamping, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and much more. The camp focuses on outdoor learning, leadership, discovery and fun. ENO DISCOVERY

Spend a week at the Eno River and the surrounding landscape. Campers will discover the world of plants, insects and animals in and around the Eno River. ROAD TO BROADWAY

Road to Broadway is a NEW 5 week Performance Theater Camp. This camp is a performing arts camp. Campers will receive instruc on and stage experience in dance, music (solo and/or ensemble singing, harmony and music theory), and drama (ac ng techniques). East Durham Recrea on Center will hold a 3 week S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathema cs) based summer camp. Volunteers in Training program is geared for teens. Teens will par cipate in a week long camp that will explore volunteer and career opportuni es. Par cipants will get hands-on experiences with both private and community based organiza ons. This camp will provide team building ac vi es, as well as other fun and exci ng learning opportuni es.
