“
Going to a school in rural Indiana, only an hour from home, I really wanted to go out and experience the world. I was lucky enough to be able to go on three abroad experiences, two Winter Terms that then culminated into a full semester studying abroad. During my trip to Ecuador with Timmy Global Health, I was able to get real medical experience at all aspects of patient care. I believe that this experience, coupled with the fact that I was able to live in another culture in New Zealand and challenge myself each day, led me to be accepted into and ultimately more prepared for medical school.” MADDIE SMITH ’18, biology major (Photo: Maddie skydiving in New Zealand)

To have the opportunity to study abroad in Amman, Jordan and conduct research on the prevalence of depressive symptoms among Syrian adolescent refugee girls has been a humbling and life-changing experience. As a result of this experience, I have decided to conduct research post undergrad in communities that are often neglected and misunderstood. STEPHANIE ESPINAL ’19, global gealth major, Posse Scholar, Off-Campus Study to Amman Jordan

HONORS AND FELLOWS PROGRAMS At DePauw, our liberal arts curriculum affords students the opportunity to discover their interests both before and after declaring a major in the sophomore year, which is why the DePauw Gold Commitment offers an exploratory path with guaranteed success. Students who commit to these programs may know their intended course of study when they begin the first year, and come in ready to dive deep in specific areas, such as media, science, entrepreneurship or the environment.
DePauw enables you to expand the breadth and depth of your major through the interdisciplinary Honor Scholar Program or one of four focused Fellows Programs. HONOR SCHOLAR
The Honor Scholar Program provides a home for students who understand that the most pressing and important issues in the world require the ability to think and work across disciplines and backgrounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWS
The Environmental Fellows Program prepares students to deal with the complexity of understanding the ways the environment sustains and intersects with every facet of our lives – science, technology, human health, war and peace, politics and culture.
MANAGEMENT FELLOWS
DePauw’s Management Fellows Program connects students interested in business and management with the best of a liberal arts education and real-world experiences. This program provides a semesterlong, off-campus internship.
