Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Dr. Todd Kevin Young, a 54-year-old medical professional, was born and raised in Springdale, Newfoundland, a small town with around 3,000 people. Despite the town's modest size, he has made a considerable mark on the local community and the healthcare landscape in Newfoundland and Labrador. Over the years, he has worked in various roles, including family doctor, emergency physician, educator, and leader in healthcare. Today, he is the Medical Director of Main Street Medical Clinic and the CEO of MEDICURO Virtual Health Inc., two organizations he founded and continues to lead. After completing his high school education in Springdale, Dr. Young initially pursued a career in nursing. He earned his Diploma in Nursing from the Western Memorial Regional Hospital School of Nursing in 2001. His nursing career took him to various locations, most notably as an outpost nurse in Indigenous communities in northern Ontario. His experiences during this time fueled his desire to further his education and career, leading him to Lakehead University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Nurse Practitioner in 2000. Dr. Young's passion for medicine led him to pursue a medical degree, which he earned from McMaster University in 2004. After completing his medical degree, he finished his residency in rural family medicine at McMaster, focusing on providing care to underserved areas. In 2006, he completed his residency, and since then, he has continued to enhance his qualifications, including earning an Executive MBA specializing in Occupational Health and Safety. He is currently working towards completing a Diploma in Dermatology at Cardiff University.
