What: OUT OF LINE is an illustration based event aimed to bring together student and professional practitioners to challenge the perceptions of what illustration is or what it can be.

Where: Leeds Trinity Church

When: Early October Being mainly aimed at students we want to set our event when it’s the easiest for students. So we decided it would be best just when students have their loans and are starting back at university (Start of an academic year; Just after Christmas;

Why: Leeds is a creative hub with an ever expanding student population it has the fourth largest student population in the country. As Illustrators and creatives ourselves this is our passion, we want to add to this creative community, strengthen it by bringing students and professionals together and educate people that illustration is not limited to the drawings you see in books.

Visitor Walk Through • Stalls run by students, selling/trading artwork • Local food/drink vendors • Talks & workshops from professionals


Day Specifics Stalls: To be set up in the morning according to pre-planned venue map by volunteers and overseen by the management team. Assignment officer to be located at the front desk to direct stallholders to their tables. Stallholders will be free to set up 1-2 hours before planned opening time. All stalls must be paid for in full prior to opening. Professional Talks: Professional speakers will have allocated timeslots which will have been agreed upon prior to the event and outlined for all in the convention program. One member of management will be assigned to liaise with all professional speakers and will be organising them throughout the day. Workshops: Workshop sign-ups to assigned on a first come first served basis. Workshop fee to be agreed upon with tutor and outlined in the convention program. Exhibitions: Exhibitions to be set up in the morning by the artist and overseen by the managing curator.

Costs Venue Cost - £800 – 8am to 12am SIA Register door supervisors (Required by venue for 120+ visitors) - £140 Professionals – travel costs (£100 max) x4 = 400 or free stall Crew shirt- £28 (for 10) PRS fees - £48 - £96 (200 peeps) Public liability cover –up to 500 -£101 Deposit (cleaning) - £200 Total- 1715 Tickets – £5 Stall cost - £40 per table

Advertising: Social Media (Facebook; Instagram; Twitte Poster / Leaflet designs – Free Print budget - £150 (A4 – A2 posters; Busin Flyers)


Price Structure • Venue Cost - £600 – 8am to 5pm • SIA Register door supervisors (Required by venue for 120+ visitors) - £140 • Tickets - £5 per person – 120 sales to meet venue cost • Stall cost - £35 per table • 21 tables at £35 each plus 120 ticket sales at £5 each = £1,335 (£595 left over for professional fees, insurance and our wage)


Walk through stalls and set up Opening time : 9am to 5pm Our crew will come to the view few hours early to set up stalls, equipment and making sure everything isready at the opening time. Give the volunteers/crews some trainings before the actual event.


Growth & Expansion Year One: One-day convention. Year Two: Two- day convention. Year Three: Two day convention in a larger venue. Year Four: Two day convention with fringe events. Year Five: Nationally recognised two day convention, high profile professional speakers.
