EASY AND SAFE CLEANING OF SEDIMENTATION PONDS IN THE PHOSPHATE INDUSTRY

THE CHALLENGE OF PONDS MAINTENANCE FOR THE PHOSPHATE INDUSTRY The context As many industrial processing, also the phosphate extraction requires huge amounts of water. The phosphate ore must pass through a variety of processes to remove apatite (the main phosphorous mineral) from its gangue minerals. The phosphate sludge is an intermediate product of processing; it is usually stored in big tailing dams around the mines. However, since this sludge still contains a high percentage of phosphate material, it is pumped back into the plant for further extraction. How to guarantee the correct maintenance of ponds and to ease the reprocessing the tailings?

OUR SOLUTIONS HIGH EFFICIENCY AND A LONG LIFE TIME Here you can find a a concrete example of our solutions for the phosphate mining sector. We have supplied two remote control dredges (DRP120) and five submersible pumps for heavy slurries (EL300B, EL604B, No.2 EL60B, EL25A). 1. Sludge from crushed minerals in excess of the treated portion in the dryer is accumulated in three ponds where the Dragflow DRP 120 is in operation. 2. Dredges pump the sludge through a set of thickeners to get the correct solids concentration. 3. The concentrated sludge is pumped into the flotation step of the process to remove the remaining gangue minerals, which produce a phosphate concentrate (APATITE). The concentrate is mixed with sulfuric acid in the chemical plant producing phosphoric acid.
