EVOL DOLL. ITCHING. 40*52 cm Mdf 05/2006 Once, I stood in a supermarket waiting at the checkout. With other ordinary people. Except that one lady behind me. Dressed up clean and inaccessable like a stewardess. Perfect hair, perfect skin and body. Everything about her was so superficial, that the only thing from which you could tell that she's a human being was the itching spot on her collarbone.

EVOL PLATTENBAUTEN Even though this economically optimized method of construction is not an invention of the former German Democratic Republic, these apartment blocks are still a symbol of the socialist regime. On the basis of a serious lack of living space after World War II, the government started an ambitious undertaking to create affordable flats for all their workers. Unlike the deteriorating townhouses, these housing projects promised to make the socialist dream come true by offering a higher standard of living that everyone could afford. But, beside the fact that the government ran out of money, this dream has turned into a (dys)functional nightmare. They're perfect reminders of human error and class society.

ARTTRAIL FROM WHERE I STAND In September 2006 Mary Cremin invited us to take part in "From Where I Stand", an outside exhibition she curated as part of the Arttrail Festival in Cork, Ireland. Located in the historical part of town with small houses and narrow streets, we felt like contrasting the charming working class area in an economically flourishing country with Berlin's working class outskirts. One of the few times, that Pisa and I had cut on the same stencils for two days ...
