People of China Town, Bangkok

China Town, in Bangkok, is a place that truly represents Asia, an unimaginable blend of sensations, colors, smells and tastes. People are having a real pleasure in buying and selling stuff. The amount of products exposed is overwhelming and sometimes requires an effort of imagination to figure out what they are. China town is in the same time a big restaurant, a motorbike rally arena and a bazaar. It is so crowded and almost dysfunctional, however it seems to function in its own way, just fine for the locals but out of this word for visitors. China Town seems to generate so much energy: waves of people moving around, stacks of merchandise transported from one place to another, all the heat required to cook the food, but in the same time it seems to be a world of boredom and laziness, with people looking like the phone is their best friend or even taking a nap. We had the chance to spend few hours stumbling on the small alleys, staring at some exotic fruits, waiting to get the chance to move on, right between two speeding motorbikes. But also appreciating the diversity of people in their own environment, as the people are the real soul of such place. And as in the past some were thinking that by taking the portrait of someone you capture a piece of his soul, we tried to capture the soul of China Town by immortalizing the portraits of its people.
