A Letter from our President KARL ERTLE

Gratitude fills the air as we begin the second semester!

Please enjoy this annual report from our Advancement Department that you and so many others have made possible through incredible generosity---for which we give thanks to God! We simply could not do what we do in this important mission without the sacrifices and gifts of so many friends of the school. We are working to build a culture of philanthropy here at Walsh Jesuit in which we can partner with you to demonstrate your “love for humankind” as the Greek origins indicate---and where we can inspire you to partner in mission. Led by chair Tom Haag ’81, about whom you will read in these pages, the Walsh Jesuit Board of Directors comprises 24 invested members of the WJ family. They are Jesuits, alumni, past or current parents, and friends of the school; all bring expertise in areas that are vital to the good work of WJ and take their fiduciary responsibilities very seriously, giving without counting the cost.

You will see names on these pages of those who have given so loyally and generously year after year. We are so grateful for these steadfast donors who, without fail, have helped advance the academic and co-curriculars, helped faculty earn advanced degrees, and invested in Catholic, Jesuit education.

Every five years, the Jesuit province missions a committee of lay and Jesuits to visit each high school and study the Ignatian identity. In the conclusion of the group’s report, Walsh Jesuit received very favorable reviews and is in good standing with the province as a member school that is preparing students to light the world on fire.

We welcome our new president, Fr. Christopher Fronk, SJ, who will move down the hall after serving as vice president for mission. He has been at several of our other Jesuit schools and is a native of Pittsburgh, and you will meet him shortly. We are so grateful that Fr. Fronk has been missioned to the Walsh Jesuit community.

For these good gifts from God and our Walsh Jesuit, we demonstrate our gratitude. I am confident that with the continued good work of so many, our strategies for success will lead Walsh Jesuit to continue to work for God’s great glory, A.M.D.G.

Karl Ertle President
