Acknowledgement Of Country
Drake International acknowledges and honours the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, water, and culture.
We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.
About The Artist
Kinya Lerrk (Wemba Wemba for ‘women coming together’) is the collaboration of Aboriginal visual artists Emma Bamblett (Wemba Wemba, Gunditjmara, Ngadjonji and Taungurung) and Megan Van Den Berg (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta and Boon Wurrung), who have a strong and established history of collaboration on design and arts-based projects. Kinya Lerrk is inspired by landscapes, native fauna and animals representing land and sea, to tell stories of the local people and culture.
Kinya Lerrk focuses on using design and art to make homes and offices come alive with colourful designs that celebrate Aboriginal culture and respectfully acknowledge Traditional Owners of land. They are strong in culture, well connected to community and work according to cultural protocols. They both have a long family history of talent with their Ancestors passing down their artistic talants and cultural stories, and both are passionate about continuing to share their culture through art.
About The Artwork
“The artwork Kinya Lerrk created represents Drake International on it’s reconciliation journey, whilst celebrating Aboriginal culture, connection to country, and respect for people.
The overall essence of the artwork depicts how Drake International truly cares about everyone they cross paths with and how the organisation recognises and supports the uniqueness and needs of the diverse people and businesses they work with. For us as Aboriginal people, this is our essence too, as our interconnectedness is how we demonstrate our care for each other.
The bold colours and high energy celebrate Drake International’s energy and passion for the services they deliver. The blue skies and clouds highlight prosperity. The dot and line work that fills each cloud and the sky around them signifies rain, rain that becomes the pouring of success. The curved stream above the clouds represents the journey of where Drake International has come from, and where they are going as an organisation and in reconciliation.
The sun on the left side of the artwork depicts hope and wellness. The sun’s rays beaming down captures and represents the joy, laughter, and happiness the people of Drake International feel toward everything they do. The sun rays pour onto Country, which is depicted as the green hill formations, and this inspires growth and nurturing. The green circle symbols between each hill formation depict dignity. These symbols are elevated to show the importance and pride that Drake International have in their services and people.
The footprint depicts mentorship. The footprints are leading the way, supporting, modelling, and setting the direction for the people Drake International support and guide. The dot work from the footsteps represents the journey shared and the impact that mentorship and knowledge passed on has on Drake International’s candidates and clients. The people figures depict the diverse and multicultural peoples that Drake International work with, their families, and the role that Drake International plays when supporting their employment or talent management journey. The darker purple rings between the people captures the essence of their experiences, celebrating the nurturing approach taken, whilst empowering individuals and respecting their personal and unique needs.
The orange section with the hand symbols represents a helping hand. The orange dots create a trail and represent the Drake International team supporting and helping each individual and treating them respectfully on their employment journey. The far-right purple section has stones balancing, representing the notion of equality. Despite the stones being all different sizes, shapes, and tones, they are all equally supported.
The final layer represents connection. The circles with the straight lines connecting to each other are symbols of Drake International’s services, care, and support, particularly to those that require additional support. The white dots surrounding the circles represent all the people Drake International bring together and help to improve their lives”.

It is with great pleasure that Drake International presents its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The Reflect RAP formalises our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and our genuine desire to contribute to positive change in social, economic and health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Drake International is proud to join the ranks of Australian businesses standing together for meaningful social equity and change. For more than 70 years, Drake International has supported people of all abilities and backgrounds. We continue to embrace our responsibility in strengthening the capability of Australia’s employment services sector to provide greater opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve at their full potential.
Drake International’s Reflect RAP forms a roadmap to further ensure ongoing diversity and inclusion in all elements of our business. As we work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve greater parity, it is our hope that this Reflect RAP contributes to laying the path for enduring national reconciliation across this great continent.
We recognise the contributions and achievements of First Nations peoples to the successful operation of our business. Day-to-day, Drake International respectfully conducts its activities with specific offices in the Traditional Owner sites belonging to the Wurundjeri people, Gadigal people, Turrbal and Yuggera people, Larrakia people, Noongar people, Kaurna people, Wiradjuri People, Bunurong people, Dja Dja Wurrung people, Yugambeh people, Ngunnawal people and Wulgurukaba of Gurambilbarra, Yunbenun, Bindal, Gugu Badhun and Nywaigi People.
Drake International’s Reflect RAP represents the culmination of the goodwill and respect our staff have for this great land and its people. It is a natural reflection of our corporate values, with Diversity and Inclusion featuring prominently amongst our other core values of Respect, Achievement, Passion, and Integrity.
It is with great pride that our staff unanimously embraced the creation of this Reflect RAP, and happily embarked upon a journey designed to firmly cement the precepts of the Reflect RAP within our organisation: “…enablement of organisations to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation”. Our aim is to work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, businesses, and communities to ensure there are more meaningful opportunities for economic equality and self-determination.
Our teams enthusiastically drove this important initiative, forming focus groups to identify ways to demonstrate our commitment to this objective not only through words, but in tangible actions, initiatives, and behaviours. The process of working together with Traditional Owners enriched our lives and enabled all those involved to better appreciate the value and wisdom of these ancient cultures, reinforcing the importance of reconciliation even further. More than words on a page, the Reflect RAP will form part of who we are and what we do.
Drake International’s mission is to help people live their best lives and its desire is to see all communities flourish. This Reflect RAP is essential to achieving this and will be organic in nature, continuing to evolve overtime and ensuring we are equipped to address future challenges and opportunities for the betterment of society.
We would like to thank all the Traditional Owners of this land for allowing us to work together to achieve a better future for all who live here.

A from Message from Reconciliation Australia
These outcomes contribute towards the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations; equality and equity; institutional integrity; unity; and historical acceptance.
It is critical to not only uphold all five dimensions of reconciliation, but also increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge, and leadership across all sectors of Australian society.
Reconciliation Australia welcomes Drake International to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program with the formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect RAP.
Drake International joins a network of more than 2,200 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the Reflect RAP program.
This Reflect RAP enables Drake International to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress across the five dimensions. Getting these first steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives, and provide meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey.
Since 2006, Reflect RAPs have provided a framework for organisations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement. The program’s potential for impact is greater than ever, with close to 3 million people now working or studying in an organisation with a Reflect RAP.
The four Reflect RAP types — Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate — allow Reflect RAP partners to continuously develop and strengthen reconciliation commitments in new ways. This Reflect RAP will lay the foundations, priming the workplace for future Reflect RAPs and reconciliation initiatives.
Congratulations Drake International, welcome to the RAP program, and I look forward to following your reconciliation journey in the years to come.

Karen Mundine Chief Executive Officer Reconciliation Australia and IntegrityOur Business
Drake International recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. It has been a fascinating journey from a tiny two-man operation in Winnipeg, Canada to the successful multinational company we are today. In 1951, just two years out of university, Jim Shore and Bill Pollock co-founded what would become Drake International. Our co-founders originally focused on helping organisations to improve their productivity through workforce measurement, then quickly moved onto providing a host of flexible and permanent staffing solutions. Drake International soon expanded to offer talent solutions.
We now operate in 11 countries around the world and are the largest privately owned recruitment and HR company in the world. We continue to be a global leader in flexible and permanent staffing and have evolved to offer a dynamic suite of Talent Management Solutions.
With 14 offices across each mainland State and Territory, Drake International teams are strongly embedded within communities throughout Australia. We provide permanent, temporary, and contract recruitment services and deliver talent management solutions aligned to the unique requirements of each client. We pride ourselves on supporting each candidate in their career journey, with inclusive recruitment practices, expert advice, and successfully matching candidates with the right job opportunity.
Bunurong People Gadigal People Turrbal People Yugambeh People Larrakia People Kaurna People Noongar People Dja Dja Wurrung People Wurundjeri People Ngunnawal People Cabrogal People Wiradjuri People Bindal and Wulgurukaba PeopleWe have offices located in city and regional areas across Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Bendigo, Laverton, Albury, and Townsville. Drake International currently employs 174 people within Australia and does not track the heritage or ethnicity of our employees, so our exact number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff is unknown.
Our recruitment teams are staffed by expert consultants across specialist areas, including Health and Community Care, Banking and Finance, IT and Digital, Manufacturing, Government, Procurement, Retail, FMCG, Telecommunications, Trades, Engineering, Scientific, Education, and Warehouse and Logistics.
In addition to Drake International’s recruitment offering, we have a range of products and services designed to support clients throughout the employee life cycle, from attraction, selection, induction, development, and retention to separation. Our services include training and development programs, wellness services, and outplacement programs.
Our Mission
Drake International’s mission is to assist our clients to improve their productivity and performance by providing quality Recruitment and HR solutions, with an exceptional service. We have found that one of the key elements to success is ensuring that the goals and values of the individual align with those of the organisation.
Our Values
The pillars of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) of relationships, respect, and opportunities, aligns with our own organisational RAPID values (Respect, Achievement, Passion, Integrity, and Diversity and Inclusion).
• Respect to ensure a caring, friendly environment that listens and responds to the needs of our clients, candidates, and peoples.
• Achievement in delivering on mutually agreed outcomes and time frames using great effort and skill.
• Passion to provide knowledgeable, smart, enthusiastic people dedicated to make a positive difference to our clients, candidates, our community, and each other.
• Integrity in dealing with honesty and professionalism to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients, candidates, and each other.
• Diversity and Inclusion in working with the community and each other to ensure everyone feels welcome and included.
Today, with hundreds of staff throughout Australia who successfully place thousands of candidates into jobs every year, we are committed to ensuring we live and breathe our values and embrace inclusive recruitment practices, advocating for greater diversity within our teams and our extended network of clients and candidates.
Our Vision for Reconciliation
Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are restored to a place of equity and respect. We aspire for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures to be fully valued, and we wish for broken relationships to be re-established and social inequalities to be eradicated.
Our Reflect RAP
Drake International’s inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) seeks to facilitate understanding and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through education, awareness and building a strong foundation of reconciliation throughout the business.
Our purpose is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by building trust through respectful engagement and mutually beneficial relationships. We recognise the unique talents and capabilities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and seek to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidate engagement throughout our industry, and the community at large.
The development of our Reflect RAP encourages us to consider our shared history and promote meaningful change amongst all levels of our organisation.
We acknowledge that we must invest time and resources through education and cultural awareness activities, designed to inform our people and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a supportive and encouraging environment.
While developing our Reflect RAP is a key component of formalising Drake International’s commitment to reconciliation, the successful implementation and continuous improvement of our committed actions are essential to turn our reconciliatory objectives into effective action.
Ultimately, our Reflect RAP details our commitment to help raise awareness and contribute towards closing the gap targets with respect to education, training, and employment between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australians and business whilst providing access to meaningful employment, vocation, and career advancement.
The Drake International Reflect RAP 2023-2024 is our roadmap for implementing lasting change. It includes a commitment to action on several fronts, including undertaking cultural awareness training for all staff, and introducing new policies to recruit and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and businesses.
Other commitments include Drake International partnering with community groups to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples find and secure employment, as well as reviewing our procurement policy to utilise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses for goods and services. In turn, these commitments will help educate the wider community on the importance of reconciliation.
This Reflect RAP provides us with an opportunity to further strengthen our community ties and enable us to better deliver services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, candidates, and communities, as well as contribute more broadly to societal efforts towards reconciliation.
Our Working Group
Developed in collaboration with our Executive Committee, Drake International’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group was formed. Many of our Reflect RAP Working Group are members of our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, as we have a strong focus on inclusion and diversity at Drake International. Our Reflect RAP Working Group’s ultimate purpose is embedding the values of reconciliation within our organisation and across our wider networks.
Our Reflect RAP Champion Matt Vido is a passionate leader in the Drake International organisation, motivated to be the force of change not only on our journey to reconciliation but gender equality, inclusivity, and cultural diversity. Matt will play an integral role in championing the Reflect RAP implementation and will take a leadership role in ensuring the organisation is continuing to move towards achieving the goals outlined within this document.
In creating our Reflect RAP, our working group consulted with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consulting firm, Tagai Management Consultants, where we received valuable insights as they shared their experience and knowledge on reconciliation. From the information gathered, we support reconciliation through:
• Broadening our understanding of the unique cultures, histories, and customs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Advocating and encouraging for our teams to further build meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and business partners.
• Identifying and supporting employment opportunities and pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Embracing appropriate protocols such as Acknowledgement of Country in our work practices; and
• Partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses to develop mutually beneficial relationships with economic and social outcomes for all.

Tagai Management Consultants
Drake International engaged Murray Saylor from Tagai Management Consultants to join our Reflect RAP Working Group, and to assist with the development of our Reflect RAP. Murray has provided guidance and support to our Reflect RAP Working Group during this process and has given insight into areas that Drake International can focus on to further support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and businesses.
Supply Nation
As members of Supply Nation, we continue to build on this collaborative partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. We are establishing an internal procurement and purchasing policy with the intention of giving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses an equal opportunity to quote and service the needs of Drake International.

Merchandise Supplies
In December 2021, Drake International partnered with Position, a merchandise supplier that aims to deliver tangible social impact for Aboriginal Australians through their Social Impact Fund. Position created and distributed our Christmas gift packs that were sent out nationwide to Drake International clients and stakeholders. In August 2022, Drake Medox also partnered with Position to provide merchandise for our candidate welcome packs that will be distributed to any new employees.
Regional Engagement
With 14 branches across the country, many of our teams have developed partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and groups at a local level.
Our Drake Bendigo office currently works with North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA). We partnered with CMA and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups to support workers to deliver traditional land-owner projects across the region, covering initiatives from fish rejuvenation, to cultural heritage projects, to tree planting and vegetation. The Drake International Bendigo team developed a personalised onboarding and education process for this project to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates applying for roles. Our management team travelled to Kerang to meet in person with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and several candidates to ensure they had a clear understanding of Drake International’s processes, what services our organisation provides, and why we collect candidates’ personal information.
