Exclusive Manager’s Resource:
SELF-CARE CHECK-INACTIV
Purpose:
This quick and engaging activity is designed to help managers initiate meaningful conversations about self-care within their teams.
By incorporating this into your meetings, you can foster a supportive environment, encourage self-awareness, and promote a culture of wellbeing.
How to Conduct the Self-Care Check-In Activity:
Step 1
Set the Stage
Step 2
Pose the Check-In Questions
Start by explaining the importance of self-care and how it contributes to resilience, productivity, and overall mental health. Emphasise that this is a judgment-free space where everyone is encouraged to share.
Ask your team to reflect on and respond to one or more of the following prompts:
What’s one self-care activity you’ve done recently that made you feel good?
On a scale from 1 to 10, how are you feeling today? (Encourage a brief explanation for their score if they feel comfortable sharing.)
What’s one small self-care action you can take this week? What’s one thing the team can do collectively to support each other’s wellbeing?
Facilitate a Group Share
Step 4
Create an Action Plan
Invite team members to share their responses. Participation should be voluntary, and you can go first to set the tone. Encourage active listening and create a space for everyone to feel heard and valued.
Wrap up the discussion by:
Highlighting common themes or ideas shared. Identifying one or two actions the team can implement to support self-care collectively (e.g., scheduling regular breaks, setting boundaries for after-hours communication).
Step 5
Follow Up
