his year has absolutely flown in, and I can't believe Christmas is only round the corner. It's great to see the bars getting set for the festive months, and it's even better to see so many new places opening at this busy time of year. Our news pages will bring you up to speed on all the new bars that have landed in Glasgow and Edinburgh, from Rock Lobster in the Merchant City to Chaophraya in Edinburgh. On the drink front we bring you our Christmas alphabet of some of the top drinks and cocktails to look out for in the bars and later on in the magazine all the units and calories too! This month I also popped down to see 2ONE2 nightclub in Glasgow, formerly Karbon. You can see it for yourself on this months Bar Browser on pages 18 and 19, it is proving to be the place to be seen, especially on Saturday nights. Our interview is with Joshua Barr. He is one of a team of four who make up a new club night called “Stay Fresh.” These guys have followed in their dads’ footsteps and really know how to throw a great night. You can read all about it on pages 16 and 17. Finally I went along to the BBN awards ceremony at The Grand Central Hotel, which had no less than 85 winners. See pages 26 and 27. Well done to everyone who picked up an award. I hope you enjoy this issue.

News The Hanging Bat
A new beer cafe has opened in Edinburgh called The Hanging Bat. The new cafe, on the site of the former Mr Modos Bar on Lothian Road, has more than 140 different bottles of beer, 14 keg lines and six casks beers. However if you are a fan of a pint The Hanging Bat will not be for you...because it’s the first pub in Scotland not to sell pints, apparently 2/3rds is the largest beer pour available.
New Speakeasy
A new speakeasy style bar and cafe is set to open downstairs from the Buff Club at the end of November. The new bar, Buff Low Cafe, will be open from 5pm but will serve food til 3am, 7 nights a week. As well as offering cocktails and premium beers, the new bar will celebrate the era of Prohibition. Says owner Michele Pagliocca, “There are not that many places that you can get something to eat at that time in the morning. And from January we will be doing Cajun food too.” As well as food on offer, the new bar will also have live music in the shape of blues and jazz.

A Rocking Lobster... Rock Lobster Seafood Bar and Grill is a new venture from chef and entrepreneur Stephen Bonomi, formerly the man behind Arisaig. Stephen told Repertoire, “After all the years of doing Arisaig I wanted to do something different, and Rock Lobster was my father's favourite dish. It also ties in my two great passions – food and music.” (He was formerly lead singer with Berlin Blondes.) The menu also features many dishes from Stephen's family. He explains, “My family emigrated to Australia and the "Continental grill" and the "Bistecca grill" were two restaurants that our

Grandmother owned in Australia. They moved from Italy and basically put the food and recipes they ate at home on the plate in the restaurants for potential customer's. My Grandmother, always in black and speaking nothing but Italian, placed great importance on patience when cooking and the simplicity of ingredients that matched. My father developed this further with awareness and respect for customers as the restaurants became more of a business. This is what made us, and Rock Lobster is our tribute to those times.” It's at 1/4 Virginia Court, Glasgow.
Last month Mamont Vodka hosted the final of their Scottish Cocktail Competition at the Balmoral Hotel and crowned Rosie Patterson of the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh as the 2012 winner. Chaophraya set for Edinburgh
Chaophraya has now opened in the heart of Edinburgh at 33 Castle Street, on the site of the former Oloroso. The company have spent a massive £1.2m on the Thai restaurant, so you can imagine it does look pretty decadent with Golden Buddas and such like. It seats 200 folk in the restaurant and its Palm Sugar
bar and outdoor terrace area still retain the view of the Castle. There's also a wine wall which divides the restaurant into two different sections and it boasts an open kitchen too. Chaophraya’s menu is made up of classic dishes originating from different regions of Thailand. Prices start from just £6.95 for lunch and

£9.95 for dinner, and diners can expect to be truly spoiled for choice with the range of dishes on offer. The first people to eat at the new venue were Buddhist monks who blessed the restaurant – this is a Thai ritual that is custom for new businesses to bring luck and good fortune.

News A real Italian delicacy
A new Italian delight has landed on Finnieston's Argyle Street in the form of Panevino. It comes from the same people behind Byres Road's Little Italy. This is a classy looking place to enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of wine – particularly since there are more than 50 wines offered by the glass. Don't expect your usual pasta and pizza joint – this is more of a deli-type eatery with lots of cold meats and cheeses, and home-made breads, in a pick ‘n’ mix antipasti selection (cut check the price before you order because good Prosciutto can set you back a pretty penny). Of course there are hot dishes too, but this is a very authentic Italian offering, which encourages you to meet after work for nibbles and an apertif. There are plenty of cocktails on offer too. Check out www.panevino.co.uk for full details. It's open from 11am onwards.
Blackbird proves a hit
Scaramouche returns
If you are 30 or older you may remember The Scaramouche on Elderslie Street in Glasgow... a great pub, that sadly closed more than a decade ago. In the intervening years it has had quite a few incarnations probably the most successful as The Observatory, but now it has re-opened, albeit under a completely different guise. It now has a light and airy feel, with a bar on the left and spacious booths. The conservatory has disappeared and in its place an outside smoking area. But its original name has been brought back. 6
In the last issue we reported that Blackbird in Edinburgh was about to open... now it has, and it is getting rave reviews. The new bar is from the same stable as Treacle and Hamilton's, and this new South Side bar is pretty impressive too. It has a striking black exterior, with a bicycle above the door, exposed brick walls and a dark green interior. There is also a great range of drinks behind the
bar and a cool menu which features perfectly served burgers and steaks, as well as a tasty all day breakfast on a Sunday.
La Belle Angele to be re-born
The good news for fans of La Belle Angele, the live music venue that perished in the Edinburgh Cowgate fire 11 years ago, is that it will re-open at the end of next year in a new complex that is being built on the site of the former fire.

The latest news … Broadcast has opened

The new venue is the brainchild of Paul Cardow of PCL, the company which for the last few years has been ensconced at The Captain's Rest on Great Western Road. Broadcast, which is situated beside Box and Nice ‘N' Sleazy's, on the site of the former Local, specialises in live music and is open all day. It is at 427 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

Christmas D At this time of year we often like to try something a little special to drink. Whether that takes the shape of a cocktail or a liqueur often depends on your mood. So here is Penny Devlin’s guide to what’s worth trying this festive season. Aperol If you were on Edinburgh’s George Street this summer you can’t have missed the Aperol Spritz Garden... as a result this Italian aperitif is going down a storm in bars across the central belt. Bright orange in color, it has a unique taste, thanks to the secret recipe, which has never been changed, with infusions of selected ingredients including bitter and sweet oranges and many other herbs and roots in perfect proportions. Aperol’s strength is in its lowalcohol content of only 11 percent. The King’s Ginger The King’s Ginger is a liqueur specifically formulated by Berry Bros. in 1903 for King Edward VII. It has been appreciated by bon viveurs, sporting gentlemen and highspirited ladies ever since and more recently it has been making its presence felt in Scottish bars. Interv ew: Joshua Barr
Words: Lynn Kelly
This month Repertoire caught up with Glasgow DJ Joshua Barr, son of the Colin Barr who owns the two Bier Halles in Glasgow and Chambre 69. Joshua is one of a team of four who are also sons of well known faces in the bar industry who back in the day, were the movers and shakers for the Glasgow club scene. Trying to get the boys together during their busy schedule proved to be a challenge so we caught up Joshua who gave us the low down on the team's activities. So how did you all meet?
Ben Goldinger is son of the late Mark Goldinger who launched Bamboo and Bunker, Jasper Harrigan is Harri's (Sub Club) son, and Marco Galloway's dad was a production manager at The Scottish Opera. I met Jasper at a portfolio course, then we started to DJ together. I've known Ben the longest, we share a love of graffiti art, and I met Marco because we are studying the same course at Uni.
Did you always want to be a DJ?
Although I study art and Illustration at Uni, I've always loved music and became interested in DJing because of my dad. I got my first set of decks at 13 and had my first gig when I was 14. My dad had Mas nightclub at the time, which is now One Up and he encouraged me to do an under 18's night. I've been DJing in his pubs and clubs ever since. In fact Jasper and I used to DJ together in The Bier Hof in Sauchiehall Street after realising we had the same taste in music. We then moved to the Bier Halle in Gordon Street and still DJ together for the pre club nights in The Bier Halle every Saturday night to this day.
How did the idea of reviving “Fresh” come about?
Again my Dad's encouragement and the suggestion that I take on 16
my own club night. Jasper and I decided to start one together then we brought Ben and Marco in as partners to help run it. My dad used to run a night called “Fresh” and Harri was the DJ back in the 80s at Joe Paparazzis. We called our night “Stay Fresh” to pay tribute to my dad's night, and amazingly we've been selling out clubs since it launched last year on the 29th Dec last year In the Chambre 69.
So what sets “Stay Fresh” apart from other club nights in Glasgow?
For a start our night doesn't take itself too seriously. You can wear trainers and a snapback hat and you will get in. The night is more relaxed and all about the music which is not your usual run of the mill sound you hear in most clubs. We also have complete control over the night as Jasper and I DJ and have our own way of putting the music together, plus the resident DJ of Stay Fresh is our good mate Danny Obrian, known as “Greenman.” So between us we have a definite idea of the sound we want to create. We try to keep the music fun and funky from 90s hip hop
to motown funk to deep house edits. Ben (Goldinger) shares my love of art and graffiti and Marco and I are on the same Illustration course at Dundee Uni so together we make all the artwork and posters for our night. We always have artwork in the club; banners, a live projection show and it's all hand made by us.
Who is the most famous DJ you have met?
I've met Pete Tong several times in Ibiza. I love it there and I've been about 12 times, in fact my first trip was when I was just 8 years old. That's when my dad decided I was old enough to go....
What do you enjoy doing on your day off?
I love art and graffiti type base painting which is like typographical fonts. It's became almost a trade of mine. I met Ben because of our mutual interest in art and we paint together as often as we can. I'm lucky that I enjoy most of the
Repertoire 85 (christmas)_Layout 1 16/11/2012 18:16 Page 17
L/R: Joshua Barr, Marco Galloway and Jasper Harrigan Insert: Ben Goldinger work that we need to put into “Stay Fresh” like working on new tracks and sets on the music front, and designing the artwork on the creative side too. Jasper and Ben also work on their own music. Ben produces Hip Hop beats and Jasper produces House music.
Who or what is your inspiration?
My number one inspiration is definitely my dad, and the boys would probably say the same about theirs too. The knowledge that we have learned from each of them is invaluable, and we have definitely used that experience when planning our club night. Musically as well I take real inspiration from Jasper's dad Harri, and we all respect DJ Jackmaster who is on NMBRS record label.
If you could open your own bar, where would it be?
I would like to have a bar in The Finnieston area, It's definitely up
and coming and a great place for bars. Every other month I hear of something new happening up there, so it must be the place to be. I could never decide on a name though. I would pick one then want to change it two days later. For now though I'm sticking to the Bier Halle, it's my home from home, I have all my meetings there and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else at the moment.
What has been the highlights of “Stay Fresh” so far?
There has been so many, but mainly we have been really touched by the recognition the night has got and how popular it has been. The launch night sold out, then we collaborated with Subrosa at Sub Club. It was my first time DJing in the Sub Club and that night was a sell out too. Keeping in the theme of things we also threw a “Stay Fresh” birthday party in Bamboo for Ben's 20th Birthday. We have marketed all our nights online through
facebook, and we have designed our own poster campaigns. The response has just been amazing. Our last party at Halloween was a collaboration with one of Chambre 69's most exciting nights Freaky Freaky which is on the last Thursday of every month run by Sam Murray, which was also a complete sell out. Our next night is our one year anniversary of “Stay Fresh” on the 28th December at Chambre 69 which will have Jackmaster and residents. It's already getting a great response and looks set to be another big night.
Any future plans in the pipeline?
I finish my degree next year then who knows? I want to keep running the club night and work on the promotional side of things and help with my dad's business. I will still keep doing my art, but I see it as more of a freelance skill I will do on the side. For now though I want to keep building “Stay Fresh” and continue to sell out club nights and give people a good time. To follow all the club nights and to get info on our 1st birthday party check out www.facebook.com/ chambre69glasgow.

Christmas Stars... What does life hold for you this Christmas? The answers could be in the stars!
Aries
21 March - 19 April
Taurus
Gemini
As the year draws to a close you are looking forward to spending some quality time with your nearest and dearest. That's because, unlike just about every other sign (Virgo aside) Aries is one of the most organised signs of the zodiac. So not for you the last minute gift buying panic. Instead, if you are single, you will already have your Christmas outfit ready, as you are getting ready to mingle. In fact you probably have a schedule for your Christmas outings. And if in a relationship you and your partner may find some time for passion, after a Christmas cocktail or two.
20 April - 20 May
Travel may be on your mind this Christmas, and if you are one of the lucky ones, you've probably already got your tickets booked for a Christmas trip to the sun. Otherwise you will busy getting in the mulled wine, entertaining friends and organising nights out. After all you do like to have things your own way, and the best way to do that is to organise the nights out yourself. If single you could find yourself meeting a like-minded person in the west end. And as appearances are all important, make sure you are looking your best.
There are two sides to every Gemini – you can be a party animal, but still be a supportive friend. Sometimes you can be outrageous and at other times you have a sensible hat on... but Christmas is the ideal time to bring out the very best of you. This year you certainly have your outrageous and party, party, party hat on... but beware a hangover of magnitude! At the same time you could find your friends need a wee bit more support than usual, but this won't bother you, as you will get a real buzz out of cheering someone up. If single there will be opportunity at a bar beginning with the letter 'B'.
Libra
Scorpio
Sagittarius
If everything goes to plan this month you are going to be very busy indeed. Financial matters are important and you could find yourself putting down a deposit on a new property, either to buy or rent! You are known for your charm and diplomacy but you could find yourself falling out with someone the last fortnight of December, so choose your words carefully. You should prepare yourself for some unexpected twists and turns in your relationships but these should be reasonably positive. A new person could soon enter your life, either as a good friend or on the romantic front.
Love may be on the cards for you this month, although you may not be surprised to hear this news, as this could be the culmination of several months of effort with one person who you think could be a bit special. However, don't try to impress anyone with material possessions, be modest. And even if you feel like treating your friends and family try not to go overboard. You have been working very hard over the last few months and as a result you will relish your time off over the festive season. You will enjoy it immensely.
This will be a happy birthday month for you and the New moon in your own sign on 30th December bodes well for all career-related issues in 2013. You will be feeling happy go lucky in December and feel like being extravagant, and there is no harm in indulging yourself a bit! You may enjoy some romance after hooking up with a like-minded group of folk. This may not be a stranger but someone you already know. Best to remember thou' a romance can definitely change the dynamic of a friendship, but, again, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Cancer
21 June - 22 July
Leo
Virgo
Once again you are going to running about trying to catch your tail. Maybe that's because you have enough social occasions happening to fill your days and all of your nights. Romantically, it's going to be a very entertaining festive season you might find yourself playing a few games with people you have a fancy for. Just be careful you are not leading anyone on. You may find yourself splashing out on an expensive piece of equipment ...for yourself. A new ipad, perhaps? After all you do deserve a pat on the back, as you have been watching your pennies all year. So now is the time to splash what cash you have.
23 July - 22 August
This will be an uplifting month for you. All the stresses and strains of the year are banished as you set about enjoying yourself. The whole month of December will be funpacked, and there will be no hiding your light under a bushel. You will attract lots of admirers and will be flirting your way into the New Year, but hang on a minute try and not overdo it, as you could find yourself comping a cropper in January if you are not careful. A new romance could be on the cards, or perhaps you will find yourself canoodling with an ex! You have been warned.
There has been a lot of positive energy in your sign all year, and this December get set to make the most of all the positivity. A pay rise...a lot of attention and some emotional changes could be afoot. Perhaps you will even feel a sense of rebirth. You will want to spend the festive period connecting with friends old and new, but use your common sense when it comes to romance, or you could find yourself with some regrets in the New Year. The best colour for you this month is Blue, but you will certainly not be feeling the blues, but singing them, perhaps!
Capricorn
Aquarius
Pisces
You been concentrating on work for most of the year and you have reaped the benefits of all your efforts. Now, however it’s time to let your hair down. You just love socialising and catching up with friends, and this is certainly the month to do it. Over the last few months relationships have certainly been taking a back seat but now it might be time to set your cap at someone. If in a relationship make a fuss of your other half this Christmas, and spread your Christmas cheer.
The most important decision you may have to make this month is where to have Christmas dinner. Which will come as a relief after the sort of year you have had. Not only that but your kind and nonjudgemental nature will appeal to a new love interest. But take it slowly. You also may decide, at the last moment, to go away for a weekend. Take the opportunity, you won't regret it. An offer may be coming your way at the very end of your month, consider it carefully. It could have life-chaning consequences.
There have been lots of highs and lows in the last few months, but December will see you really relax and let your hair down. You'll enjoying catching up with friends and family and entertaining too. And you may even decide to get creative and make your own Christmas decorations or Christmas cocktails! There could be romance on the cards for you, but only if you let your guard down. Pisceans are the worst folk in the world for changing their minds, this time listen to your heart not your common sense.

For three days and three nights, the Tron Kirk will open to locals and visitors welcoming in the New Year in Edinburgh. By day, the curious are invited to The Drambuie Surreal Sessions to enjoy an extraordinary program of events including: A breathtaking digital art projection by Edinburgh-based digital artist, Andy McGregor, which will provide a 72 hour feast for the eyes, taking visitors from 2012 into 2013; A series of extraordinary film screenings using a classic 35mm movie projector supplied by The Grosvenor Cinema in Glasgow; Mixology masterclasses with Drambuie Brand Ambassador, Bruce Hamilton where participants will find their inner mixologist as they experiment with Drambuie’s complex and intriguing blend of aged Scotch whisky, spices and heather honey. Jonathan Brown, Heritage Director at Drambuie, comments, “Through A FESTIVAL OF THE EXTRAORDINARY we hope to help secure the future of the Tron Kirk as a central arts and culture venue in Edinburgh. For Drambuie, it is a return to our roots. During the first decade of the 20th century production of our famed liquid moved to Edinburgh from the Isle of Skye. We were based on Union Street, just over a mile away from the Tron Kirk. We are delighted, on behalf of the city of Edinburgh and the Tron Kirk, to bring this festival to a traditional place of celebration during the New Year festivities for which Edinburgh is rightly famed.” A FESTIVAL OF THE EXTRAORDINARY will be located inside the Tron Kirk, 122 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1PD. The Drambuie Surreal Sessions are free to enter and will take place from 9am to 9pm. The Extraordinary Drambuie Gatherings will take place each night from 10pm to 3am. The awards ceremony which took place at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow saw 85 pubs, clubs, and venues receive awards. The Best Bar None awards are led by Glasgow Community and Safety Services (GCSS) and recognise licensees who take steps to prevent problems such as binge drinking and antisocial behaviour. Venues which sign up to the scheme are inspected by Strathclyde Police’s Licensing Teams. They are judged on criteria including Prevention of Crime and Disorder, Securing Public Safety, Prevention of Public Nuisance, Promotion of Public Health and Protection of Children from Harm. Two hundred and fifty guests attended also applauded a new award - a Lifetime Achievement Award for a Designated Premises Manager (DPM) which was presented to Gavin McGreish of Campus. The new honour was introduced in recognition of venues which have consistently won Gold awards. A free mobile phone app developed by Glasgow Community and Safety Services (GCSS) was also unveiled. It enables tourists to use their iphones to instantly find award-winning venues. The app can be downloaded by scanning a QR Code which will be promoted by hotels, tourist chiefs and top city venues. Top Picks for late night entertainment If you are out for a late one and love live music then there are plenty of bars that offer late night entertainment that won't cost you a fortune. If you're not familiar with where it's at on the music front, then fear not as Repertoire has been on the hunt for the top bars that offer live music right into the wee hours. Here are some of the best around.
Bannermans, 212 Cowgate, Edinburgh EH1 1NQ
If you love rock, punk and a good whisky then you will love Bannermans. This pub has been churning out some of the best blues, rock, punk and metal music that you find in the Cowgate. Not only that, but they stock over 100 types of whisky on their gantry. What we love most about this rock spot, is that they welcome pretty much every genre, and all types of bands. They have live music six nights a week, with most gigs being pay on the door to save you the hassle of advance booking. One night coming up that looks set to be a big one, is a Joe Strummer Memorial show by Clash tribute band Counterfeit Clash on Saturday 22nd Dec. Another event that looks set to be popular is an all day band fest on the 9th December, which will offer an open stage to any bands or musicians who fancy performing. So customers should be in for a treat. You can get all prices and gig dates online at www.bannersmanslive.co.uk.
The Jazz Bar , 1A Chambers Street, Edinburgh EH1 1HR
There are so many reasons to love The Jazz Bar. This place is renowned for delivering some of the best jazz nights in the Edinburgh music scene, every night til 3am. One of the best nights to head along is a Monday when there is a 17 piece jazz band, including four trumpets, five saxes and 4 rhythms. The sound is just incredible. You pay £3/4 on the door and even get to sit through an open rehearsal from 8-9pm before the full gig kicks off at 9.15pm. Every night there is something different, but there is one particular event on the weekly calendar that really stands out… Dr Sketchy’s Burlesque Life drawing class. For £6/7 every Sunday you can enjoy some live music whilst sketching some burlesque beauties on stage. Fantastic! And they even give you all your sketching materials. We would love to see some of these drawings. For a full list of all that jazz log onto www.thejazzbar.co.uk
The Butterfly and the Pig, 153 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4SQ Since the day The Butterfly and the Pig opened back in 2005 it has been privy to some of the best live bands that play the Glasgow music scene. The great thing about this place is that you will never pay to hear live music, and every night there is something different on the music front, except Mondays when there is a quiz night. One of the bands you will find here are The Meatmen who play every Saturday night from 10pm. These guys really know how to get the place swinging, and you can expect people all ages filling the floor and enjoying some old school jive and rock n’roll. On a Friday from 10pm you will catch The Fortunate Sons and the Easy Orchestra. Wednesday nights are all about jazz with music from David Bowden. On a Sunday there is an open stage with Carl & Co from 8.30pm where you can take the mic if you fancy yourself as a bit of a chanter. For a full list of live music over the next few months, log onto www.thebutterflyandthepig.com. 28

The Dirty Martini Bar, Le Monde, George Street, EH2 2PF
t
The Dirty Martini Bar is very sophisticated, with a stage that looks like it could be straight out of a 1930’s ballroom. It's glamorous and elegant and the acts that appear here vary from Jason Isaac and Curtis Stiger. Part of Le Monde, Dirty Martini is the new addition that sits upstairs from the Skyline Bar. Dirty Martini offers you the full experience of fine dining and live music all under one roof. You can listen to a variety of live acoustic entertainment while you dine and sip your tipple of choice. In fact they offer a special package from Thursday to Sunday Friday for £45.95 which includes dinner, cabaret and a glass of fizz. To keep up to date with Xmas packages and appearances from special guests log on www.dirty-martini.co.uk.
Blackfriars, 36 Bell Street, Glasgow G1 1LG The reason why we love Blackfriars so much is because this hotspot offers some of best alternative music nights in town. You can expect everything here from funk, jazz, to scat. Stop by on a Tuesday or a Sunday night after 9pm and you won't need to spend a penny to watch bands like The Shiverin' Sheiks, who offer some old school rock that is “superb” according to the Sunday Herald. On a Friday and Saturday the basement hosts some of the most exciting underground music nights out there. These nights kick off usually at 10.30pm and never cost more than a fiver. For a full rundown on all the live music on offer here, log onto www.blackfriarsglasgow.com
Box, 431 Sauchiehall Street, GlasgowG2 3LG There is always so much live music on offer at Box it’s hard to keep track. Despite the fact it only opens from 5pm they can fair cram in a variety of live bands and nights that appeal to every musical taste. What we love about Box is that is also supports local bands who are trying to get their name out there, and they will never charge you to play or to listen to live music. You can watch up and coming bands play here every Friday and Saturday night and then enjoy the club night which runs until 3am. Another popular night is the Sunday Box Blues Jam. You can get up and jam with the house band, and even get a free pint for your effort. On a Monday, Box goes country with music from Ross Clark & Friends. Professional cover band The Kicks take the stage every Wednesday and play all the classics from bands including Queen, Led Zepplin, Prince and Elvis - but to name a few. Finally, on a Thursday there is a bumper live music night that runs from 11pm – 3am. Jamie Watson kicks off the night with eclectic acoustic, followed by cover band Third Card Trick who are known for their rock covers including songs by Blink 182 and ACDC. So it’s fair to say there is a lot going on at Box. Make sure you check out all upcoming live bands at www.boxglasgow.co.uk 29

Lynn’s Corner
For the first time ever I am learning about film and TV production which has been an exciting time at work. This is off the back of launching a TV site for the bar and pub industry. Just log onto www.barandpub.tv and you can get all the latest news, drinks ads, interviews and lots more. You can even see me taking to the streets and asking people what their favourite bar or restaurant is. It’s a work in progress as we are all learning, but we are having great fun with it too. So far the feedback has been great, and if you do work in a bar it is a great way of catching up on who's who and all the latest drinks news. Happy viewing.
would check it out. It is a great wee spot and was so busy we had to wait for seats. I then moved on to one of my favourite bars, Booly Mardys, before heading to The Brasserie at The Oran Mor. The atmosphere was fantastic and the bar was packed. I still managed to have a dance off, despite how tight the space was. The guy who grabbed me up to dance was clearly a bit of a jiver back in the day, and had me swinging about all over the place. Not great for the killer heels I have already mentioned, but great fun. I would recommend this late night hangout to anyone looking for great service and a fun night out. It is only open Friday and Saturdays though so make sure you check it out next time you're in town.
Killer Heels

Repertoire
Anyone that knows me can vouch for the fact that I have a ridiculous amount of shoes...I'm slightly addicted. I recently bought one of my favourite pair of heels yet from boohoo.com and from the moment I opened the box I was in love. However, I know the meaning of killer heels after wearing them out one Friday night. They may look gorgeous but by the end of the evening I was cursing them, and would have gladly swapped them for a pair of unfashionable flats. No pain, no gain, as they say, but maybe next time I will pack a flat pair of pumps for the walk home. Ouch!
Buzz for the Brasserie
Who says you need to wait til payday for a busy night out? I was out mid month in Glasgow's West End and it was absolutely heaving. I started off at the new prosecco bar in Paperinos after promising owner Stefano I 34
My boss (Auntie Sue) keeps raving about a hair salon called Christopher Bond at Anniesland Cross. It’s run by the charismatic Karen, and her obliging team.
