ince opening in 1988, Amber Regent has earned itself a glowing reputation for top-quaity, fine-dining Chinese cuisine, which combines fresh Scottish produce with traditional Chinese ingredients across a tantalising range of Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. It’s extensive menu includes memorable dishes like Kung Po Chicken, Beef in Oyster Sauce, Braised Squid and Aromatic Crispy Lamb served on exquisite china. A gluten free menu is also available. Amber Regent has a certain old school style and charm with its spotless linen-covered tables, elaborately folded napkins and classic décor, and prides itself on providing unfailingly exceptional and attentive service. It’s little surprise then that Amber Regent remains one of the best places for authentic Chinese cuisine in Glasgow.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere and is always full with parties and families and couples. It is a great experience for any kind of occasion. We were given a table in the corner for a little bit of privacy but still soaked up the ambiance, I loved it! Great value for money also. Trip Advisor

It is set in the stunning and completely restored grade A listed building that housed the Anchor Line first class booking offices. The Anchor Line showcases the best of Scottish produce with influences from both sides of the Atlantic. Think fresh oysters, lobster and scallops, the finest scotch beef, ribs and burgers to die for. It is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and also has private dining facilities. It combines a casual and welcoming dining environment with first class service and produce.

The Anchor Line is further proof that when it comes to sumptuous restaurant interiors Glasgow is almost unbeatable these days. They have resisted the temptation to charge based on the ambience. Well done for that, because it’s certainly good value....My ribs are outstandingly good - meaty, very tender, full of flavour and apparently smoked in here too. Ron Mackenna, The Herald

ocated on the Lower Ground Floor at 12-16 St Vincent Place, The Atlantic is a cool and contemporary brasserie restaurant. It showcases the best of French cuisine but also has a full rotisserie and Robata grill in the open kitchen. The menu is a heady mix of contemporary and classic French dishes, from steak tartare and Pâté de Foie Volaille to French onion soup and moules frites. Its rotisserie offers chicken, cooked Provençal style, while the Robata grill serves up perfectly cooked Scottish steaks. The bar at Atlantic is also one of the first in the UK to launch a Low FODMAP menu tailored to customers affected by IBS, which must be ordered 24 hours in advance.

The bouillabaisse is of the thick broth type with saffron and Pernod, but most importantly with poached white fish, bass maybe, clams, prawns and – this is the good bit – with little proper, softly potatoey gnocchi throughout. Great tartiflette; good bouillabaisse; desserts so-so but generally consistent... Worth a visit. Ron Mackenna, The Herald

fter a successful ten years, multiple award wins and over half a million meals sold, Balbir’s is widely recognised as one of Glasgow’s best-loved restaurants. In June 2016, Balbir’s embarked on a year-long project to transform the venue from just a restaurant to a complete dining experience. It was very important to the owners that the refurbishment didn’t lose ‘what makes Balbir’s special’ but also let them celebrate the diversity of Indian food. The updates includes a new bar/ brassiere with an open kitchen serving small plates, including an exciting new Indian Street food and Grill menu; an after dinner lounge and private dining area plus a new deli and spice market, due to open in summer 2017. Why not come along and enjoy for yourself?

The pizza was spot on as the base of my gamba picanta was wonderfully crisp and thin. It was piled high with king prawns and sprinkled with lemon dressed rocket and thin strips of pancetta. Best of all, buried mischievously underneath it all, were slices of red chilli which added pleasant heat to mouthfuls when they were least expected. Gary Ralston, Daily Record

Up comes as good a Stifado as I have eaten in Greece. The beef and shallots are cooked to a fork-tender slump and although this is really a stew, its lively acidity (from red wine and tomato) and herbiness (from allspice berries) makes it lightly fragrant, not winter stew dull. nspired by the backstreet tapas bars of Spain’s biggest cities, La Boca offers a true authentic Spanish dining with its fresh, traditional tapas prepared by Spanish chefs. The restaurant’s narrow interior is bright and welcoming, and has a lovely Spanish feel. The tapas itself is delicious, varied and reasonably priced with melt in the mouth Iberico pork a real favourite. The quality of the food is matched by the outstanding service of La Boca’s servers and the drinks menu features sensational sangria, a great selection of Spanish wines and Spanish craft gin. Judging by the number of Spanish nationals eating there, its no surprise that La Boca is often described as serving some of the best tapas in Glasgow.

But the secreto Iberico? This is an unusual cut of pork said to give tenderness and flavour. It comes crisp, seared, on a bed of thin chips. Great taste and texture. In the end we pick at a creamy, ricey dish with cinnamon but we’ve already made our minds up on the food. Generally excellent. Ron Mackena, The Herald

t Miller & Carter Glasgow we know a thing or two about steak. The quest for the perfect steak starts in the field. Carefully selected Scottish fields, of course. Our beef is then aged for 30 days, using both wet and dry techniques to provide the optimum succulence. Our expert butchers then hand cut every steak ready for our specially trained chefs to season and grill them to perfection. Our meat producers work closely with the farmers, so we can trace every steak back to the animal, the herd it came from and the field it grazed on. Sourcing, preparing and serving great steak is what we do. Day in, day out. It’s our profession but it’s also our obsession. Everything we’ve done so far and everything we’ll do in the future is for the love of steak.
