At the edge of surburban and business sectors, the Metro Manor Hotel provides a respite from daily life for a unique experience based on the fusion of industrial shipping containers and common concrete building; within the tone of a tropical Miami setting. Without any articular striking views as the ground level, the frontyard becomes a courtyard as the central focus of the project. Using Shipping containers as a system of rows allows for a reapeatable module that could be easily implemented on site without disturbing the existing building.

Lauderdale Memorial Park resides in a suburban setting, A Mass of Shelly Limestone, with a rough exterior, light in color but massive in texture. Carving the path, aligned to an evergreen tree, symbolizing growth and the journey. A pattern of gateways, line the entrance and back placement of the urns, the chapters of our lives.

Based on the OP Art pieces of Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley. The piece inspired a theme of repeating conical forms, imagined as prefabricated concrete arches. These prefab arches can be small or large, grouped loosely or directly to create massive and abstract pavillions for the imagination of children and families to activate Prof. Abraham Alucio Year. 2019 Urban Design Project Individual Work

A community Project designed to outlive the community it was initially designed for. Inspired by Noah’s Ark, the from started with basic shapes that define the essential programs and cirrculation. Adding and subtracting primitive shapes to create groups of islands, that over time will submerge with sea level rise. Finally, the islands connect into two continents, with bridges that keep the project and community alive and active.

Architects prototypically develop a methodology that closely resembles the scientific method, manifesting itself most vividly during the initial conceptualization of a project, typically being the site analysis. Architects, overconfidently take up the mantle of sociology, critically analyzing important site-specific characteristics such as the culture and the site’s vernacular typologies, where the intended goal is to exploit their findings to inspire the design. The illustration vivifies the plunderer mentally which architects tend to have with regards to analyzing a site, dissecting culturally significant information until the most useful and interesting elements are identified to later be rehashed and used.
