Island Police Blotter
Drowning on NoPac Beach, Trouble OTB Editor’s note: The waters off of our beaches claim yet another victim, the second of the season. Other than that things have been relatively quiet on the crime front except for the ongoing series of thefts from cars. So once again we tap into the list of crime from OTB to remind ourselves why we don’t live over there. 3:51 p.m. June 5 Dead on Arrival Padre Island BM 203 Officers responded to a possible drowning at Beach Marker 203. The victim with the assistance of his 14 and 16 year old sons wrestled the machetes from the man. The suspect walked away threatening to arm himself with a gun and shoot the victim. It is unknown why the victim was upset at his son-in-law at this time. Officers located the attacker Virginia and Morgan where he was arrested. He was transported and booked at the CDC. Something’s Afowl on The Island You may remember a few weeks back we had the case of the found chicken. In the wake of that episode we now have the case of the two found sort of chickens. Guy Davis and Tony Amos over at the ARK got a couple of unusual calls the other day. Someone called to report a strange bird with a red head. When they got to the scene they found the wayward bird taking refuge under the lifeguard stand at the end of Whitecap. A bit of research determined it to be a guinea fowl which Tony says you don’t want to mess around with. “They got claws.” No sooner did they get the fowl tempered bird back to the ARK than they got a second call, this time from the Windward Parking lot at Ellis Beach. This one was also a big white bird with a red head but this one turned out to be a Muscovy Duck. Both birds are resting comfortably at the ARK but we’re trying to find out if there was a bust out at the bird house or just what caused these two unusual birds to turn up in the same vicinity at the same time. If anyone is missing a couple of angry birds let Tony know. Dale Rankin
