The Madison Park Village DREAM Update May 2013 DREAM Programming: School year DREAM ended with the 2nd Annual Culminating Experience to Kimball Farms in April. School year DREAM will restart in September 2013. Summer DREAM begins on June 24th with half-day activities until the end of the school year. The first full week of Summer DREAM will occur the week of July 1 st. DREAM Office: Summer Community Interns: The Summer Community Intern for the Madison Park Village and Ruggles-Shawmut communities is Brian Doyle. He has been a Madison Park mentor for the past 2 years and will also be a co-chair in the fall. He looks forward to getting to know the younger members of DREAM and engage more youth throughout the summer. Summer DREAM trips: This summer looks promising with several trips to the New England Aquarium, to the Boston Harbor Islands, sailing on the Roseway, canoeing with the Youth Opportunities Program, and assortment of other field trips. Summer Guide 2013: During May and June, all Madison Park Village and Ruggles-Shawmut families will have received the most recent copy of Summer Guide 2013. The Summer Guide is compiled by the city of Boston to inform children and their families of the resources that the city offers throughout the summer such as summer camps and information about local libraries and swimming pools. Americorps Hiring: The DREAM Office has begun the hiring process for the Program Empowerment Director position for the 2013-2014 year as well as the Highland Ambassador of Mentoring position. Mentoring Night at Fenway Park: On Monday, May 23rd, 2013 a group of Northeastern matches and 2 DREAM staff members attended the Mentoring Night at Fenway Park. Clyde Glover threw out the first pitch to his mentor Brian Doyle at the start of the game. These tickets were generously donated to DREAM via Mass Mentoring Partnership. Keep DREAMing!
