October 15th, 2012 The Madison Park Village DREAM Update September 2012 Madison Park Village DREAM Programming is now back in session as the college students returned to campus this past September. The Madison Park Village DREAM participants were looking forward to the fun activities that awaited them. DREAM Programming: Due to the transition of mentor leadership at Northeastern, we were unable to accurately record attendance at programming this month. We have worked with the mentors and will have accurate attendance for October's report.  09/14: The younger boys played Capture the Flag outdoors while the older boys played football and other outdoor sports. The younger girls baked cookies. A few of the youth participants explored the wonders of the Northeastern dining hall.  09/21: The older and younger boys continued to enjoy the good weather and played outdoor sports. Some of the girls made pasta. The mentees have been excited girls also played Dolls as per special request. Other youth participants hosted a movie night where they also made popcorn.  09/28 : All of the boys participated in outdoor sports activities. A few girls visited Sephora. Some of the youth saw Hotel Transylvania. Program Development:  New Leadership: This year Paige Bogucki and Jeff White are serving as the co-chairs and Matthew Wilen is the new treasurer.  Mentor Recruitment: The mentors tabled at the Fall Community Service Fair and about 100 people signed up and were interested in learning more about the program. Culminating Experience:  The older boys of Madison Park are interested in planning an end of the year trip to New York City and possibly another ski trip during the winter. DREAM Office:  All Staff Retreat: All DREAM staff from our Vermont and Boston office got together for a staff retreat from Monday the 9th - Tuesday the 10th. It was a great way to start the school year with training sessions and group bonding.  Youth and Parent Surveys: We are currently conducting youth and parent surveys for all participants of school-year DREAM. We hope to wrap up surveys by the end of the calendar year and be able to finish analyzing the data in the spring.  Mass Mentor Partnership:


o State Mentoring Matching Grant: DREAM is honored and excited to once again be receive funding from the State Mentoring Matching Grant. On Monday the 24th Rachel and I attended the State Mentoring Grant Kickoff Meeting in Worchester. o Cocktails for a Cause: On Thursday the 27th members of the DREAM office joined many others in supporting Mass Mentor Partnership and the Rodman Ride for Kids by attending a fundraiser at Scholars in downtown Boston.
