Katy-Win/Johnson Win/Johnson DREAM Quarterly Report June-August 2013 Greetings from DREAM! Summer brought warm weather and plenty of DREAMing this quarter. Youth participated in activities in their community, trips to nearby attractions, and sessions at Camp DREAM. They are sad for summer to end, but excited for the mentors to return in the fall. Here is a summary of Katy-Win DREAM happenings from the summer: Highlights from the Quarter IInclude: • This month, two mentees attended Camp DREAM for a four-day session of swimming, hiking, gardening, meeting new friends from other DREAM communities, and more! SummerActivities with Youth Youth: • A trip to St. Johnsbury to see Circus Smirkus! This exciting circus show is performed almost entirely by youth. The DREAMers were so excited to see children their own age and even younger performing all kinds of exciting tricks and stunts! • A trip to the Ben and Jerry’s Factory, where DREAMers enjoyed a tour that included a free sample, and of course a cone at the end. On the way home, the group stopped at the Cabot factory to sample delicious cheeses! Special Events for Youth and Mentors: • Five teens from four Local Programs participated in a four four-day day sailing trip with Time of Wonder sailing in Harpsell, Maine. They learned to sail the boat, went swimming and kayaking, and made friends with their fellow sailors. • Eight teens and four chaperon chaperones es took part in the third annual College Road Trip through a grant from the Children’s Trust Fund. Over eight days, they visited seven colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Along the way, they took time for adventures at Came Camell Beach Water Park, Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, and Central Park. The teens lear learned ned about the college admission process, asked questions about college life, and had some adventures along the way. Capacity Building and Fundraising:
