Birchwood DREAM Monthly Snapshot June & July 2012 Program Happenings and Highlights June marked the opening of the summer DREAM program, and interns Melissa Rixford and Anna Shireman-Grabowski jumped into programming with kids this month full of enthusiasm and big DREAMs! DREAMers have especially enjoyed a trip to Sandbar, a local state park that offers great beach swimming for hot days. Shelburne Museum donated admission to the Birchwood DREAMers, who loved exploring the museum and, most especially, loved riding the carousel!

Weekly Programming with Children For the first day of programming, Anna and Melissa got to know the kids over an ice cream party and bracelet making extravaganza, followed by a rousing and energetic game of kickball! Trips to the Milton library have become a routine field trip for Birchwood DREAMers, who weekly take out new books to read! An educational trip to ECHO has been a highlight for kids so far! DREAMers began work on a bottle drive this month- stay tuned for more information on how much they will be able to raise! A trip to Sandbar State Park beach has helped keep DREAMers cool this summer! DREAMers enjoyed a day of berry picking followed by baking up delicious berryinspired treats.

Five intrepid Birchwood explorers headed to the Lake Champlain Sailing Center for an afternoon of sailing. A group headed to camp DREAM to explore, swim, canoe, and bond! Birchwood DREAMers joined forces with Franklin Square summer DREAMers to run a car wash to raise money for end of the summer trips!
