Elm Street DREAM Monthly Snapshot June 2012 Program Happenings and Highlights June marked the opening of the summer DREAM program, and interns Victoria Lombard (a UVM mentor) and Meagan Frick jumped into programming with kids this month full of enthusiasm and big DREAMs! Swimming was the most popular activity by far amongst the Elm Street DREAMers, who frequented the Winooski pool and North Beach. Teen nights involving movies, cooking, baking, and other activities were a popular activity during June and July! Participants Mentees Total: 36 Females: 21 Males: 17

Weekly Programming with Children The advent of programming was celebrated at Elm Street with an ice cream party and lots of running around games! Elm Street kids have particularly enjoyed arts and crafts projects so far this summer, especially doing lots of bubble painting and spin art! DREAMers hand crafted their very own solar ovens, and then baked tasty nachos in them. A group of teen girls enjoyed a Teen Girls Night, that included baking, nail painting, and move watching. The teen boys had their own night, that included a barbeque and a movie! Elm Street DREAMers were regular visitors at the Winooski pool throughout June and July, and also took a few trips to North Beach! An afternoon of Zumba was so popular that Meagan and Victoria brought it back several times to the talented dancers at Elm Street! DREAMers took a trip to the library, where they participated in programming there and took out books. Five intrepid Elm St. explorers headed to the Lake Champlain Sailing Center for an afternoon of sailing.
